"The Hero Died!", which will begin airing in April 2023, is a silly, erotic battle fantasy in which an ordinary villager accidentally kills the hero who was supposed to save the world, and is forced to take on the role of hero! The man who killed the hero and took over is an ordinary person whose talent, personality, and character are completely unsuitable for a hero, but this is an interesting story in which this hero overcomes the situation with actions that are unbecoming of a hero! In this article, we would like to introduce the story up to the point where it is likely to be broadcast as an anime version of "The Hero Died!"!
Story Part 1: The Hero of the Holy Sword
Three years ago, the hero Shion Breidan sealed the Gates of Hell, saving the people from a demonic attack and bringing an end to the war. However, three months ago, the Gates of Hell were unsealed, and the demons began their invasion once again. Touka Scott, who lives in the southwestern village of Cheza, has no connection to this legendary hero or demon. He lives a peaceful life as a farmer, putting knee-high socks on the radishes he harvests and sexually harassing his childhood friend, Yuna Yunis. Then, one day, a terrifying demon arrives in Cheza.
The Hero of the Holy Sword 2
Touka attempts to defeat the terrifying demon using her specialty, a trap, but to no avail. The village is saved by the hero Shion, who rushes to the scene, but Shion falls into the trap Touka created and dies. The hero's body is buried by Touka and the villagers, wanting to escape responsibility, and humanity's hope is quietly shattered.
The Hero of the Holy Sword ③
The next morning, Touka wakes up to find that her body has become that of the hero Shion! In fact, the entire incident was witnessed by Henri Hayesworth, a necromancer who was part of the party that saved the world with the hero Shion. Following Shion's last wish, "If I die, I want someone to take over my body and save the world," Henri transferred Touka's spirit, who had buried the hero, into Shion's body. Touka's real body was taken hostage by Henri, and she was forced to set out to save the world as the hero, alongside her childhood friend Yuna, who understood the situation.
Story Part 2: The Power of the Hero
In the next town, Touka abuses his position as a hero, threatening shops and hiring women to serve him. However, he is suspected of being a false hero and is imprisoned, nearly condemned to lifelong slavery. With the support of Kyle Ozment, a member of the former hero's party, and Yuna, Touka attempts to clear up the misunderstanding by completing the demon-slaying assignment given to the guild. However, for some reason, Kyle, who supposedly helped him, ends up trying to kill him.
Story 3: The Bone Hero
While on his way to beg the king of the Farom Kingdom for money to repay a debt he had not yet repaid in his previous town, the hero's body rotted, leaving only bones. Touka's magical powers were insufficient to regenerate his body. The king of the Farom Kingdom was supposed to provide financial assistance, but this did not work out because the original hero was a saint who did not expect anything in return. Meanwhile, Touka meets Marguerite Farom, the third princess of the Farom Kingdom.
Story 4: The Hero Died.
In the royal capital, citizens are dying in mysterious ways, with not a single bone remaining in the bodies. While Touka and Marguerite are distracted, Yuna and Henri are captured by the perpetrator, and Marguerite is also captured. While rescuing Marguerite, Touka reunites with Yuna and the others, and together they join forces to take on the mass murderer.
Story Part 5: Country Town
After the incident, the party, joined by Marguerite, who had tagged along, stopped by the rural town of Moiran. They were attacked by a horde of townspeople who had lost their senses and turned into zombies. Yuna, who was bitten by a townsperson, also began to show the same symptoms. They decided to defeat the demon responsible. However, standing in their way was Diego Valentine, a battle-crazed necromancer with extraordinary magical powers. Despite Touka's bluffing and scheming, and unexpected reinforcements, they were unable to defeat Diego and break the spell that had been cast on Yuna and her friends.
Story Part 6: Master
Touka and her friends are rescued by a party led by Yuna's sister, Millie, and her father, Fieri. As the time limit for Yuna and her friends to become fully demonic approaches, they fall into a series of traps on their way to Diego's location. With Touka's quick thinking, she outwits the culprit who set the traps and uncovers his true identity, but it turns out to be Touka's master, Ezel Borgnine.
Story Part 7: If It's the Same as Back Then
After convincing the surprisingly easygoing Ezel to join her and resuming her journey, Touka somehow finds herself transported back in time. There, Touka relives her past and reunites with Yuna, who has now become a spirit. It turns out to be a video of the past shown to her by a high-ranking demon. Yuna learns of Touka's harsh past, before she met Ezel.
Story Part 8: Entry
As the time limit for Yuna's transformation into a demon approaches, Touka and her friends finally enter the necromancer's castle. Naturally, Touka doesn't fight head-on. Instead, she manages to escape her spirit form at the last moment, fooling the demon into thinking she's dead. She then sneaks out the back and rushes to the demonized demon via the shortest route possible. Disguised as a low-level demon, Touka attempts to trick the demonized demon, who is quite sensible, and deliver the final blow, but Henri's brother, Friedrich Norstein, stands in her way.
Story Part 9: The Promise
The necromancers were actually humans surviving in Hell. Three and a half years ago, the gates of Hell opened, allowing them to finally escape. However, what awaited them was relentless persecution by those outside. Having escaped Hell, only more hell awaited them. Friedrich's ultimate goal was not to seek revenge against those outside the gates, but to create a world where he could live in peace. To that end, he sought to overthrow the current system, but also to avoid unnecessary sacrifices.
Story 10: Fair and Honorable
Finally, Touka faces off against her sworn enemy, Diego. Diego has absorbed the demonic powers of demonic transformation into his body, so unless she defeats him, she will be unable to save Yuna and the others. Touka challenges Diego to a fair and honorable duel, and Diego accepts. Naturally, Touka has no intention of engaging in a proper duel.
Story 11: The World of the Holy Sword
Touka managed to catch Diego off guard, but Diego's power, wielding the corpse of one of the Four Great Demon Lords, Beltex, was far too great. With the cooperation of Yuna's spirit, Ezel's support, and the intervention of the mayor, Bellaco, Uma, and Kyle Ozment, the battle becomes an all-out war. Touka's body was already at its limit due to the repeated use of Soma's Droplets. Losing consciousness, Touka's mind travels to the World of the Holy Sword, where she is reunited with the supposedly dead hero, Shion.
Story 12: Disappearance
Touka's trump card was the hero Shion himself. The hero Shion's heart was still alive, sealed within the holy sword. The hero Shion was temporarily revived by borrowing Touka's body. Using Touka's body, Shion completely immobilized Vertex, but unable to use the holy sword, she was unable to deliver the final blow. Summoning her last bit of strength, Touka delivered a final blow to Vertex. While she failed to kill Diego's true form, Vertex's body was shattered and the demonic transformation magic was destroyed.
The Hero Died! Story Summary
I've summarized the story of The Hero Died! that is likely to be broadcast as an anime! The story continues, but I think this is all that will be shown in the anime. If there is a second season, I'm sure they'll cover episodes beyond this one! In fact, various mysteries will be solved and the true identity of the mastermind will be revealed, so I hope they'll show even more episodes beyond that in the anime!
