This battle action series, written by Daisuke Ashihara, began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2013. It has been serialized in Jump Square since 2019. The first season of the anime (73 episodes) aired from October 2014 to April 2016, with the second season airing in 2020. The third season is currently airing in October 2021. Border is an organization that protects Earth from Neighbors (Neighbors). The protagonist, Osamu Mikumo, a member of the organization, meets Yuma Kuga, a Neighbor from outside the gate. Mikumo fights the Neighbors that have invaded his school, but when he finds himself struggling, Kuga uses a "Trigger" to help him. Mikumo of Border and Kuga of the Neighbor, two people who should normally be enemies, join forces to fight. Because conventional weapons are ineffective against Neighbors, Border uses weapons called Triggers to fight. This time, I'd like to rank the strongest characters who appeared up until Naver's large-scale invasion of Mikado City. Please note that many of these are personal opinions.

10th Place: Mira

Mira Defeating a Replica

A female Aftokrator operator, she uses a black trigger called "Spiraskia (Window Shadow)." She uses black spaces called "Large Window" and "Small Window" to warp and dispatch Trion soldiers. While Mira plays a supporting role, her powerful abilities make her extremely troublesome. While her one-on-one strength may not be that great, she ranks 10th as a person who has shaken up Border.

9th Place: Enedora

Enedora fighting Kazama

A fighter from Aftokrator, he uses a black trigger known as the "King of Mud (Bolboros)." He transforms his trion into liquid, gas, and solid on his blade, and attacks primarily by hardening the blade. He guards against his weak spots, the "Communication Brain" and "Supply Organ," with hardening, and neutralizes all other weak spots with liquid. His internal attacks using gasification caused great suffering for Kazama and his team. While his abilities alone would likely rank him higher, he lacks composure and judgment, so he's ranked 9th.

8th Place: Hyuzu

Hyuzu fighting Jin

A young Aftokrator fighter, he uses the latest Aftokrator trigger, known as the "Butterfly Shield (Labyrinth)." His calm judgment and superior Trion abilities make him a highly skilled Aftokrator. He manipulates magnetic crystals to create blades, shields, and more. These crystals can also be embedded in enemies and function as transmitters. While this versatile trigger can perform a variety of functions, from attack to support, it can be difficult to master. Hyuzu's mastery of this trigger is clearly indicative of his exceptional abilities.

7th Place: Shinoda Masashi

Shinoda slashing Enedra

He is the head of Border and the master of Tachikawa, the number one A-rank attacker. Known as the "strongest normal trigger man" within Border, Shinoda possesses true skill despite his position. His battle scene with Enedra was incredibly cool. Although he is Tachikawa's master, he rarely fights these days, so he is ranked lower than Tachikawa.

6th Place: Kei Tachikawa

Tachikawa slashing Ilgar

Captain Tachikawa, ranked #1 in the overall individual ranking and #1 in the individual attacker ranking. Excluding black triggers, Tachikawa is undoubtedly the strongest in Border. Although he was unlucky not to be able to participate in the battle due to an incompatible "Wind Blade" skill, he possesses enough skill to thrive even as a normal trigger. He primarily uses the Kogetsu Dual-Sword style and is also skilled in stunts using the optional Spinning Air. A true battle lover, he was happier than anyone to see Jin return to ranked matches.

5th Place: Ranbabein

Rambanein Taking on Multiple Targets

The younger brother of Aftokrator's commander, Hyrein, he uses a normal trigger called "Kerydorn (Thunder Feather)." Its powerful projectile trigger allows for both spread and rapid-fire attacks. While Border believes that high power impedes rapid fire, Ranbanein possesses both. He's bold and battle-loving, with a personality reminiscent of a Sengoku warlord. Although he was ultimately forced to retreat after being defeated by 10 Border operatives, his terrifying strength meant that even 10 Border operatives were unable to counter him earned him 5th place.

4th Place: Hirain

Hirain recovering

A commander of Aftokrator, he uses a black trigger called "Alector (Egg Crown)." He has the ability to fire bullets shaped like fish or lizards, turning anyone who touches them into a cube. Each bullet has a different trajectory, and the sheer number of bullets makes it extremely difficult to defend against. Alector reacts to trion, turning weapons formed from trion into cubes. He also possesses a cheating ability: he can absorb Trion from the cube to heal himself. This forced Izumi to retreat.

3rd Place: Old Man Viza

Organon

Aftokrator's oldest soldier, he wields a black trigger called the "Star Staff (Organon)," a national treasure of Aftokrator. While the Organon looks like a staff, it actually contains a sword. His wide-ranging, ultra-fast blade attacks are difficult to avoid, but even if he manages to avoid them, Old Man Visa's speed belies his age, and his skilled swordsmanship makes him difficult to get close to. He was a formidable opponent, giving Yuma his first real struggle.

2nd Place: Yuichi Jin

Jin, who uses the Wind Blade

A self-proclaimed "talented elite" belonging to Tamakoma, he is ranked S-class. He uses a black trigger called "Wind Blade" and has the side effect of predicting the future. "Fuujin" itself is powerful, but its combination with Future Prediction makes it so powerful that it can defeat multiple A-rank players, including Tachikawa. Since I ranked him second because of "Fuujin," Jin, who gave up "Fuujin" and became an A-rank player, may be ranked a little lower... I'm looking forward to seeing Jin's battles now that he's back in ranked matches!

1st Place: Kuga Yuma

Yuma defeats Old Man Visa

The honorable first place goes to Kuga Yuma, a Neighbor and Border member, without a doubt! He uses a black trigger that copies opponents' abilities and has a side effect that allows him to see through lies. Even without using his black trigger, Yuma's natural combat ability and experience allow him to quickly defeat his enemies. He had a tough time against Old Man Visa, but ultimately won spectacularly. Since he's still not used to Border's triggers, I've placed him in first place, anticipating his future growth.
