The first series of the anime "I Stand on a Million Lives" began airing in April 2020, with the second series scheduled to begin in July 2021. The first series covered the first four quests, with the content getting more and more interesting with each episode. The fifth and sixth quests, which will likely be aired in the second series, are even more interesting and packed with content, so we'd like to take a look at the outline and content of weeks five and six!
Week 5 Quest: "Sacrifice Ziffon Bafo in Vaikdamania"
The quest takes place 15 years after the events of Week 4, on the disaster-stricken island of Ziffon. Ziffon Bafo are a type of livestock native to Ziffon, and Vaikdamania refers to the harvest festival. In other words, the quest for Week 5 is to successfully hold the island's harvest festival. However, the island was naturally in no condition to properly hold a harvest festival. Before anyone knew it, the island was under the control of orcs, who had settled and multiplied in numbers.
A conflict with the orcs, each fighting for their own survival
Orcs are monsters that attack humans, and many islanders have become their food. The islanders have been able to limit the damage caused to humans by submitting to the orcs and paying tribute to them. However, as the orcs have multiplied, it is clear that tributing tribute to them alone is no longer enough. Since the orcs are not taking the human situation into consideration, they have to confront the orcs. However, some humans are secretly colluding with the orcs, hoping to save themselves.
Player from Week 5: Keita Torii
After the end of Week 4, Yotsuya contacts this player in the real world at the instruction of the game master. His father has been arrested multiple times, and he lives with his mother and younger brother. He didn't even attend middle school properly, and when he first met Yotsuya, he was working as a hitman for a loan shark to pay off his debts. Although he and his younger brother were beaten by Yotsuya, they were freed from their debts when the loan shark was arrested, so he doesn't seem to have a bad impression of Yotsuya. He's a bit of a fool, but he has a cheerful, playful personality and is honest, so he can get along with anyone. He also has excellent physical abilities, and by the fifth week, he's active in combat alongside Iu Shindou.
Theme: Disasters
The theme for Week 5 is disasters, and in addition to eliminating the orcs that have taken up residence on the island, the game tackles issues like lava and volcanic bombs caused by volcanic eruptions, and the resulting earthquakes. Unlike bears or hornets in Japan, orcs are intelligent, swarm, and recognize humans as food. Furthermore, because the island nation has limited combatants, humans lack effective countermeasures. Additionally, quests include disasters such as earthquakes, eruptions, and tsunamis.
The Existence of a Secret "Mastermind"
And in this quest, there is a mastermind that players must defeat. It is clear that the players will eventually become enemies with the dragon, and the person who caused this turmoil is secretly working to revive the dragon. The motives behind these actions are gradually revealed. This person's combat abilities are extremely high, making it impossible to win against them in a direct battle.
Week 6 Quest: "Reduce the number of regular users of the Rainbow Stairs in the Kingdom of Goldia to less than 3%"
The quest takes place 17 years after Week 5, in the Kingdom of Goldia and Ihal Nemoa. The Rainbow Stairs is a drug distributed throughout the country. The quest aims to reduce its regular users. The Rainbow Stairs, distributed throughout the Kingdom of Goldia, originates in Ihal Nemoa. The story revolves around the conflict with the drug-dealing mafia, the vigilante groups that attack the mafia, and the secret activities and confrontations of the dragon masters who operate within the mafia and attempt to revive dragons.
Theme: The Drug War Between the United States and Mexico
The theme of the quest for Week 6 is "drugs." The theme is the ongoing drug war between the United States and Mexico, where drug cartels continue to fight each other and with each other, providing a source of funding for criminal organizations and undermining the nation. The central theme is how to eradicate drugs. To achieve this, players must identify drug manufacturing methods and shut down factories, take disciplinary action against drug cartel leaders who know how drugs are manufactured, and address social and legal issues to eradicate drugs, including rehabilitating drug addicts.
Players from Week 6: Glenda Carter
An American woman who travels the world and independently produces documentaries. After completing the Week 5 quest, the Game Master instructed her to "identify Yusuke Yotsuya," leading her to contact him. Glenda learned of the existence of the other world from online information and confirmed the existence of other players besides Yotsuya. Therefore, together with Yotsuya and the others, she posts independently produced videos online and keeps in touch with other players. Furthermore, due to her mature and experienced life experience and sharp mind, she serves as the brains of the party alongside Yotsuya, and Yotsuya relies on her. Her father, a veteran of the Iraq War, destroyed their family due to the effects of PTSD he sustained on the battlefield. He became estranged from Glenda after he was enraged when she came out as LGBT.
Confronting the Mastermind and Reuniting with Cantil
The Dragonmaster, who first appeared in the previous quest and is now the player's clear enemy, reappears in this quest, and his objectives are revealed. He operates as a drug cartel leader, tormenting the player with his overwhelming combat power and plotting to cause mass casualties in order to revive the dragons. Additionally, Cantil, who fought alongside the player in the previous quest, has become Fatina's apprentice and will once again join forces with the player to defeat the Dragonmaster.
