"The story of a certain town, of certain girls"

"Academy City" is a town with a total population of 2.3 million, 80% of which are students. The students in the city have a curriculum in which they learn to develop psychic powers, and are primarily divided by level. Levels range from Level 0 (powerless) to Level 5 (psychic), and students are constantly studying every day to reach higher levels. A Certain Scientific Railgun is a story that centers around Misaka Mikoto, a railgun who is one of only seven Level 5s in Academy City, as she takes on various incidents related to the city's darkness.

Famous scene 1: Are you wearing pants?

This classic scene! It has been done several times in the anime, and it can be said to be a symbol of Uiharu Saten. Can you talk about Railgun without mentioning this? It's no exaggeration to say so (lol)

Famous scene 2: Restructuring (2nd season of anime, episode 16)

Misaka talking with her sister

After the Sisters arc is resolved, there is a scene with Misaka and her sister, who still feels a little regretful that she brought them into this world because of her. The project that was the reason they were created is canceled, and they wonder what their purpose in life should be from now on. They think that Misaka, as their older sister, will help them find it, and they selfishly ask her to help them find it. This was a long episode, so this final scene was very moving.

Famous scene 3: The results will come later (anime season 1, episode 5)

Loli Kuroko encouraging Uiharu

In an episode from Uiharu and Kuroko's rookie days in Judgment, Uiharu is on the verge of giving up because nothing she does goes right, but Kuroko tells her, who is trying her best and has a sense of justice, "The results will come later." It's no exaggeration to say that it was this encouragement that made Uiharu who she is today, and that the two of them ended up becoming good partners. Kuroko was more mature than you'd expect, even though he was still in elementary school.

Famous scene 4: Misaka's encouragement (anime season 1, episode 24)

When the AIM Bursts of the Level Upper users went out of control and Misaka finally defeated them, she said, "Try your best again. Don't dwell on this, don't lie to yourself, try again." Since she herself had reached Level 5 through hard work, this was her biggest encouragement to everyone who had given up and resorted to the trick of the Level Upper. Saten was one of those people, and it was a great scene that gave a push to those who were stuck in real life as well.

Famous Scene 5: My Weakest (2nd Season, Episode 16)

Kamijo attacks Accelerator

This is also a famous scene from the Sisters arc, where Accelerator, who is said to be the strongest, is defeated by Kamijo, who is said to be the weakest level 0. Strongest is pronounced as saijaku, weakest is pronounced as saikyou. This wordplay is very good, and it was a wonderful scene, especially since it marked the end of the long, painful, and difficult Sisters arc.

Famous Scene 6: It's Not a Defective Product (Anime Season 2, Episode 10)

Uiharu crying on the phone with Saten

This is the scene where Saten, who has used the Level Upper and put her friend in danger, is in despair and is talking to Uiharu on the phone. Saten laments that she ended up like this because she's a Level 0, a defective product, and upon hearing this, Uiharu tells her that Saten is not defective at all and offers many words of encouragement. It was a wonderful scene that really touched the heart with the friendship between the two.

Famous scene no. 7: First railgun (anime season 1, episode 1)

Misaka firing the railgun

There was a bank robbery in front of Misaka, and when she tried to do something, Kuroko stopped her, telling her that ordinary people should not get involved. But when Saten tried to protect a child in front of her and was kicked away by the robber, it was not Misaka Mikoto but the Railgun who was there. She expressed her anger, and told Kuroko not to get in the way because it was a personal fight, and then she unleashed her Level 5 ability, the Railgun that is synonymous with Misaka. It was a very cool scene that really showed Misaka's strength.

Famous scene no. 8 Nunotaba's conflict (2nd season anime episode 6)

Nunotaba talking with Misaka Imouto

This is the moment when Nunotaba and Misaka Imouto go outside from the rooftop at Misaka Imouto's request. The world is so dazzling, the clone says, and Nunozuka feels differently about her than she does about a mere tool. To her, Misaka Imouto and the clones are very dazzling, and this is also the scene that makes her decide to cancel the plan for her sake. Being happy just because something is dazzling is not something that is natural for Misaka Imouto, so it must be the same in the real world too; the world is surely full of brilliance, we just don't notice it because it's so natural...

Famous scene no. 9: Misaka in rage (2nd season of the anime, episode 6)

Misaka in rage

Although they had only just met, Misaka saw his clone being brutally killed in front of him, and when he asked Accelerator why he would do such a thing, he got an answer that he would become the strongest, and hearing this, Misaka was enraged, saying, "Is that why you killed that child?!" He then fired his railgun in anger, and it seemed like the battle was over, but Accelerator didn't even seem to notice the railgun, let alone harm it, and continued to talk to him, leaving him in despair. It was very moving and wonderful to see Misaka angry at the clone he had become friends with and communicated with, being killed in front of him, even though it was only for a short time, but the despair that followed was huge, making this a great scene in two senses.

Famous scene #10: Too much selfishness☆ (Original, Chapter 70)

Tearful Shokuhou Misaki
Source: A Certain Scientific Railgun ©Kamachi Kazuma/Fuyukawa Motoi/ASCII Media Works/PROJECT-RAILGUN S
This is the best scene where Shokuhou sheds tears. I won't say too much because it would take too long, but it's the scene where Shokuho, a perfect beauty who is usually resolute and never shows any weakness, can't contain her tears after her long-cherished wish is fulfilled. All I can say is that it was truly moving. It's a scene I hope they make a third season soon so I can see in the anime.
