Wave, Listen to Me! is a radio comedy that begins when the main character, Tsumura Minare, has a refreshing personality but can also be a bit of a troublemaker, is scammed out of 500,000 yen by her ex-boyfriend. Eventually, her talent is discovered and she becomes involved in radio program production as a radio personality. We'd like to introduce you to this unique main character, Tsumura Minare.
Why did this happen to me!? How did Tsumura Minare become involved in radio?
It all started when Minare Tsumura, a female employee at the curry shop "VOYAGER," was scammed out of 500,000 yen by her ex-boyfriend. After being scammed out of that money, Minare was drinking at an izakaya and complaining to a stranger. The next day, with no memory of what happened after drinking, she returned to work at the curry shop as usual. Then, the contents of the conversation she had just had were broadcast on the in-store radio.
Minare Attacks
After hearing the broadcast, Minare decides to attack the radio station. In fact, a strange man named Kenji Asato, whose true identity she doesn't even know, is the station's director, and he has recorded Minare's conversation and is playing the audio. Minare attempts to stop the radio broadcast by forcibly stopping it, but instead, she is persuaded by Asato and ends up speaking on the radio.
Welcome to the world of radio
Mato discovers Minare's talent and proposes that she have her own radio show. Meanwhile, Minare is on the verge of being fired due to her poor work attitude and the unfair and arbitrary decisions of the curry shop manager. Having been scammed out of her money and left almost penniless, Minare has no choice but to enter the world of radio.
A straightforward type? This is the personality of our main character, Minare Tsumura!
Minare has a straightforward personality and a simple mind that allows her to completely move on from unpleasant things after a few days of rage. She clearly expresses what she wants to say, acts impulsively without thinking things through, and has a bad drinking habit that causes her memory to fade, often getting her into unnecessary trouble. However, she is the protagonist who can overcome impulsive situations with her natural adaptability and improvisation.
Is Minare Tsumura actually a bit of a pushover?
Minare has such a straightforward personality, but even though she declared on the airwaves that she would chase and kill her ex-boyfriend Mitsuo, who scammed 500,000 yen from her, when they actually reunite, she wonders if he's had a change of heart. And even though she knows in her head that it's clearly a trap, she almost falls for it, thinking that maybe it wasn't. Her naive personality is so naive.
The Troublemaker: Minare Tsumura
Minare often resorts to alcohol to escape any trouble, and when she drinks, she gets nasty with people, loses her memory, and becomes out of control, often causing trouble. In fact, Minare's troublemaking side is what led her to become a radio personality, as she was consumed by alcohol, and even continued to do so afterward, leading to her framing a neighbor for a crime she didn't commit.
Sometimes it's her own doing, and sometimes not...
Minare ends up kneeling after falsely accusing her neighbor of a crime she didn't commit. Then, separately, she frames the same neighbor for another crime, and while that crime was ultimately her own fault and partly her own doing, she also gets into trouble unrelated to her actions, such as being kidnapped by a religious group and forced to produce a radio program. It seems like trouble is inevitable, no matter how hard she tries. The more trouble Minare gets into, the greater the response to the radio show.
Minare Tsumura's hidden secret: exceptional physical abilities
She actually possesses exceptional physical abilities, especially when faced with a crisis, and she unleashes her superhuman strength. Madoka Kayashiro suspects this is a hidden plot twist. While she claims there's no such thing, her combat abilities are impressive, as seen in her ability to perform a Frankensteiner on men approaching her from behind and her ex-boyfriend, and her ability to choke out grown men. Her impressive fighting abilities suggest she was born to be a fighter.
Minare's courage
Minare is adept at improvising, even on impromptu radio shows. She lives life on impulse... Thanks to that, she has the courage to pull off anything even slightly unreasonable. However, because she's so impulsive, it's not always the case that her impulsiveness leads to a solution; she often jumps to conclusions and ends up kneeling down. She's a woman who walks the fine line.
What is Minare Tsumura's radio show, "Listen to the Waves!"?
Minare's signature show, "Listen to the Waves!", airs from 3:30 AM. Director Asato suggested that each episode have a completely different theme. As a result, each episode of Minare's radio show is staged to resemble a broadcast accident, and some episodes are even incident-like, making it a show that never runs out of topics.

[Listen to the Waves!] Tsumura Minare Summary
She's a very spontaneous girl who often gets into trouble, but those troubles become the subject of her radio show. Minare's broadcasts are often so hilarious they could almost be called broadcast accidents, but this unrestrained freedom is what makes the show so appealing! I highly recommend this anime, as it's sure to be a hilarious one! It starts airing in April 2020, so be sure to check it out!
