The first season of "I Stand on a Million Lives" aired in October 2020, with the second season scheduled for July 2021. The story revolves around a character suddenly transported to another world and tasked with completing various quests in a virtual MMORPG-style world. This time, we'll be sharing spoilers about the quests completed in the first season of the anime, as well as subsequent quests that appeared in the original manga!

First Week Quest: Clear Condition: "Defeat Goblins"

Quest 1

The new player is Iu Shindou. The quest itself is simple, but the character is suddenly transported to another world, where, due to gameplay rules, if he dies, he will die instantly, and he's alone with no one else around. The player is forced to take on mentally demanding quests, including the initial job selection of Magician (Wind) (initial rank Magicians have almost no combat ability and poor basic athletic ability). The player, Iu Shindou, is particularly happy with her current life, and finds herself forced to take on a quest she cannot afford to fail, despite being extremely lonely. Despite this, Iu manages to complete the quest, and as a reward, she is granted the right to ask the Game Master one question.

Question for Week 1: "Why were you chosen?"

The answer to the question is, "I was asked by a certain acquaintance of yours." The identity of that certain acquaintance is still unknown. The core of the story remains a mystery.

Second Week Quest: Clear Condition: "Discover Two Settlements"

Quest 2

The new player is Hakozaki Kosue. The quest involves discovering two settlements. The new player, Hakozaki Kosue, is a warrior (sword), but due to her inherent physical weakness and lack of stamina, she is not a valuable player in combat. However, for Iu, this meant being freed from the pressure of knowing her death would be the end and the loneliness of being alone, which had a significant impact on her mental health. The quest itself was easy, and it didn't seem to present any particular challenges.

Second Week Question: "Who are you?"

The answer to the question was "People from the future." Why the time traveler chose them remains a mystery. Even as of week six, the mystery remains unclear. The mystery only deepens.

Week 3 Quest: Clear Condition: "Complete the Village Chief's Request"

Quest 3-1

The new player is Yusuke Yotsuya. His occupation is farmer. The quest involves completing the village chief's request. However, before completing the mayor's request, the game is attacked by a large monster called a "troll." Even if players die, they can revive after a certain time if someone else is still alive. However, if they die immediately after reviving, they cannot revive. Shindo, who was eaten by the troll, is effectively retired. Left behind, Tomosuke and Benisue are no match for the throne, even professionally, and they barely escape. They try to complete the quest, but the village chief asks them to defeat Thor.

Quest 3-2

Quest 3-2

Tomosuke, a rationalist, leaves Benisue, who is no longer a fighting force, in the village to hunt down weak enemies, hoping to change jobs after ranking up. However, a troll attacks the village and Benisue is eaten, leaving Tomosuke as the only remaining player. However, a log reveals that Benisue has let the villagers escape, avoiding the worst-case scenario of failing to complete the quest. Inspired by learning of Benisue's circumstances, Yusuke evades a troll's attacks and defeats some minor enemies along the way, eventually switching to the chef job. Iu and Benisue revive the troll by slicing its stomach open with a chef's knife. After slowly whittling its health down with zombie tactics, Iu uses wind magic to explode the troll's internal organs, completing the quest.

Question for Week 3: "What do we do at or after completing Week 10?"

In answer to this question, the three are shown a video. According to the time traveler, it's a video of what "happened" in "our world line," showing the three players, including the three, fighting dragons. This means they will fight dragons in the future, but they will later become enemies of a dragon master who is plotting to revive the dragons.

Week 4 Quest - Clearance Condition: "Explore 5% of the map. Deliver the package to Radodobo."

Quest 4

The new player is Yuka Tokitate, a magician (fire). Radodobo is located at the westernmost point of the current location, inaccessible without a horse. The party plans to level up and enter the martial arts tournament to obtain gold and a horse, but while leveling up, they are attacked by bandits. Because harming a human results in a penalty and loss of experience points, they are unable to intervene, and Iu is captured by the bandits. Yusuke abandoned Iu and prioritized clearing the stage, leading to a disagreement with Benisue and Yuka, who decided to go their separate ways. However, they were easily captured by bandits, and Yusuke was once again forced to fight alone.

Quest 4, Week 2

Quest 4-2

Yusuke participated in the martial arts tournament but was easily defeated. However, he used the location of the three captured men as cover to provide information on the bandits' hideout, ultimately leading to their rescue. The party finally acquires the horse and heads to Radodobo with Kahabel, the female knight of Coltnel, who helped them defeat the bandits. Along the way, they encounter a foreign army under attack by monsters. Since there are children of non-combatants among them, Benisue cannot ignore them. Unsure of the meaning of the quest's requirement to carry luggage, the party decides to help.

Quest 3 of the 4th Playthrough

Quest 4-3

The people they rescue are soldiers from the dictatorial Kingdom of Deok and those who had been held captive for being heretics. Soldiers from the Kingdom of Deok were planning to publicly execute heretics in Radodobo. The Kingdom of Deok, which continues to wage war and expand its territory, is an entity that Kahabel and his friends cannot ignore, and when they hear that the kingdom's soldiers will be carrying out a public execution in a city in another country, the situation becomes tense, but they decide to put down their weapons for the time being and head to Radodobo together. Along the way, they hear that each invading nation has its own reasons, and that these problems do not necessarily have a correct answer.

Week 4 Quest ④

Quest 4-4

The group must make their way through a cavern with hidden traps, but they are trapped by soldiers from the Kingdom of Deok, leaving them with no choice but to move forward. Along the way, Tomosuke falls into a trap and falls, and one of Kahabel's servants dies. Afterward, they face a boss battle, but the strongest character, Kahabel, is stabbed and falls into the water. Thanks to Iu's last-minute job change, the boss is defeated, and Tomosuke, who uses his nerve to escape the trap, rescues Kahabel.

Fourth Quest ⑤

Quest 4-5

After somehow escaping the cave, Tomosuke and his friends contact the Deok Kingdom soldiers who framed them, resulting in casualties, in order to exact revenge. However, a simple visit of thanks would cause trouble for the country of Kahabel, so they rescue the Alteros believers and then concoct a scenario in which they kill the believers (actually, they burn Deok Kingdom soldiers with their faces hidden) in revenge for setting them up, without the Deok Kingdom knowing about it. They then have the Deok Kingdom report this to their home country and then massacre the soldiers. Afterwards, they safely reach Radodobo and complete the quest to transport the cargo by retrieving the soldiers' heads.

4th Quest ⑥

Quest 4-6

After completing the quest, the group heads off to complete the map quest, but a heavy snowstorm makes it difficult to traverse the map. While some of the four of them drop out, it's Yuka who makes the final decision to complete the quest. Despite Yuka's refusal to give up despite her attempts to escape reality, she continues walking, eventually meeting the magician Fatina, who helps them complete the quest.

Question 4: "This world is... ultimately a virtual space, right?"

The answer to the question is that "it diverged 46 years ago," but "intelligent lifeforms identical to humanity were born," and "they are living a history similar to human history," making them on the same wavelength, creating a "different possible Earth." In other words, it's a different world from reality, and the players themselves are virtual. In other words, it's not a game. To Yusuke, this is the fact that he committed murder. After much deliberation, Yusuke finally comes to terms with the fact that worthless people should just die.
