One of the most talked about magical fantasy manga of 2018 is Radiant. Imported from France, it's the hottest classic shonen manga right now. As it was drawn by a French manga artist in a Japanese style, it's very much to the taste of Japanese people, but as it comes from France, the home of wizards, the content is authentic. In this article, we'll be introducing the appeal of a character called Grimm from Radiant.
Who is Grimm from Radiant?
The Wizard

He wears a wide-brimmed hat with two curled tips, a number of small items around his waist, and his entire body is covered in bandages. His expression is impossible to grasp, his mouth is split all the way to his ears, and his eyes glow red like a robot's. It looks like he's wearing a mask, so we can't see his real face. I hope he's handsome (lol). He has a very mysterious aura, and he definitely looks like a wizard.
Strength

At this point (as of December 22, 2018), we don't know what his purpose is or what kind of wizard he is. However, it seems he is searching for something and once comes into contact with the protagonist, Seto and his friends. The difference in strength is clear, and it is clear that he is quite strong. Seto was sent flying around, but from Grimm's perspective, he did not seem to be serious. He is not the type of person you would want as an enemy.
Purpose

The reason they contacted Seto and his friends was to find out their purpose. It seems they wanted to determine whether they would be an obstacle to Grimm's goal. What is Grimm thinking? It's still a mystery, but since he says he'll "definitely meet him," perhaps he's in Rumble Town for the same reason as Seto and the others.

This is Grimm from the opening. Something ghostly appears. Grimm always appears under moonlit nights. He appears on a broomstick on a night with a large moon. It's a very fantastical and cool image, but where he came from remains a mystery.
The Meaning of Death

"Grimm" refers to the Grim Reaper, or Grim Reaper. His weapon is a large sword that emerges from his palm. Grim Reapers carry large scythes, don't they? Given the similarities, the Grim Reaper theory seems quite plausible. It does seem a little scary to think of him as a Grim Reaper wizard, but doesn't this silhouette look cool?
Radiant: A Unique Atmosphere
First Person

This may be surprising, but Grimm uses his own name in the first person. "Grimm is..." sounds a bit childish, but the contrast with his appearance creates a sense of incongruity, which contributes to Grimm's unique atmosphere. The awkwardness is actually a good thing.
Polite

Although he treated Seto and the others quite roughly in Rumble Town, he is essentially a gentlemanly and polite wizard. It can't be helped that they both misunderstood each other at the time (lol). When he acts like a gentleman, he is very mature and cool. Maybe he is a French gentleman like the author!
