Announced as an attempt to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Legend of Mana, The Legend of Mana LoM The Teardrop Crystal is an anime adaptation of the Jewel Thief arc from the Legend of Mana LoM, released in 1999, and many people were surprised at the unexpected anime adaptation. LoM has a different worldview from previous Legend of Mana works, and the story takes place in the world of Fa-Diel, where creatures of all races coexist. A very large number of races appear, and the fantasy world like a picture book is an attractive work. In this article, we will introduce the various races of creatures that appear in LoM!
Appearing race No. 1: Beastmen
A human in the form of a beast. The main characters are Danae, L'Arc, and Sierra. In addition to beastmen, there are many humanoid demi-humans in Fa-Diel, but they are all collectively classified as humans. Some beastmen are difficult to classify.
Appearing race No. 2: Jewels
A race that has gems as their core. The main characters are Ruri, Princess Shinju, Lady Pearl, etc. In the anime, the story progresses with these Jewels at the center. If the core gem is damaged, they will be greatly weakened, and if it is stolen or destroyed, they will die. When only the core remains, there is a possibility of revival, but for this to happen, the healing tears shed by the Tamami are needed. However, because they were hunted by other races due to their healing power, the race as a whole has lost their healing power in order to preserve the species.
Appearing Race 3: Grass People
A race whose bodies are made of leaves. They are pure and innocent, and a bit ignorant. The grass people that exist all over the world actually share a consciousness and are all the same individual. They don't seem to have a gender, but when they bloom and become flower people, they are divided into men and women.
Appearing race #4: Flower people
It seems that when grass people evolve, differences between men and women emerge. However, their consciousness seems to be synchronized, and there are flower people who manage the keys to the Mindas ruins.
Appearing race No. 5: Dwarves
A small and strong race. The main characters are Watts and Hasson. They are good at handling minerals and teach the know-how of weapon creation, but they are forgetful and a little stupid.
Appearing species No. 6: Fairies
A species that has existed in Fa-Diel since ancient times. They are small creatures that live in the forest, but there are many individuals that have clear hostility towards humans, and in the Escade arc, they plotted to use Arwins to destroy humans.
Appearing species #7 Badger
A creature that lives in the moonlit town of Roa. It uses its own language called badger language, so you need to master it to communicate with it. You will need to learn it when selling Lumineux's lamp in the event "Spirit Light". Some also live in the mines.
Appearing race No. 8: Siren
A bird-woman with a beautiful singing voice and wings. The main characters are Lumineux and Elle. In the jewel thief arc, she appears in an event in the port town of Polpota. The Siren's singing voice is said to sink ships, and she is pursued as the culprit behind the sinking of the ship. Elle is one of the NPCs that can be recruited and is a character specialized in magic.
Appearing species No. 9: Centaurs
A race with a human upper body and a horse lower body. The main character is the bard Gilbert. He first appears in the event "Light of the Spirit" and forces Lumineux's lamp on him. He doesn't listen to people much and is a bit of a troublemaker. He is Lumineux's ex-boyfriend, but later falls in love with the siren Elle, the mermaid Flamesh, and the basilisk Kasinja, and is turned to stone by Kasinja because he is too persistent.
Appearing species No. 10: Mermaid
A beautiful mermaid with a human upper body and a fish lower body. The main character is Flamesh. Flamesh is best friends with Lumineux and Elle, but she has a strong personality and loves freedom. At a certain event, she watches over them to prevent them from going to Elle, but in fact, she shows a weakness as time passes. If you don't understand, you'll be stuck.
Appearing race ⑪ Dragon
A giant dragon that either protects or does not protect the order of the world. In the Dragon Killer arc, you are used by the extremist dragon, Dragon Emperor Tiamat, to exterminate the dragon. There is the Wind Megalord, who will give you experience points after the scenario ends, the Earth Jajara, who is based in the Castle of Bones, and the understanding Wood Vatis.
Appearing species No. 12 Walrus
A walrus who is the commander of the pirates. He leads the penguins on the pirate ship Baldo. How do you escape from the pirate ship Baldo? Talk to him and choose "No" to escape.
Appearing species ⑬ Penguin
A member of the pirate crew led by Burns. Many of them end their sentences with "yansu." They have unity and drive, but they're a bit lacking in thought.
Appearing species ⑭ Shaddoll
Residents of the abyss. Shadows of all things. Consciousness and knowledge are shared by all individuals. They have a cannibalistic personality.
Appearing species ⑮ Magical creatures
A creature created by magic. The main characters are Louie, who lives in the garbage dump, and Teepo, who lives in the town of Domina. Teepo, who is a crybaby and easily deceived, always seems to be sold junk by Nikita at a high price. A mass-produced version of Teepo is in the magical city of Geo, and will be involved in the scenario of the jewel thief arc.
Appearing race 16: The Mame Clan
A race with a bean-eater bird's nest on their head. They are popular with bourgeois ladies. They only say "pu", so they cannot communicate, but the birdman Ruvel seems to be able to understand what they are saying to some extent thanks to years of research. There is an elder with a bird on his head, and the elder seems to speak for what the bird is saying.
Appearing race No. 17 Bunyu
A mysterious creature that appears in the dungeon. If you touch it, it will warp you and take a shortcut to the dungeon.
【LoM The Teardrop Crystal】Summary of the Appearing Races
I've put together a list of the various races that appear in the Legend of Mana! There are other races that appear, but there are also many beings whose racial boundaries are ambiguous. However, pure humans hardly appear.
Even if they look like pure humans, it seems that they have some kind of blood mixed in them! I'm looking forward to seeing how this very fascinating and unique worldview will be expressed in the anime!
