Kumasa is undoubtedly a top Cham Jam fan and a well-known figure among fans. He's been a fan for longer than the main character, Eripyo. While generally gentle and kind, Kumasa sometimes speaks passionately about idols. Just how big of a Cham Jam fan is Kumasa? This time, instead of idols or Eripyo, we'll shine the spotlight on Kumasa!

Kumasa, a Leo fan since the beginning

Kumasa, a Leo fan

When you think of Kumasa, you think of Leo! When you think of Leo, you think of Kumasa! Kumasa is such a passionate Leo fan that he reigns supreme as the top Leo fan. He's also one of Cham Jam's longest-serving fans, having been a fan since the group's inception, even before the main character, Eripyo, became a Cham Jam fan. He's in his mid-30s. He has a gentle personality and the dignity of an otaku. He's highly respected and highly regarded among fans, and at Leo's birthday celebration, fans reserved the best seat for him.

Surprisingly wealthy? What's Kumasa's occupation?

Exhausted Kumasa

Kumasa never misses a single Cham Jam event or performance, and he also collects a steady stream of merchandise. It's interesting to wonder where he gets his money, but he's actually a part-time worker. Originally, he worked as a company employee, but the inflexible schedule and lack of flexibility meant it was interfering with his Cham Jam fan activities, so he quit his job and became a part-time worker. Still, the fact that he wears brand-name items suggests he must have previously worked for a prestigious company.

Kumasa was a Leo fan even before cham jam was formed

Kumasa gets scolded by Leo

Kumasa is well-known as a fan of Leo, who has been active since cham jam was formed, but his fandom dates back to before cham jam was formed. Leo was originally in another group, and was an unpopular member who performed at the very edge of the group. However, Kumasa was devoted to Leo from that time on, and when Leo started performing with cham jam, he became a cham jam fan.

It's not just Leo! Kumasa is a top fan who is considerate of her teammates and other idols!

Kumasa caring about Eripyo

Top fans are always considerate of those around them! Kumasa exudes this image by caring about Eripyo's health and other idols. When Eripyo couldn't attend a performance due to the flu, he dutifully waited in line with Maina to let her know she couldn't make it. When Maina was feeling down during camp because of her lack of popularity, he even volunteered to help her out.

Kumasa sometimes speaks passionately

Kumasa speaks passionately

Kumasa is usually gentle and truly "Kuma-san," but he takes pride in being an otaku and can sometimes give passionate speeches. While waiting in line for an Instax in the scorching summer sun, he shouted, "You can keep the time your idol spent just for you!?" He then continued to call out to fans who tried to get out of line with cool lines. Even Eripyo, who was so overwhelmed by the heat that she couldn't think straight, somehow found Kumasa "cool."

Kumasa's outfit is surprisingly stylish

Kumasa dressed in all brand-name clothing

Kumasa always wears his cap backwards and comes to Cham Jam performances in what could hardly be called fashionable (a total otaku look). However, since Leo was attending an event with a large group of young women, Kumasa and Eripyo decided to dress up. Eripyo was simply wearing a Cham Jam shirt underneath her tracksuit and a banged-up headband, while Kumasa was wearing head-to-toe Fendi with a Dolce & Gabbana belt. For some reason, Eripyo seemed a little put off by this.

Sometimes I argue with Eripyo about my favorite idols.

Kumasa's expression

As I've said many times before, Kumasa is usually a gentle person with a presence that acts as a mediator among otaku. However, when it comes to his favorite idols, it's a different story! In particular, Kumasa's favorite, "Leo," and Eripyo's favorite, "Maina," have slightly different colors—pink and salmon pink, respectively—which sometimes leads to physical fights (more like playful ones, though). Motoi was flustered when he saw the two fighting, but Sorane said it was "just a normal thing," so it seems to be a common occurrence.

Kumasa and Leo's Promise

Kumasa shares his feelings

Leo placed last in a popularity poll conducted by his previous group. Kumasa had been a fan of Leo's since then, and promised him that he would "put Leo in first place"... but the group eventually disbanded and there was no "next time." However, cham jam also held a popularity vote, and when Leo asked, "Can I still believe in you?" Kumasa manfully replied, "I can finally keep my promise," and successfully led Leo to first place and center position. Incidentally, on the final day he bought 100 CDs for Leo.

Kumasa is voiced by Tomoaki Maeno

Maeno is a popular voice actor who has played major characters in numerous works, but his most memorable role is probably Junichi Tachibana in "Amagami." More recently, he has also voiced White Blood Cell in "Cells at Work!" and Hokuto Hidaka in "Ensemble Stars!" He is also scheduled to play a major character in four anime series, including Oshibudou, scheduled to air from 2020 onwards.

Kumasa Conversing with Leo

So far, what did you think of Kumasa? He's middle-aged and overweight, and looks like an obvious otaku, but inside, he's a super handsome guy, as even otakus respect him. There are many scenes where his words, actions, and behavior are truly cool, so please pay attention to not only the idols and Eripyo, but also Kumasa himself!
