The long-awaited Season 2 of TIGER & BUNNY will be released soon, so we've put together a summary of what the story of Season 1 was like! This is the second part, covering episodes 14 through the final episode. We also have an article summarizing episodes 1 through 13, so be sure to check that out too!
Tiger & Bunny Episode 14: Love is Blind
Ten months after the Jake incident, Barnaby and Tiger have become a well-coordinated team, with Barnaby dominating the hero rankings by a wide margin and Tiger ranking fourth. Even though Kotetsu didn't make a big impact in the incident, he had earned Barnaby's trust. Seeing the two of them like this made Blue Rose anxious.
Episode 14②
Blue Rose, who gets irritated whenever she thinks about Kotetsu, doesn't quite understand her own feelings. Kotetsu is a father of two and a half decades older than her. However, when a towel given to her as a gift is stolen by a dressing room thief, she bursts into tears.
The dressing room thief was a man who had previously served as Barnaby's representative. He noticed that the dressing room security was lax and began committing crimes repeatedly. Tiger tries to catch the culprit, but strange changes occur to his body, such as his powers suddenly becoming stronger and the effects of his powers ending even though they were supposed to be time-limited.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 15: The Sky's the Limit...
As Tiger and Barnaby continue to rise to prominence, former No. 1 Sky High, aka Keith Goodman, sighs. However, this isn't because he's lost his number one spot, but because he's fallen in love with a woman he met just a few days ago. Whenever Keith talks to her in front of the fountain, her reaction is almost robotic. Keith confides in her that he's worried about whether he can live up to everyone's expectations.
Episode 15②
After finishing their interview, Kotetsu and Barnaby find a NEXT superhuman going berserk and attempt to subdue him. The superhuman is the woman Sky High was in love with. She uses her incredible strength to separate the two while muttering the word "hero." She's not human, but a high-performance android developed by Dr. Rotwang, who once worked under Barnaby's parents. Loaded with hero data, she reacts to the word "hero" and goes berserk. Sky High rushes to the scene and destroys her, and Barnaby regains his confidence. However, he never sees the woman who once encouraged him again.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 16: Truth Lies at the Bottom of a Well.
Lunatic, a dark hero who punishes criminals, is actually Yuri Petrov of the Justice Bureau. He is the biological son of the former superhero Mr. Legend. The reason why he became Lunatic is closely related to the abnormalities currently occurring in Kotetsu's body. Kotetsu's NEXT has begun to decline, and now he can no longer last five minutes. The same symptoms are occurring in Legend, who shares the same ability and determined Kotetsu's path.
Episode 16②
In the final years of his life, the Legend's abilities began to decline, leading to a cycle of fixing matches to earn points and alcohol-fueled domestic violence. When Yuri tried to stop his father from abusing his mother, the Flame NEXT manifested and he went berserk. His father was burned to death, and his mother became mentally ill. This incident led to the creation of Lunatic.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 17: Blood is Thicker Than Water.
With his abilities seriously declining, Kotetsu applies to return to his parents' home. While his daughter Kaede scolds him for his insensitivity, Kotetsu returns to his parents' home for the first time in a long while. Kotetsu struggles to bring himself to admit his strange behavior, but he eventually confides in his brother Muramasa. Kotetsu has sacrificed many things to become Wild Tiger. Not only for his daughter, but for his heroism, he was even unable to be with his wife when she died.
Episode 17②
The next day, Kotetsu's mother suddenly collapses. While she only slightly collapses and is completely unharmed, Kaede is deeply distraught. Without her father by her side, her grandmother is a very important presence for Kaede. Then, Kaede is left stranded at a shrine during a heavy rain. A tree falls, trapping Kaede, and Kotetsu desperately searches for her, eventually using his powers to rescue her. Realizing how lonely he has made Kaede feel, Kotetsu decides to retire from being a hero.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 18: Ignorance is bliss.
With his daughter Kaede awakening to her NEXT abilities and struggling to control them, Kotetsu had to immediately tell her of his intention to retire, but he found it difficult to do so. Meanwhile, upon hearing that Cream, who had been in a coma since Jake's incident, had woken up, Kotetsu and Barnaby went to hear what she had to say. Cream revealed that Jake was not the one who murdered Barnaby's parents, and went after Jake herself.
Episode 18②
In Barnaby's memory, Jake was undoubtedly the murderer of his parents, and he had a Ouroboros tattoo on his right hand. However, when Kotetsu checked Jake's video, the tattoo was nowhere to be found. Barnaby felt as if his memories were crumbling, making it even more difficult for him to bring himself to retire.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 19: There's No Way Out. A Rat in a Bag
Kotetsu invites the haggard Barnaby to a place deep in his memories. It was a way to cheer Barnaby up and to remind him of something. He even bought him a matching pin badge and forced him to wear it, trying to cheer him up somehow. However, an unexpected turn of events revealed that Kotetsu was considering retirement. This led to a definitive breakdown in their relationship.
Episode 19 Part 2
Barnaby had come to consult with Maverick, his guardian and the heroes' boss. Maverick was a benefactor to Barnaby, and on the day of the murder, he met with him and took a photo. However, Maverick was not in the photo shown to him by his housekeeper, Samantha. Finally, Barnaby discovered the mastermind behind his parents' murder. Maverick used the media and criminal organizations to stage a farce in which the heroes would arrest them, creating the HEROTV of today. It was Maverick who discovered all of this and murdered the Barnabys. Maverick had been using Barnaby's memory-manipulating NEXT.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 20: Full of courtesy, full of craft. Honey in the mouth, sword in the belly
After manipulating Barnaby's memories in NEXT, Maverick summons Kotetsu and attempts to seal his mouth. However, Kotetsu accidentally evades Maverick's scheme and heads to his housekeeper Samantha, believing she holds some kind of clue. However, he is unable to find her. Maverick and his subordinates have already imprisoned Samantha, destroying all evidence before eliminating her. Maverick then summons the other heroes, as well as his superiors, Agnes, and other related parties.
