The first season of "World Trigger" aired from 2014 to 2016, and the long-awaited second season will begin airing in January 2021. So, this time, we'll serve as a refresher and introduce the main characters and characters who will be playing an active role in the second season!
The Glasses Without Glasses: World Trigger's Protagonist, "Osamu Mikumo"
One of the main characters of World Trigger. Since the story of World Trigger unfolds from Osamu's perspective, if there was only one main character, it would be Osamu. However, Osamu does not possess special powers like Yuma Kuga or Yuichi Jin, nor does he possess natural talent like Chika Amatori. Still, he is a protagonist who does what he can with wisdom, ingenuity, and determination. While he lacks special powers, Osamu's steady growth as a glasses-wearing protagonist leaves a lasting impression.
Kuga Yuma: A Transfer Student Raised in the Near World and a Black Trigger User
One of the main characters of World Trigger. He traveled the Near World with his father, Yugo Kuga, and traveled to various countries as a mercenary. After his father's death, he transfers to this world and attends the school attended by Mikumo Osamu. After Trion soldiers attack the school, he finds himself pursued by Border, but thanks to the efforts of Yuichi Jin, he becomes a member of Border. He possesses an extremely powerful black trigger and, thanks to his experience as a mercenary, possesses exceptional combat abilities. He's a realist who defeats his enemies emotionlessly in battle, but he also lacks common sense.
A Talented Elite: Yuichi Jin, a Man Who Sees the Future
One of the main characters of World Trigger. He is an S-rank Border elite who wields a special black trigger even among Border members. Not only does he control the black trigger called Fuuban, he also possesses the side effect of future vision, an ability that allows him to roughly predict enemy actions and the scale of damage, making him an incredibly valuable asset that is at the core of operations. His side effect and the black trigger Fuuban are an incredible match, but he gave up his black trigger when he recruited Kuga Yuma into Border. He has since become a great big brother to Osamu and Yuma.
Kind-hearted Junior High School Sniper and Trion Monster "Chika Amatori"
One of the main characters of World Trigger. She is a kind-hearted junior high school student with a bob haircut, and the younger sister of Rinji Amatori, Mikumo Osamu's tutor. Although she has a modest and quiet personality, her natural abundance of Trion makes her a target for Neighbors. After joining Border, she trains hard as a sniper, utilizing her vast Trion reserves to fire cannons powerful enough to blow up entire buildings. However, his gentle nature makes him hesitant to shoot people directly, which is a weakness.
The Strongest Attacker in Ranked Battles: "Tachikawa Kei"
He's one of the strongest A-rank corps members, ranking first in both his overall individual ranking and his individual attacker ranking. He wields his sword trigger, "Kogetsu," and is so skilled that he once outmatched Jin before he acquired the black trigger. He has a battle-crazy side, and excels not only in combat but also as a field commander. However, he's sloppy in his personal life, and is said to have had many bad experiences. In Season 2, she finds herself battling the Galopula assault team. According to Jin's premonition, she'll be cut in half.
The Deceived Axe-Wielding High School Girl, "Kirie Konan"
A high school girl at Tamakoma First. She's a senior to Osamu and Yuma, and is a very expressive older sister who often challenges Yuma and even presses her body against Osamu to get close to him. Her skills are incredibly high, and she uses her axe-shaped, firepower-focused special trigger, "Sougetsu," to slice through Trion soldiers with ease. Although he's a gullible character who gets toyed with easily, he intercepts the assault force during the Galopula raid in Season 2.
Small and High-Performance: "Kazama Souya"
Despite his short stature, he possesses exceptional combat skills and a strategic eye, devising tactics using Chameleon and quickly rising to third place in A-Class. He has a keen eye for people, as seen in the effectiveness of Kikuchihara's side effect and scouting him out. Despite his harsh words, he's a respected figure within Border. Though short, he's actually older than Tachikawa and is on the older side even within Border. In Season 2, he engages with the Galopula assault force, demonstrating his compact size and high performance.
The Honest Attacker: Murakami Hagane
A B-class Borderer, ranked 4th in attacker rank. He utilizes the Kogetsu and Raygust to maintain the front line in battle, and has a broad perspective that prioritizes the bigger picture, even at the expense of his own health. Possessing the side effect of enhanced sleep memory, she has a faster learning rate than most and boasts unrivaled strength in one-on-one battles against opponents she has fought before. In the Galopula arc of Season 2, she defends the expedition ship alongside Tachikawa, Konan, and Kazama.
Nasu Rei: The Female Squad's Captain Shooter
The captain and ace of the all-female Nasu Squad. A shooter who primarily uses Vipers, she has the ability to set trajectories in real time, a skill only Nasu and Izumi possess, enabling her to launch full-surround attacks. In the second season's Galopula arc, she clashes with Wen So, who is holding back the assault team.
Sexual Harassment Victim: Attacker "Tomoko Kumagai"
Nasu Squad's ace and attacker, supporting Nasu. While she usually supports Nasu, she is also a capable individual. A beautiful woman with a great figure, she is often sexually harassed by Jin, but she apparently fights back each time. In the second season's Galopula arc, she faces off against Wen So, who uses tricky tactics, alongside Nasu.
Hyus, a Young Aftokrator User
A young user who arrived on an Aftokrator expedition. He wields the Aftokrator's unique trigger, "Lampiris (Butterfly Shield)," and his skills are recognized even by Old Man Visa. However, after the efforts of Osamu Mikumo and others were unable to capture Chika Amatori, he was left behind in Genkai for political reasons. Hughes's future master was the leading candidate for the position of god, and Hyrein and his men had planned a Plan B: to elevate him to godhood. However, they feared that this would effectively mean death and Hughes would likely reject his request and turn against them.
A Deal to Return to Aftokrator
Hughes contacted the Galopula expeditionary force and planned to return via Galopula. However, he learned that Hughes had been abandoned by his homeland. In order to return to Aftokrator at all costs, Hughes made a deal with Border and joined Tamakoma Second in the rank battles.
[World Trigger 2nd] Character Summary
We've introduced the main characters of World Trigger and those who will play an active role in the second season. Each character in World Trigger, both enemies and allies, is well-defined, and the enemy isn't necessarily "the absolute evil." One of the fascinating parts of the series is the unpredictability of who will play a key role, as formidable opponents in the rank battles can become reliable allies in actual defense battles. The second season of World Trigger will begin airing in January 2021.
