The anime "Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru," which began airing in the fall of 2018, is set in the Hakone Ekiden marathon. It's based on the novel of the same name by Shion Miura. It was previously adapted into a manga by Sorata Umino, totaling six volumes. Its popularity has also led to film, stage, and radio drama adaptations. A rundown apartment building called Takeo-so (commonly known as Aotake). Kakeru Kurahara, a first-year student in the Department of Sociology, lives in Room 103. Kakeru once declared that he "never grew tired of running," but he doesn't seem to have much interest in anything other than running, to the point that Kiyose Haiji (Heidi) calls him stupid for anything other than running.

Kakeru Kurahara (Kakeru) was so talented that he won the 5000m at the Inter-High School Championships during his high school days. However, despite being a promising athlete, his recommendation to a prestigious university was revoked after he punched his then-coach, and the team temporarily suspended its activities. Since then, he seems to have focused on running alone.

As he spends his days at Chikusei-so, Kurahara Kakeru gradually begins to trust Kiyose Haiji (Heidi) and realizes the joy of running together. However, he has a difficult personality and is quite contrary. Although he participates in practice and track meets, it wasn't until much later that Kakeru declared his serious intention to aim for the Hakone Ekiden.

Ever since punching his then-coach in high school, Kakeru Kurahara (Kakeru) has been running alone. He was the type of person who thought running for someone else was out of the question, but after meeting Kiyose Haiji (Heidi) and the other members of Chikusei-so, he changed and seemed to discover the meaning and joy of running as a "team."

 

The voice actor for Kakeru in the anime is Takeo Otsuka.

Takeo Otsuka voiced Kakeru Kurahara (Kakeru) in the anime "The Wind Rises." In 2018, he made his anime debut in the film "Poetry, Weaving, and Weaving."
