The second season of "I Stand on a Million Lives" will begin airing in July 2021! It tells the story of players who are suddenly transported to a world modeled after a virtual MMORPG. The second season will see an even larger cast of characters, with a richer and more complex story. In addition to the characters from the first season, we'll also be introducing players who will be making their full appearance in the second season!

Player 1: Iu Shindo, who joins from the first week's quest

Iu Shindo

A classmate of the protagonist, Yusuke Yotsuya, Iu Shindo is a beautiful, athletic, and top-class student who also works as a magazine model. She's a perfect character, kind to everyone and unforgiving of bullying. However, behind this is the suicide of someone she considered a sister. She was bullied for the simple reason of being ugly. Her father and brother, both former members of a motorcycle gang, also led to her being treated badly by teachers at school, but her friends saved her. This led her to place great importance on the strength of her friends.

Iu Shindo as a Player

As a member of the tennis club, she possesses high physical abilities. However, her initial job assignment of Magician (Wind) prevented her from making the most of her physical abilities. However, even at that point, she possessed the most outstanding sense of intuition among the players. After changing to Warrior (Sword) midway through the fourth week, she was able to defeat boss characters alone. However, she struggles to think through the guidelines of the quests she was given. She is the character who suffered the greatest disadvantage from being summoned as a player. Her job adjustments affected reality, leading to her failure to perform well in the tennis tournament. She also experienced a disparity between the worlds she lived in and the breakup of a male student she had a mutual crush on.

Player 2: Hakozaki Kosue - Joins from the second week of the quest

Hakozaki Kosue

A classmate of protagonist Yusuke Yotsuya and first-week player Iu Shindou. He is physically frail and, due to a chronic illness, is forced to take medication costing 50,000 yen per month. This has caused him constant trouble for those around him, giving him a strong will to never abandon the weak, and the mental strength to put this into action.

Hakozaki Kosue as a Player

His initial occupation was warrior (sword), but his extremely low physical abilities and extreme aversion to violence made him completely useless in combat. However, he is a keen observer of people. In the sixth week's quest, he contributes to the quest with his natural kindness, willingness to save the weak, and ability to think of ways to do so, acting as a stopper for Yusuke Yotsuya, who no longer hesitates to do anything dirty.

Player 3: Yusuke Yotsuya - Joins from the third week's quest

Yusuke Yotsuya

The protagonist of this work. A third-year junior high school student who moved from the countryside to Tokyo, he struggled to fit in and developed a dislike for socializing. Originally a lively and active boy, he now has no friends and leads a lonely school life as a member of the after-school club. As a result, he speaks politely and keeps a distance from players, including Iu and Benisue, in the real world. However, he speaks frankly with his friends in the countryside and treats people in the other world in the same way, which is likely why he tends to be well-liked by women in the other world.

Yotsuya Yusuke as a Player

He's an ultra-rationalist who pursues what's necessary in the shortest possible time, and will do anything to achieve his goals without hesitation. He focuses on what's necessary to complete a quest and on making the most of people who are more valuable than himself. He's not afraid to abandon his companions and act alone, even if it means going off the rails, if necessary. This makes him repulsive to his companions and makes it difficult for others to trust him. However, in addition to his rational thinking, he excels in drive, determination, and focus, making him an extremely reliable brain in completing quests, and he's actually relied upon by his companions.

Player 4: Yuka Tokidate - Joins from the 4th quest

Yuka Tokidate

Before the start of the 4th quest, Yuka Tokidate was nearly photographed nude by some female students in the high school girls' restroom. However, she was saved by Yusuke Yotsuya, who arrived at the direction of the game master and destroyed the other female students' smartphones. She was a completely normal otaku girl, and the fact that she almost had her nude photo taken was partly her own doing, as she had spoken ill of other female students during a live stream. Afterward, she made amends with the female students by making Yusuke the bad guy.

Yuka Tokidate as a Player

Her occupation is a magician (fire), and she's happy to finally become the magical girl she's always dreamed of becoming. However, magicians are essentially useless at the start, fulfilling no other role than as a human shield. While she doesn't particularly stand out as a fighting force or a brain, as a regular player, she serves as a lubricant in the relationships between players. During the fourth week's quest, she continues to walk despite escaping reality, and as a result, she completes the quest by chance.

Player 5: Keita Torii - Joins from the 5th quest

Keita Torii

Living with his mother and younger brother, he didn't even attend middle school properly. Due to debt, he and his younger brother were forced to carry out a murder plot for a loan shark. At the age of 5, he was present at the birth of his younger brother and gave birth to him himself, resulting in a poor character and upbringing. Thanks to the intervention of Yusuke Yotsuya, he was able to avoid arrest and be freed from debt, so he doesn't particularly resent the beating and is actually grateful. Because he didn't attend school, he is not very smart, but his honest personality makes him easily trusted by others.

Torii Keita as a Player

His starting job is Warrior (Spear), and thanks to his natural athletic ability and job bonuses, he is one of the most valuable combat players, alongside Shindo Iu. In addition to his combat prowess, he also possesses a foolish and honest personality, allowing him to get along with anyone. He is the polar opposite of Yusuke Yotsuya, who acts selfishly and has difficulty gaining the trust of others. However, during the fifth playthrough quest, he wins the trust of others with his easy-going nature, and thanks to Yusuke's quick thinking, he successfully infiltrates a drug cartel.

Player 6: Glenda Carter - Joins from the 6th week quest

Glenda Carter

An American woman traveling the world, Glenda Carter films independently as a hobby. She became aware of the other world through online information even before Yusuke Yotsuya's contact. Knowing that players existed all over the world, she began filming an independent film with Yusuke, Iu, and Benisue in order to connect with other players. As an American, she cannot speak Japanese, but is able to communicate without difficulty in the other world. Her father developed PTSD after returning from war, and she was not accepted as LGBT. This led to her wandering.

Glenda as a Player

Her starting job is Warrior (Axe). She's skilled in combat, and as a mature woman with ample life experience, she's also intelligent and has excellent judgment. Like Yusuke Yotsuya, she naturally becomes a leader in the party, earning Yusuke's respect. While she may use any means necessary to achieve her goals, like Yusuke, she's fundamentally a moralist and a very reliable character.

Player 7: Itsuki Futoshige - Joins from the 7th week quest

Itsuki Futoshige

A corporate slave who worked as a systems engineer at a black company. Driven to the brink of suicide and mentally exhausted, he attempted to jump off the roof, but was stopped by Yusuke Yotsuya, who arrived at the Game Master's instructions. The company itself went bankrupt after he went on a rampage and destroyed everything. Having worked for a black company, he has an extremely narrow-minded perspective, and is summoned with no hope of finding a new job.

Itsuki Futoshige as a Player

His initial job is Magician (Wind). Due to his notoriously useless initial job as a magician and his tendency to wait for instructions, which is a clear example of his corporate slave mentality, he is not very useful as a fighting force. However, when his allies are wiped out during a monster-hunting expedition, his strong sense of responsibility, typical of a corporate slave, allows him to survive and return to Yusuke and Glenda with information about their annihilation and the true identity of the enemy.

[I Stand on a Million Lives Season 2] Player Summary

We've introduced all the players appearing in "I Stand on a Million Lives"! By the time of the second season, only up to the sixth character will likely appear, and I think it will end there. The original manga has yet to feature anyone beyond the eighth character. The story is richer than the first season, so be sure to watch it together!
