The long-awaited anime series "No Guns Life" began airing in October 2019. It features an overly cool protagonist, a boy with an overly strong sense of justice, and a girl with a strong personality (lol). In this article, we'll take a closer look at this quirky girl, Mary Steinberg. The quality of the story is completely different with or without Mary Steinberg. You're sure to fall in love with Mary Steinberg.
Who is Mary Steinberg?
Beautiful Girl
Mary Steinberg has long blonde hair tied up in a unique style, beautiful blue eyes—the kind of thing you'd expect to find in a beautiful woman—and a toned, slightly muscular body. She has a piercing in her mouth and doesn't look particularly good, but in this world, she's relatively commoner-looking. In "No Guns Life," she's treated like a beautiful girl!
Augmentation Technician
Mary Steinberg's job is as an augmentation technician. She's like a doctor, maintaining people who have undergone body augmentation technology. Her skills and knowledge are top-notch, and most of her patients are emergency cases. Tetsuro Arahabaki, a key character in this story, was able to regain the mobility of his immobile limbs through body augmentation technology thanks to Mary Steinberg's help. Incidentally, she works quietly underground, in a place with poor security. However, her work isn't illegal, and she's reliable.
Mary Steinberg and Inui Juzo
Childhood Friends
She and the protagonist, Inui Juzo, are childhood friends, meaning they've been inseparable ever since. It's not specified how long they've been friends, but they're so close that she teases the strict Inui Juzo constantly. They seem to meet often for work-related reasons, and when something happens, Inui Juzo immediately asks for her help, so they seem to trust each other well. They seem to be quite apart in age, though.
Saving the Pinch
In one scene, when Juzo Inui is in a critical condition and unable to fight, Mary saves him, though she hides her face. She's actually scary and doesn't want her true identity to be revealed, but she's also kind enough to still help him. However, her scenes of her scolding her enemies are incredibly cool, making her a popular character among women.
Mary Steinberg's Past
Orphan
When Mary Steinberg was younger, she was an orphan with nowhere to go. However, she and her brother, Victor Steinberg, found a home with their uncle and were able to live there. There, Victor Steinberg decided to pursue his uncle's job as an augmentation engineer. He spent his childhood in loneliness, waiting for Victor Steinberg's return, as he was often unable to see her due to work.
To War
This is her brother, Victor Steinberg. They have similar eyes! To further improve their body augmentation technology, he left Mary Steinberg behind and went to the battlefield. During this time, he developed a new augmentation technology called the Parallel Assist Brain. When Victor Steinberg conducted an experiment using himself as a test subject, an incident occurred.
Taken Over
Victor Steinberg's first sight on the battlefield was the technology he had thought would benefit people, but instead of saving them, it had become a source of suffering. He realized that, if taken too far, body augmentation technology can be a terrifying thing, changing not just one's appearance but also one's soul. Due to this mental disorder, Victor Steinberg's body was taken over by an auxiliary brain. From there, Mary Steinberg set out to find her beloved brother. It's truly unrequited.
Mary Steinberg and Victor Steinberg
Uncle
In reality, the uncle who took in the two orphans had died in an accident. However, in reality, he relentlessly pressured Victor Steinberg to become his successor as an augmentation engineer, and when Victor refused, he got into a fight and died. While unintentional, this shock likely changed Victor Steinberg and was the reason he separated from Mary Steinberg.
Strength
Victor Steinberg regretted the deaths of so many people due to the technology he developed, and considered killing everyone who had used the body augmentation technology he had developed. However, Mary Steinberg argued that even if body augmentation technology changes our appearance, humans possess the strength to change. She said that body augmentation technology only assists us, and that we should never be arrogant about it. What a fine augmentation engineer.
Still Going On
He once shot both Juzo Inui and Victor Steinberg. He was no longer the same Victor Steinberg of old, his appearance had changed so much that he was no longer the Victor Steinberg Mary Steinberg knew. "If you're going to hurt anyone else, at least do it with my own hands," he declared. However, it seems the real Victor Steinberg was somewhere else, and Mary Steinberg will continue to search for her brother. Let's continue our pursuit!
The Voice Actor of Mary Steinberg
Aimi Numakura
The voice of Mary Steinberg is the hottie Aimi Numakura, who got married in October 2019! Not only is she incredibly beautiful, she also loves alcohol (lol). She has a favorite doll and is a very popular idol voice actress. However, her favorite anime is apparently the Gundam series. Like Mary Steinberg, she's a beautiful girl with her own quirks (lol). Her character creation, from a lively girl to a calm woman, is truly impressive. Be sure to pay attention to her voice.
