The second season of "Tokyo Revengers", which became popular after the anime aired and caused a huge boom, will be aired from January! There are several works that have gained explosive popularity from anime, but this is one of the works that aired in 2021. I would like to look back on the second half of the first season of the anime and summarize it!
Episode 13 Odds and Ends
After Hinata's funeral, Naoto laments that fate cannot be changed, but Takemichi speculates that Draken's death was not the root cause of all this. Then, in order to change Toman and become the leader of Toman, he decides to time leap again. However, before that, the two need to know why Hinata died even though Draken was alive.
Episode 13②
In this future, Draken was not dead. Draken was not a member of Toman and his whereabouts were unknown, but it turns out that he is currently on death row. When he meets Draken through Naoto's introduction, he finds that he has not changed at all from the past Draken. However, Draken has a strong murderous intent towards Kisaki Tetta, an important figure in the current Toman. Although I didn't get to hear the details, there was no doubt that Kisaki was heavily involved in Hinata's death.
Episode 14 Break up
Takemichi returns to the past again and the appointment ceremony for the 3rd Division, which will replace Toman's captured Par-chin, is held. The person appointed there is Kisaki Tetta. Mikey appointed Kisaki as the captain for the conflict with Barahara, but for Takemichi, the person who could be said to be the source of all the tragedies suddenly appears in front of him, and he can't stand it and hits Kisaki. In a tense situation, Takemichi is hit by Keisuke Baji, the former captain of the First Division, who was banned from the meeting, and leaves the scene after declaring his withdrawal from Toman. Takemichi is punched by Kisaki and passes out.
Episode 14②
When Takemichi wakes up, Mikey is sitting next to him. Mikey asks Takemichi to bring back his childhood friend and founding member, Baji. Takemichi begs Mikey with a terrifying expression to expel Kisaki, and Mikey makes it a condition that he bring Baji back. He also says that he will kill him if he cannot do so. Mikey knows that Kisaki is a dangerous person, but he still needs Kisaki's power to fight against Barubara.
Episode 15 No Pain, No Gain
In order to bring Baji Keisuke back, he needed information about Barubara. According to Yamagishi, who is knowledgeable about delinquents, Kisaki joined Toman with the former Aimi Aisu's classmates born in 1990, and Hanma Shuji, who led the older group, became the head of Barubara as the temporary president. However, the head of Barubara is currently unknown, with Hanma as the temporary No. 2, and below him is a person named Hanmiya Kazutora as No. 3.
Episode 15②
Amazingly, Hanmiya Kazutora is a senior at Takemichi's school, and Kazutora visits Takemichi's class and takes Takemichi away. When Takemichi is taken by Kazutora to Baruhara's hideout, he finds Baji beating up his confidant Matsuno Chifuyu as a testament. Takemichi is then brought in as a witness to see if Baji had really betrayed Toman. Baji is allowed to join, but Takemichi is not convinced and asks Baji how he could betray the group when he was a founding member. However, it turns out that Hamiya Kazutora was also a founding member and harbored strong murderous intent towards Mikey.
Episode 16 Once Upon a Time
One day two years ago, the six founding members of Toman went on a tour in Kanagawa. While everyone else was riding around on motorcycles, Mikey was the only one riding a moped... But even so, the six of them spent their days laughing. On the way to the beach, Mikey's moped ran out of gas, and Baji, who had lost a game of rock-paper-scissors, went to refuel, but a biker gang appeared and tried to take Mikey's moped and Baji. Mikey appeared and killed the biker gang in an instant, but the moped seemed to have been broken.
Episode 16②
Ichitora suggests stealing a motorcycle from a motorcycle shop for Mikey. Baji isn't very keen on it, but he thinks about Mikey and makes up his mind. However, just as he is about to steal it, a store clerk sees him, and Ichitora attacks the clerk from behind. However, the clerk is Mikey's older brother, Sano Shinichiro! His actions, which he thought were for Mikey's sake, lead to the worst possible outcome: Mikey's brother is killed.