Episode 20②
When Kotetsu arrives at his workplace at Apollo Media, strangely, no one remembers him. Then, he hears shocking news on the news: Samantha has been murdered, and Kotetsu's name has been raised as the culprit and he is on the wanted list. Kotetsu, unsure of what's going on, is forced to flee.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 21: Heaven Helps Those Who Help Themselves.
Now on the wanted list, Kotetsu finds himself confronted by the heroes he's fought alongside. Due to Maverick's memory manipulation, all the heroes had forgotten about Kotetsu. Kotetsu desperately fled the scene, facing the heroes whose strength he only realized when they became his enemies. With the entire city facing his enemies, Kotetsu was confronted by none other than Wild Tiger. Tiger was, of course, a fake, but the other heroes assumed it was the real Tiger.
Episode 21②
Surrounded by enemies, it was Lunatic who came to Kotetsu's rescue. Lunatic had a special attachment to Tiger and was unaffected by Maverick's memory manipulation, making him one of the few people who knew Kotetsu's innocence. Kotetsu panicked, fearing that the taxi driver he happened to be riding in would report him, but it turned out to be Ben, Kotetsu's former boss. Ben was also one of Kotetsu's few allies, and Wild Tiger appeared wearing Tiger's old suit, which Ben had entrusted to him. Meanwhile, Kaede, unable to wait any longer, arrived in town.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 22: Bad luck often brings good luck. Unprecedented fortunes.
Tiger appears before the heroes with the idea that if they see Tiger in his old suit, they'll remember. Naturally, they don't remember. Tiger tells everyone a story only he knows, but no one believes him except Blue Rose. Then, Kaede appears, and the heroes see a ball of light she creates by copying Maverick's powers, and they remember everything.
Episode 22 Part 2
Kaede's ability to copy Maverick's is discovered, revealing him to be the mastermind behind everything. While the heroes' memories are undone, Barnaby's memory remains unaltered when he arrives, as Kaede's ability has been rewritten. With the help of Saito, whose memory had not been manipulated, Tiger and Barnaby embark on a motorcycle chase, finally arriving at the place where the two first met.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 23: Misfortunes Never Come Singly.
After a fistfight between Barnaby and Tiger, Barnaby defeats Maverick's memory manipulation on his own. He returns to Apollo Media with Ben and Saito, who rush to the scene, and attempts to settle things with Maverick, but the other heroes are captured, put in strange collars, and imprisoned in a room full of spikes.
Episode 23②
Waiting for the two is a fake Tiger. Its true identity, H-01, was a combat android created by Rotwang, who had teamed up with Maverick in the android incident. The captured heroes then learned of Rotwang's plan to replace the heroes with androids, and offered to spare one of them if they sacrificed their other comrades.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 24: Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Enter the tiger's den, gain the cub.
Tiger and Barnaby battled the high-performance combat android, but they were on the defensive, unable to find a solution. The other heroes were forced to play the Prisoner's Dilemma, but Rotwang, who discriminated against NEXTs, was unwilling to help anyone. Tiger and Barnaby's powers expired and they battled again, but H-01 was too strong and the two were left in a desperate situation. Kotetsu risked his life to hold H-01 back, and Barnaby fired the laser gun it had dropped, barely defeating it.
Episode 24②
Meanwhile, Kaede, who had copied Blue Rose's powers, managed to defuse the situation and defuse the bomb. However, Tiger's powers had worn off and he was unable to avoid the lasers, leaving him near death. It was then that Kotetsu finally told Barnaby about his declining powers, and Barnaby learned why Kotetsu wanted to retire.
Tiger & Bunny Episode 25: Eternal Immortality
Tiger dies, but the battle isn't over yet. Maverick and Rotwang reappear and unleash the mass-produced H-01, which they'd struggled so hard to defeat. The heroes stand no chance. With all hope seemingly lost, the android suddenly ceases to function. Mechanic Saito activates safety mode just in time. At first glance, Maverick seems cornered, but his immense power laughs, trying to cover it all up. However, the contents of this conversation were broadcast on television. In fact, HEROTV's Agnes' memory manipulation had also been undone, and she had been waiting for an opportunity until this very moment, filming.
Episode 25②
Completely cornered, Maverick attempts to escape by taking Kaede hostage, but is saved by Tiger, who appears from behind. Tiger is not dead; he was merely unconscious from the pain. Realizing his end is near, Maverick declares, "Ouroboros will never end," and becomes a crippled hero through his own powers. Kotetsu retires from being a hero, and Barnaby, no longer having a reason to fight, also retires. However, a year later, Wild Tiger makes a comeback as Wild Tiger One Minute, a part-time hero, after announcing his diminished abilities. Tiger remains as clumsy as ever, and finds himself in a difficult position, but is dashingly rescued by Barnaby, who has also returned to being a hero.
[TIGER & BUNNY 2] Season 1 Spoiler Summary (Part 2)
Here's a summary of the contents of Tiger & Bunny Season 1, from episode 13 to the final episode! The mystery surrounding the Ouroboros organization remains unsolved, and it wasn't explored extensively in the sequel film. I expect Season 2 will explore this issue in depth! It's a highly entertaining and highly recommended series, so if you haven't seen it yet, I recommend watching Season 1 thoroughly and then watching Season 2.
