The anime version of The Teardrop Crystal 1, which will begin airing in October 2022, is based on a story from the 1999 Legend of Mana game, and was announced as part of an effort to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Legend of Mana. It is based on the Jewel Thief arc, one of the three main scenarios in the Legend of Mana game. I would like to introduce the characters that will appear in the Jewel Thief arc and the characters that will probably appear in the anime!

Character No. 1: Ruri

Ruri

A young man from the gemstone-based race "Tamame," whose core is lapis lazuli. He is Princess Shinju's partner, and has a taciturn and rough personality. He cares for Princess Shinju, and can get heated when it comes to her. However, he shows a strong sense of camaraderie with her, his fellow tribesmen, and those he trusts. He is one of the de facto protagonists in the jewel thief arc, and the story progresses with him, Princess Shinju, the protagonist, and the jewel thief at the center. For some reason, when Princess Shinju stays at the protagonist's house, he says something scary like "I'll kill you if you lay a hand on me," but what will happen in the anime?

Character No. 2: Princess Shinju

Princess Shinju

A pearl demon with a white pearl as its core. Since she was born only recently, she is pure and innocent and naive. She calls the protagonist "Big Brother" (or "Big Sister" in the case of a female protagonist). She is a key person in the jewel thief arc, including Ruri, and the reason for her birth will also be explained in the main story. In the original work, she can be recruited during certain scenarios, but she has no combat ability. However, in the LoM system, she is not completely useless.

Character No. 3: Bud

Bud

A boy who dreams of becoming a great wizard. She was causing trouble in the town of Domina when the protagonist beat her up and she became his apprentice and stayed at his house. Her weapon is a frying pan that was a keepsake from her mother. After becoming his apprentice, she starts searching for the six wise men together with him.

Character No. 4: Corona

Corona

Budo's reliable older sister. She causes trouble in the town of Domina by accompanying Bud, and ends up staying at the protagonist's house. The broom she is holding is a keepsake from her father. When Cactus-kun mistakes it for trash and throws it away, she goes to the trash mountain to look for it.

Character No. 5: Duel

Duel

A caring onion swordsman. He has solid skills and is loved by his friends. He is a so-called tutorial character, and mainly explains the battles and system at the beginning of the story. He sometimes mistakenly calls the main character Chabo-kun, but there is nothing special about naming the main character Chabo.

Character No. 6: Cactus

Cactus

A cactus grown in Shiloh's room. Although he is shy and silent, he always looks forward to the adventure stories the protagonist tells him. If you talk to him after an event is over, Cactus will write a diary entry, but if you clear another event in the middle, you will not be able to complete it. In fact, he can walk around freely, and when Bud falls ill, he runs east and west. He also appears in TRIALS of MANA, and if you find Cactus hiding in various places, you can get various benefits depending on the number of Cacti you have.

Character No. 7 Rubens

Rubens

A gemmi with a ruby at its core. He manages the fire in the cliff city of Gato. He has an extreme distrust for humans and his own kind, and does not want to get involved with anyone. He becomes the first victim in a jewel theft case involving the protagonist.

Character No. 8: Inspector Boyd

Inspector Boyd

A rat beastman who keeps chasing the jewel thief. He has an honest and stubborn personality, but he also has an inflexible side. He was one of the fans who was fascinated by the brilliant and beautiful skills of the jewel thief Sandra, but after the jewel thief started killing Tamami and stealing the jewels, he continues to chase Sandra to find out the truth behind it.

Character No. 9: Sandra the Jewel Thief

Sandra

A mysterious thief who appears out of nowhere. She was a female thief who fascinated people with her elegant and beautiful techniques, but before long she became a serial killer who targeted Tamami and stole their jewels. However, her reason for killing Tamami was related to the existence of the Tamami race itself.

Character 10: Emerald

Emerald

A girl with a gem of a spirit, whose core is an emerald. She is studying magic under Nunuzak in the magical city of Geo. She has three older sisters, but all of them have become nukes and are essentially dead. At her request, she tries to collect the gems of her sisters, but... In the original work, she becomes a temporary companion and has a set status, but she is a completely guest character limited to a certain event and cannot participate in battles.

Character No. 11 Diana

Diana

A gemmi with a diamond at its core. She fell into despair for a certain reason, closed her heart, turned to stone, and is stored in an art warehouse in the magical city of Geo. She knows the jewel thief's purpose in targeting the gemmi, and also knows the story of how the gemmi race left their homeland and became dispersed. She is revived from stone by the protagonist and friends, but...

Character ⑫ Hotaruhime

Hotaruhime

A Tamami with a fluorite core. She is the only one who can shed the tears that Tamami lost in order to ensure the survival of their species. Because of this, she was elevated to the status of Tamaishihime and became a human sacrifice for the Tamami. She has been protected by a certain person and is receiving life support, but her core is in tatters because shedding tears is an action that takes away her own life.

Character ⑬ Lady Pearl

Lady Pearl

A Tamami with a black pearl as its core. A silent and intelligent knight of Jadestone Princess. Her appearance is very similar to Princess Shinju. Due to a certain incident, a personality emerges from Princess Shinju. In fact, Princess Shinju is a personality born from her after she was seriously injured, and is one of the central figures of the Tamami race. It is possible to make her your ally, and her performance is by far the best among the many characters. The scene of sticking to her and repeatedly using special moves is a common one in LoM.