Episode 17 No Way
The breakup between the two and Mikey was decisive. If Baji had left Toman after waiting for Ittora's release, there was no way he could have brought Baji back. Later, Takemichi met Matsuno Chifuyu, the vice captain of the First Division, who had been beaten by Baji as a stepping stone. Chifuyu was convinced that Baji had not betrayed Toman and left, but had infiltrated Baruhara to get a hold of Kisaki's tail. Takemichi and Chifuyu form a cooperative relationship to become the head of Toman and change the future, and to help Baji.
Episode 17②
To investigate Kisaki's movements, Takemichi and Chifuyu visit Osanai, the former head of Aimi Aishu. There, the two learn a shocking truth. Originally, Osanai was just a delinquent who was good at fighting, and it was all thanks to Kisaki's skills that he became the head of Aimi Aishu. And it was Kisaki who was behind the scenes, who started the conflict with Aimi Aishu by assassinating Parchin's family, and who tried to kill Draken using people. He wonders if Kisaki is the leader of Barahala in the absence of the president, and goes back to the future to check with Draken to confirm.
Episode 18 Open Fire
On the day of the decisive battle between Toman and Barahala, commonly known as "Bloody Halloween," Toman loses the conflict for the first time. And because Mikey killed Ittora, who had killed Baji, Mikey is filled with a deep darkness in his heart. Toman is then taken over by Baruhala and transforms into a major criminal organization. The key is to not let Baji die. Takemichi travels back in time again with a new mission: to rescue Baji.
Episode 18②
On October 30th, 12 years ago, the day before Bloody Halloween, Takemichi and Chifuyu met with Baji, and Takemichi told Baji, "Please get through tomorrow, please don't die." Then, on the day, Kazutora beat down the witness, which kicked off the Bloody Halloween, and finally the Bloody Halloween began.
Episode 19 Turn Around
Although the Toman executives show overwhelming strength, the difference in fighting power is large and Toman's numbers are being reduced. Draken is forced to struggle against the members of Baruhara who oppose him in terms of numbers and half-length, but it is Takemichi who changes the tide. Takemichi, who is the weakest member of Toman, desperately moves forward, inspires the Toman members who are injured and collapsed and almost broken. Draken, who had been fighting while protecting his comrades, is now free, and the situation on the battlefield changes dramatically.
Episode 19②
Hanma and Draken go one-on-one, while Mikey chases Ittora and ends up fighting three-on-one with Baruhara executives Chomé and Chonbo. Perhaps because of the poor footing and the fact that he is up against founding member Ittora, Mikey is cornered and continues to be hit by Ittora with an iron pipe, but when Ittora says he will kill his enemies, he loses his temper and kills the three in an instant.
Episode 20 Dead or Alive
After defeating Ittora and the others, Mikey loses consciousness after being hit with an iron pipe and sits down on the spot. The members of Baruhara gather around Mikey, saying that they can take his head now, but it is Kisaki, the captain of the 3rd Division, who saves Mikey. Kisaki makes his presence known by protecting Mikey, but Takemichi realizes that Kisaki has staged this situation with calculation. Whether Toman wins or loses, Kisaki is working to achieve his goal.
Episode 20②
Everything is in Kisaki's hands... but Baji bursts in and attacks Kisaki. Baji has been waiting for this moment. The situation changes when Baji attacks Kisaki. Takemichi and Chifuyu try to stop Baji to protect him, but Takemichi does not notice that Ichitora, who is supposed to kill Baji, has disappeared without a trace, and Baji is stabbed by Ichitora. However, he avoids a fatal wound and blows away the soldiers of the 3rd Division.
Episode 21 One and Only
Baji was not able to avoid the fatal injury. Baji, who had been forcing himself to move, collapsed, bleeding, and Mikey, enraged, instantly killed Hanma and began punching Ichitora with enough force to kill him. Just as Mikey thought that no one could stop Mikey anymore, the dying Baji stood up and Mikey came to his senses. And in order to prevent Mikey from killing Ichitora and to make the fact that Ichitora had killed Baji go unpunished, Baji took his own life. Baji tells Takemichi that he saw Kisaki trying to get in Mikey's way by getting Pachin out of prison with money, that there could only be Pachin as the captain of the 3rd Division, and that he entrusts the future of Toman and Mikey to him before dying.
