The second season of World Trigger will begin in January 2021. While various circumstances led to the series ending prematurely, it continued for a total of 73 episodes, including some original anime episodes. With the start of the second season, I'd like to recap the original anime episodes from the first season!

What is the anime-original episode "Fugitive Arc"?

The episode takes place after the B-rank match between Suzunari First and Nasu Squad. Original characters appear, and the unit is set not in Mikado City but in the slightly more remote Yotsuzuka City. This episode is fraught with inconsistencies within many of its settings, particularly in World Trigger, which is far from loosely structured. However, the story is worthy of a shonen manga, with plenty of highlights for Osamu and other characters, making it a highly entertaining story on its own. It's too good to dislike this episode.

Miwa, Yoneya, and Kodera of Miwa Unit, who happened to be present at the scene, are tasked with rescuing the civilians and dealing with the Trion soldiers. However, the reactivated giant Trion soldier entered self-destruct mode. If things had continued as they were, not only would everyone be blown away, but the people of Yotsuzuka City would have been harmed as well. The three are split up when they arrive at the remains of a quarry, with Yuma fighting Trion soldiers controlled by Gieve further ahead, while Zeno and Chika reunite with Osamu, who escaped on his own. [World Trigger 2nd] Summary of Season 1's Fugitive Arc

Here's a summary of the original episode, "Fugitive Arc," from the World Trigger anime. This is a major incident in which Trion soldiers appear outside of Mikado City, and although it's an original anime episode that had a major impact on the original work, the story is exciting and enjoyable. It seems to have been cut from the reruns before the start of season 2, but it's a very entertaining episode that's well worth watching!
