Season 2 of the popular anime series "TIGER & BUNNY," which first aired in 2011 and was later adapted into a feature film, will soon be available. In the world of Tiger & Bunny, superheroes with supernatural powers apprehend criminals and carry out disaster relief operations. However, they are also office workers who wear the logos of their sponsoring companies. These heroes also have real-life sponsors, which has become a hot topic. Wild Tiger/Kotetsu T. Kaburagi
A hero affiliated with Apollon Media. He was previously affiliated with a company called TopMaG, but after the company withdrew from the business, he was rehired by Apollo Media. He's nicknamed the "Destroyer of Justice" for his boldness, even if it meant damaging property to ensure the safety of civilians. Despite his youth, he's now a declining hero, ranking last. His rehiring was to complement Barnaby, who also possesses a NEXT ability. His sponsors include Softbank, S.H.Figuarts (Bandai), FamilyMart, and LOTTE.
NEXT Ability: "One Hundred Power" → "One Hundred Power One Minute"
His NEXT ability is a simple ability that allows him to unleash 100 times his power for five minutes. While it's easy to understand and use, it has a time limit and a one-hour cooldown after the effect wears off. It's a simple, yet versatile, ability, and since his new sponsorship, he's been able to take advantage of the powered suit's capabilities. However, Tiger's powers begin to weaken midway through the story, becoming unable to sustain them for five minutes, eventually only lasting for one minute. As a result, Tiger decides to retire after his fight with Maverick. However, he later reveals to the public that his powers have diminished and returns to the second division as a hero under the name One Hundred Power One Minute.
Barnaby Brooks Jr.
A hero affiliated with Apollo Media. He debuted as a "Super Rookie." He is young, handsome, and competent, and is the only hero whose real name has been made public. His goal is to find the culprit who murdered his parents. He reluctantly teams up with Wild Tiger, and initially their teamwork is fragmented due to Tiger's reckless behavior. However, after defeating Jake, he begins to trust Kotetsu and demonstrates a well-coordinated teamwork. Sponsored by Crusade (Bandai), amazon.co.jp.
NEXT Ability: "One Hundred Power"
Similar to Wild Tiger's ability, however, unlike Kotetsu, who uses his powers without thinking about the consequences, he carefully considers when to use them and solves cases efficiently, earning him popularity. After demonstrating a well-coordinated teamwork with Tiger, he surpasses Sky High to take the top spot in the rankings. Later, he discovers that his parents were murdered by his guardian, Maverick, and his memory is altered by Maverick's NEXT, causing him to become enemies with Tiger. However, he breaks free from the brainwashing on his own and settles things with Maverick. Having lost his reason for being a hero, Barnaby retired, just like Tiger, but a year later, when Tiger returned, he also returned to being a hero.
Blue Rose/Karina Lyle
A hero affiliated with Titan Industries. She is known as the "super idol of the hero world" and is also active as a singer. Her catchphrase is, "My ice is a little cold, and I completely hold back your evil deeds." She herself has sometimes felt uneasy about being a hero. After confiding her worries to Kotetsu, she begins to develop feelings for him, despite the fact that he is almost old enough to be her father. However, she is shocked to learn that Kotetsu is actually married (his wife has passed away) and has a teenage daughter. Sponsors include Pepsi and Suntory.
NEXT Ability: "Ice Manipulation"
With her ice manipulation ability, she can project ice from a special gun or from her palm. The ability itself is extremely powerful, allowing her to generate large amounts of ice in an instant, making her a major contributor to firefighting and saving lives. However, perhaps because she is a teenage high school girl, she is afraid of real guns and will use her "Cutie Escape" to flee when being fired upon by someone wielding heavy weaponry.
Rock Bison/Antonio Lopez
A hero affiliated with Chronos Foods. His catchphrase is "West Coast Bull Tank." He wears a suit with a green bull motif. He has known Kotetsu since their student days, and was one of the few characters who knew that Kotetsu was married. His sponsors are Gyukaku, HYBRID Futomedon Dodo, and Sukiya.
NEXT Ability: "Tough Skin"
Although he has the ability to harden his body, he often uses that power to his advantage in the story, and it doesn't seem like he's making the most of his ability. The only time he seemed strongest in the series was when Maverick's ploy cornered Kotetsu, but he didn't have many highlights. Perhaps because of this, his popularity rankings stagnated and he was on the verge of being abandoned by his parent company.
Sky High/Keith Goodman
A hero belonging to the Poseidon Line. Before Barnaby's rise, he was known as the "King of Heroes" and enjoyed immense popularity. After Barnaby took the top spot, he became known as the "Wind Magician." Though earnest, he has a charming quirk in his speech and behavior, and is always cheerful and upbeat when it comes to providing fan service. His natural and honest personality has earned him the trust of other heroes and fans alike. He is sponsored by USTREAM, TAMASII NATIONS (Bandai), MOVIX, and T-JOY.
NEXT Ability: "Controlling the Wind"
He controls the wind, harnessing the jets on his back for incredible mobility and firepower strong enough to cut through steel, allowing him to save lives and subdue criminals. These abilities allow him to arrive at the scene faster than anyone else and solve cases with ease, making him a hero who combines popularity and skill. However, when he faces Jake in a one-on-one fight, he is the first to be chosen, but is overwhelmed by his unknown powers and loses.
Dragon Kid / Huang Paolin
A hero affiliated with Odysseus Communications. Her catchphrase is "Lightning Kung Fu Master." Despite being a minor, she fights using martial arts and NEXT, mastered through special education. Although she looks like a boy, she is a real girl. She has a boyish personality and uses "boku" (my name) as her first-person pronoun. She dislikes feminine behavior. Sponsors include Calbee, DMM.com, and DAM.
NEXT Ability: "Controlling Lightning"
She can control electricity and use it to surround her body and attack. He also contributes to the arrest of criminals by combining his skills with those of his own martial arts training. He has a serious personality and has already built up a proven track record despite being the youngest member of the group.
Origami Cyclone/Ivan Karelin
A hero affiliated with Heliperides Finance. Nicknamed the "Mikire Master," he focuses on showcasing his sponsors' logos in every situation, rather than focusing on his heroic activities. His sponsors include .ANIME, BVC, Takasu Clinic, livedoor, minimini, Nanja Town, DMM.com, and Oedo Onsen Monogatari.
NEXT Ability: Mimicry
Nathan Seymour has the ability to mimic anything. Because he can only mimic things and cannot copy their properties, he initially feels inferior to his heroes and feels inferior about his abilities. However, after an incident involving a friend, he begins to confront himself. He has been well-received by sponsors and has gained a hidden following.
Fire Emblem/Nathan Seymour
Nathan Seymour is a hero affiliated with Helios Energy, where he serves as president. His catchphrase is "Bourgeois Grilled Over an Open Fire." He's a large, gay-looking black man who likes handsome men. He's the oldest among the heroes, and because of his gay personality, he's a very reliable leader and a great leader for the group. He usually speaks in a gay manner, but when he gets angry, he speaks in a masculine manner. His sponsors are FMV, animate, and Domino's Pizza.
NEXT Ability: "Fire Control"
He has the ability to control extremely high-temperature flames. His firepower is said to be the highest among NEXT ability users. In the movie The Rising, it's revealed that he suffered from gender identity disorder in the past. After being exposed to a traumatic experience while in a coma, his powers went out of control while he was asleep. Because his powers are so powerful, the other heroes and staff struggle to contain them.
