While this series features many intellectual battles, the most interesting parts are the battle scenes. You're probably wondering who's the strongest, right? So, let's rank the strongest characters, friend and foe alike! This time, we'll be ranking the strength of the characters who appeared up until the Gustave arc, which is thought to be the final enemy in the anime!
Tenth Place: Winona
Our pick for tenth place goes to Winona, formerly Elm's top hunter! Honestly, I'm not sure how strong Winona is, but she said she hasn't pushed herself too hard since getting married, so I've placed her in tenth place. However, his strength is such that he can instantly kill opponents at the Bronze Knight level. When facing large groups, he uses a scythe-like weapon, and when fighting one-on-one, he attacks with techniques reminiscent of professional wrestling moves. His willpower rivals that of Aoi, and he seems to have taken on some pretty reckless challenges even when facing an army.
Ninth Place: Inzaghi
Our ninth place pick is Inzaghi, the Superhuman High Schoolers' first enemy. Honestly, I think Winona would be stronger in a one-on-one fight, but he's the Silver Knight after all... As an enemy appearing early in the original story, he's a pushover character, but his sword strokes, which even for a moment made Tsukasa think he was "sharp," were impressive. He then fell for Tsukasa's plan and was defeated, meeting a tragic end with his head chopped off by Gustave.
Eighth Place: Tsukasa Mikogami
In eighth place is Tsukasa Mikogami, the leader of the Superhuman High Schoolers. He's skilled in both the arts and science, and his combat skills are far too flashy to be called self-defense. He even defeated Inzaghi, mentioned earlier, in a one-on-one battle, which is why he's ranked eighth. He's more of a brainiac and excels at strategizing, so considering not just physical strength but also tactics and other factors, he might be better ranked a little higher.
Seventh Place: Reisenach
In seventh place is the Golden Knight, Reisenach. Although he is a Golden Knight, one rank higher than the Silver Knight, Reisenach's weaknesses are quite mundane! First of all, he is clad in full body armor, which makes him difficult to distinguish from other mobs and makes him appear weak. Furthermore, the weapon he uses is a rather primitive giant club... To top it off, he betrays his allies and orders his subordinates to back him up when he is about to lose a one-on-one fight, making him a very petty character (lol). In the end, Jeanne takes advantage of the opportunity when he is frightened by a ninja's stun gun and is easily defeated.
Sixth Place: Jeanne Blumhardt
Our sixth place pick is Jeanne, who defeated Reisenach, as mentioned earlier! Though she ranks lower than the Silver Knight and Reisenach, she skillfully used her whip to overwhelm him in a one-on-one fight. At one point, Reisenach's dirty tricks put her in a "kukkoro" situation, but with the help of her ninja, she was able to safely escape the predicament and defeat Reisenach. He's also ruthless, stabbing his dagger through the gap in his armor to finish off his enemy!
Fifth Place: Clayzo
In fifth place is Clayzo, the Golden Knight and aide to Marquis Arcride. This character has a rather unassuming role and barely features in the comics. To give you an idea of how unassuming he is, I can't find any images of him no matter how hard I search (lol). However, unlike fellow Golden Knight Reisenach, he is loyal to his lord and will become a shield to protect his lord in times of trouble, making him a highly skilled knight. Marquis Arcride also seems to trust him greatly.
Fourth Place: Zest Bernard
Our fourth place pick is Zest Bernard, the commander of the Seven Lights Knights. While he doesn't hold titles like Silver Knight or Golden Knight, his greatest strengths are the immense trust he commands from his comrades and his reliable leadership skills. He's quickly adapted to modern weaponry and seems particularly adept with guns. He fights on the front lines of his unit, taking down Bronze Knight-level enemies with a single shotgun blast and advancing forward. His incredibly quick thinking is also appealing.
Third Place: Sarutobi Ninja
Our third place pick is the familiar Sarutobi Ninja. Contrary to his cute appearance, he's a descendant of ninja, possessing top-notch combat and danger detection skills. Even though he knew the magic's secrets, he easily dodged the vacuum blades that came at him with the speed of a pistol, closing in on his enemy and killing them. When he rescued Jeanne, he was so ruthless that he impaled the enemy's head with a kunai, killing them without question, even though they were human.
Second Place: Gustave
Second place goes to Gustave, the Duchess of Cleanliness! True to his name, he's extremely obsessive about cleanliness. After decapitating Inzaghi, he orders everything in his room to be burned, even the carpets replaced with new ones. Inzaghi's special move is the strategic magic of the treasure spear, Large Soleil. Hardened by magic over the course of years, this spear burns the surrounding area like a sentient flame until the original spear is destroyed.
First Place: Aoi Ichijo
And our top pick is none other than the world's strongest swordsman, Aoi Ichijo. His strength is unmatched, as evidenced by his ability to slice an armored opponent in half with a single slash. Even more impressive are Aoi's leg strength! He demonstrated superhuman strength by grabbing onto a missile and guiding it back while digging his feet into the ground, destroying Large Soleil. Her only weakness is that she has very few weapons that can match Aoi's power (lol).
Extra: Oohoshi Ringo
From here on, I'll be introducing some extra characters, starting with Oohoshi Ringo. She's probably the weakest character among the Superhuman High School students in terms of "combat ability." However, when you add her ability to "invent," she's undoubtedly the strongest among the Superhuman High School students! In addition to the modern weapons and duralumin shields used by the Seven Lights Knights, she also crafts aluminum shovels for village development and weapons of mass destruction like the nuclear weapon that defeated Gustave. Incidentally, she has a crush on Tsukasa and sometimes acts as a "Love Hunter," but unfortunately, her skills are on the level of a student (lol).
Strength Ranking Summary
So far, we've introduced the character strength rankings. What do you think? Aoi, who ranked first, is not only a master swordsman, but also possesses superhuman abilities, such as clinging to missiles and changing their trajectory. The strengths of each character will become clearer as the anime progresses, but how do you rank them?