Episode 21②
Mikey's anger at Baji's death does not subside, and he tries to kill Ittora, but Takemichi steps in and stops Mikey. Even though he was beaten to a pulp, Baji chose to die himself rather than be killed by Kazutora, and persuades Kazutora that he did so to make Kazutora feel no guilt. Baji cries and insists that he acted and died for the sake of Toman, Mikey, and Kazutora, and Mikey finds the amulet that Takemichi picked up by chance at the shrine.
Episode 22 One for all
When Mikey was 12, he created Toman to start a conflict with a motorcycle gang called Kuroryu, and he bought that amulet at that time. Everyone in Toman finds out that Baji was fighting alone, and Ichitora stays with Baji and turns himself in. Although Baji's death was inevitable, the conflict that came to be called Bloody Halloween ended with Toman's victory, and the only thing that was avoided was the future in which Mikey kills Ichitora.
Episode 22
When Baji and Chifuyu met, Baji was dressed seriously. Baji was so stupid that he had Chifuyu teach him in middle school. One day, when Chifuyu was being beaten up by other delinquents, Chifuyu burst in and easily defeated them all, and from then on became Baji's right-hand man. Not everything went well, but Baji and Takemichi definitely changed the future.
Episode 23 End of Wae
Bloody Halloween ended with the death of Baji and the arrest of Kazutora, which was a very unsettling result. However, Mikey still could not have killed Kazutora, and the future in which Kisaki takes over Toman could have been avoided. On the way back from visiting Ichitora with Draken, Takemichi stops by Draken's house. It's a typical adult store, which takes Takemichi by surprise, but Draken expresses his gratitude in his room. No matter what anyone says, Draken seems to care about Emma. However, on the way back, he witnesses Mikey and Emma embracing each other. If Draken were to see something like this, a bloody conflict would begin... Takemichi begins tailing them with Hinata and Naoto, whom he meets by chance.
Episode 23②
While Mikey and Emma are on a date, Draken bursts in and it seems like a tense moment, but he learns that Mikey and Emma are actually siblings. Later, Takemichi is called to Mitsuya's school and learns of his unexpected side as the head of the handicraft club. After receiving the special attack uniform he made, he attends a Toman gathering.
Episode 24 A Cry baby
For some reason, Hanma Shuji was at the meeting. There, Hanma declared that Baruhara would join Toman. And the merger was handled by Kisaki. If things continue like this, Toman will be taken over by Kisaki. He despairs that the future cannot be changed, but the story does not end there. First Division Vice Captain Matsuno Chifuyu appoints Takemichi as the new First Division Captain. Believing that the future has now changed, Takemichi returns to the present.
Episode 24②
Today, Takemichi is no longer a shabby part-timer like he was in the past, but reigns as an executive of Tokyo Manji Gang. There, there were familiar faces among the executives, as well as newcomers whose faces he had never seen before. And, Kisaki was also there. However, at the meeting, Takemichi and Chifuyu were drugged by Kisaki and captured as traitors. In this world, Chifuyu, who became Takemichi's right-hand man, was shot dead as Judas, and Takemichi was also about to meet the same fate. However, Kisaki looks angry and disappointed at Takemichi who is crying in fear, and finally says "See you, my hero" before pulling the trigger.
【Tokyo Revengers】Review of the second half of season 1
Looking back at the first season of the hugely popular anime, Tokyo Revengers! Each episode was carefully made, and the anime only covered about 8 volumes of the original manga compared to the 24 episodes. In the original Tokyo Revengers manga, the main character Takemichi's presence was a little weak, but this wasn't the case in the carefully made anime, and I think it was a worthwhile work! If they make a second season with this level of quality, I'm sure it will be an interesting anime, so I can't wait!
