"Idaten Deities of the Peaceful Generation" is a remake of a work previously serialized as a webcomic by the author of "Interspecies Reviewers," which was adapted into an anime in 2020 and caused a stir everywhere. The illustrations are by Cool Kyoshinsha, the author of "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid," making this a remake with an unexpected collaboration. The innovative setting seen in Interspecies Reviewers is still alive and well, and the story is full of quirks. In this article, we'd like to explain the terms that appear in Idaten Deities of the Peaceful Generation!

Glossary Part 1: Idaten

Idaten

Idaten, including the protagonists Hayato, Isly, and Paula, were born from the thoughts of all living creatures in the world. Because they are composed of thoughts, they do not necessarily have to take on a human form, but since human thoughts are the strongest, they take on a human form. Possessing overwhelming strength and speed, they were created to prevent the extinction of humanity. 800 years ago, when demons attempted to destroy humanity, they sealed the demons away after a fierce battle. Because they are beings of thoughts, they do not die even if their bodies are injured, and they remain motionless even when humans plead for their help unless they are on the verge of extinction.

Glossary Part 2: Demons

Demons

Destructive creatures that appeared 800 years ago, they exterminate other living things and then destroy themselves, causing considerable trouble. Humanity had no way to counter them, so they nearly wiped out all life, but were sealed away in a battle with the Idaten, born from prayer. However, some demons still existed in a state of suspended animation. Dr. Ohbami, who knew of the existence of demons and Idaten, secretly recovered their cells and used them to increase the number of demons within the Zoburu Empire. During this time, demons that gained human intelligence by using human brains were born.

Glossary Part 3: Generation

Generation

The birth of an Idaten. The conditions for an Idaten to be born are a large amount of thought, a long period of time, and a desire for salvation. The resulting Idaten's appearance, gender, name, and personality are based on the individual who emanates the strongest thought when the conditions for its creation are met.

Glossary 4: Drawer

Drawer

Idaten generally emerge naturally, but other Idaten can sense the source of their energy and immediately draw it out by interfering. However, Idaten that are not drawn out will automatically be reborn within a few hundred years. A drawn Idaten often becomes the master of the person who drew it. Furthermore, drawing out an Idaten adds the individual's own thoughts to the incipient Idaten, skipping the years required for the thoughts to be gathered for its emergence. As a result, the personality of the person who draws it out influences it somewhat.

Glossary Part 5: Zoburu Empire

Zoburu Empire

A nation specialized in war of aggression, expanding the flames of war on a global scale. This nation has repeatedly invaded and plundered, with demons secretly operating behind the scenes. Demons gained intelligence by fusing with humans, gradually increasing their numbers. However, due to the low probability of fusing between demons and humans, they required a large number of human bodies. The reason for adopting the system of an aggressor nation was to efficiently gather human bodies, but because soldiers would destroy women in such cases, they are now being captured, trained, and used as breeding slaves.

Glossary Part 6: Idaten of the Peaceful Generation

Idaten of the Peaceful Generation

The Idaten were born after the conflict with the demons 800 years ago. Their motive is to save humanity from extinction. The four Idaten were born in the last few hundred years because the Zoburu Empire's war of aggression has left people desperately seeking salvation. However, the Idaten have no intention of stopping the war. Since humanity is unlikely to perish even if it continues its large-scale war, the Idaten of the Peaceful Generation are those who live their lives doing what they love without any particular desire to save others. Hayato seeks only strength, Isly seeks knowledge, and Paula lives her life chatting with birds.

Glossary #7: Hotaena

Hotaena

Known as the land of freedom, Hotaena is a competitive nation where the majority of the world's businesses are located. It is undoubtedly the world's largest country in terms of population and capital, and arguably the most peaceful place on earth. However, behind the scenes, the gap between rich and poor is stark, making it a difficult environment for those without wealth. A culture of anime and games has developed here, and the cultural structure is relatively similar to that of modern times. However, it was actually a nation created by Isly to gain knowledge about herself and other people, and various research is conducted at its private research facility. Prontea, the Idaten, also developed magic in the country, and it is believed that the influence of these two men was strongly felt in the formation of the country's culture.

Glossary #8: Demon King

Demon King

This is the title given to Professor Ohbami, who revived the demons. He possesses a mechanical body and likely possesses the ability to travel across networks, though even he himself does not know his true identity. He revives demons and increases their numbers by fusing them with humans, and he possesses knowledge of the Idaten. However, even he himself does not know why he was born or why he possesses this knowledge. In fact, he is not a descendant of demons or anything like that, but an Idaten, the embodiment of thoughts gathered within the demon's seal.

Glossary #9: Magic

Magic

This is a technique said to have once been used by Idaten. The means to use it have now been lost, but Islii has developed a theory, and Prontea is attempting to revive it by recreating it. Although the current magic, despite its many difficulties, is capable of many things, it is apparently not very practical, as physical attacks are faster and stronger.

Glossary 10: Religious Nation Salabael

Religious Nation Salabael

A nation where all residents have converted to a single religion and unified their ideology. While they use beautiful language, they use the name of God as a pretext to brainwash the people, raise funds, and tolerate no one who opposes them. The country is run by a cult leader using underhanded tactics, but the Idaten side, who have no interest in ethics or justice, sees this as an efficient way to ensure the survival of humanity. While their tactics are underhanded, they ultimately preserve the country and protect its people.
