The anime "Kemono Friends" has been around for over a year since it first aired, but its popularity has not waned. It's a beloved series that's been adapted into stage plays, apps, collaboration cafes, and more.

In this article, we'll be focusing on the popular "Kemono Friends" character, the American Beaver, and introducing its charms.

While it has a cute, athletic appearance, it's said to actually be the most worrisome of all the "Kemono Friends" characters.

So, let's take a look.

American Beaver Profile

This is an American beaver friend. The "American beaver" is an animal that lives in marshes and wetlands with lakes and rivers. In Japan, the word "beaver" usually refers to the American beaver. Its hard, sharp front teeth and powerful jaws allow it to quickly gnaw down even the sturdiest trees.

Beavers have a habit of piling up wood to create dam lakes that serve as their nests. Because they use wood and mud to dam rivers, they are said to be the only animals other than humans who can reshape nature!

This characteristic is also reflected in Kemono Friends. In the anime, they can instantly understand how to build a log house just by looking at a picture of it.

However, in the anime, the American beaver is portrayed as a very anxious character. Although he wants to build a log house and has an image in his head, he is afraid of failure and has trouble assembling it.

He uses "ore-chi" as his first-person pronoun and ends his sentences with "~ssu." Although he looks athletic, he seems to have a quiet personality. He loves small, enclosed spaces.

An Encounter Between the American Beaver and the Black-Tailed Prairie Dog

The American Beaver made its first appearance in Episode 5, "Kohan."

After seeing a photo of a log house, the American Beaver thought, "I want to live in a house like that." He quickly obtained some lumber, but struggled to assemble it. Then, to his surprise, the Japari Bus, driven by Serval, crashed into the lumber.
So, as an apology for ruining the wood, Serval and Kaban decide to help build a log house.

Along the way, they meet a Black-Tailed Prairie Dog. She joins them and helps them procure wood.

In fact, the Black-Tailed Prairie Dog also wanted a home of his own. However, he's not good at making plans, and ends up just digging lots of holes.

The American Beaver is good at making plans but has trouble putting them into action, while the Black-Tailed Prairie Dog is good at working quickly and reliably but has no sense of organization. At Kaban's suggestion, the two decide to work together to build a log house for just the two of them. The American Beaver offers his support, and the Black-Tailed Prairie Dog immediately gets to work. The two get along perfectly. They complete a log house with a view, complete with a waterfront and underground passageways.

The two complement each other's shortcomings, hit it off perfectly, and decide to live in the log house together.
By the way, this duo is unofficially known as the "Kohan Combo."
