Egao no Daika is the story of two girls born on the same planet, but with completely different destinies. One of them is Princess Yuki Soleil of the Soleil Kingdom, who never loses her smile and wishes to make everyone smile. The other is Stella Shining, a soldier of the Grandiga Empire who protects herself with a fake smile. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the "Theurgia," the mecha owned by these two countries!

What are Theurgia?

Theurgia in battle

You're probably wondering, "What exactly are theurgia?" Let's explain! Theurgia are mecha used in Egaonodaika battles, and are piloted by a pilot inside. The Soleil Kingdom possesses three types, while the Grandiga Empire possesses two.

What are Theurgia capable of?

Theurgia of the Soleil Kingdom

Theurgia can't fight in futuristic ways like firing beams or flying! Instead, they fight in a down-to-earth way, equipped with weapons like guns and axes, as well as shields. Perhaps this fighting style was intentionally chosen to portray the conflict between less culturally advanced nations!

Theurgia's design is handled by a famous designer!

Despite its down-to-earth fighting style, Theurgia's design is incredibly cool! The Soleil Kingdom's Theurgia has a white base with pink lines, giving it a design that makes it look like it could even shoot beams. And it's no surprise! The Theurgia was actually designed by Ihara Toshiaki, who was in charge of mecha design for Full Metal Panic!

The Grandiga Empire's Theurgia was designed by Yanase Takayuki, who also designed the Gundam Dunabes from Mobile Suit Gundam 00! As it's a mass-produced machine, it has a solid black base with blue lines, which is also cool!

Now that we've covered the basics of the Theurgia, we'll take a closer look at their performance and differences.

Three Types of Soleil Kingdom's Theurgia!

Joshua tries to protect Yuuki

The Soleil Kingdom, with a more advanced culture than the Grandiga Empire, is home to three types of Theurgia. Furthermore, by equipping Theurgia with a new energy source called "New Type Klarus," exclusive to the Soleil Kingdom, you can power up even the same type of Theurgia!

Garud

Garud

This is a "single unit," meaning it's not a mass-produced model. It's also the main Theurgia of the Soleil Kingdom, so knights who excel in combat pilot it. This Garud is also equipped with the new Klarus! It's highly mobile, making it ideal for frontline combat. It's also equipped with a gunlance and shield. Main members like Joshua, Uni, and Harold use it.

Squire

Squire

This is a mass-produced Theurgia specialized for close-range combat. It's primarily a support for Gard! When Gard is about to be attacked, it attacks with a machine gun or a small axe to drive away the attacker. It's effective not only at close range but also at mid-range. Among the main members, Rene uses this!

Kuribanoh

Kuribanoh

This is a mass-produced machine specialized for rear support. It is characterized by its large cannon. Since its main role is to fire artillery from the rear, it doesn't appear prominently in battle scenes, but it is an important support unit. Unfortunately, no main characters in the story use this unit.

Two types of Theurgia from the Grandiga Empire!

Grandiga Soldiers

Although the Grandiga Empire is less technologically advanced than the Soleil Kingdom, it overwhelmingly outnumbers them by recruiting soldiers from among its citizens. Theurgia also only has mass-produced units, but as a country blessed with mineral resources, it is equipped with a wide variety of weapons!

Crewe I (Crewe Ins)

Crewe I

This is the Grandiga Empire's main Theurgia. By changing its armament, it can be used for both close combat and long-range support! Stella and the others also pilot this Theurgia. The Grandiga Empire organizes its Theurgia in platoons and tackles any situation with this Theurgia. It is often equipped with a machine gun and a circular shield.

Krewe II (Krewe Zwei)

Krewe II

This is actually a Krewe I equipped with heavy armor. So, of course, this is also a mass-produced model. It's equipped with a cannon on the right shoulder, a long rifle, and smoke dischargers on its arms. This alone makes it look like a walking tank, but there are also Theurgia equipped with Gadling guns. As expected from a country blessed with mineral resources...

Theurgia Performance Summary.

Destroyed City

So, what did you think of the introduction to each Teurugia? The anime is finally reaching its climax, and the Soleil Kingdom seems to have no other options. However, with the mysterious Garud mech that chased Stella and her friends to the point of being unable to fight, it's still unclear what will happen next! Is the day approaching when Yuuki and Stella will regain their true smiles? We can't wait until the final episode!
