Unlike other Gundam series, "Gundam THE ORIGIN" features fewer mobile suit battles. There's plenty of footage of Casval's childhood!
When you hear the name "Char" in Gundam, you probably think of that helmet and those distinctive eyes, but the opening of this work extensively depicts Char's childhood, before he took on the name Char. This is a rare glimpse into Char's time as Casval, something that's rarely seen in other works. His sister also calls herself Artesia at this time, and we can see the close relationship between the two siblings.
The voice actor for Casval is Mayumi Tanaka
Char is a hugely popular character known for his deep voice, but it would be quite strange to hear him voice that voice from his childhood (lol). So, the voice actor for Casval is Mayumi Tanaka, best known for her roles as Krillin and Monkey D. Luffy. It's a bit strange that Luffy has the same voice as Char as a child. Incidentally, his sister, Artesia, is still voiced by Megumi Han, even after she takes on the name Sayla.
The Struggle for Power Between the Zabi and Rall Families
After the death of Casval and his family's father, Deikun, a fierce struggle for power began in Zeon between the Zabi and Rall families. Deikun's wife and children became key players in this battle. Both sides attempted to gain control of Deikun's family. In the end, Casval and his friends were taken under the protection of the Ral family...
Char (Casval) Was Strong Even as a Child
Naturally, as a child, he was no match for adults in terms of physical strength, but even when Kycilia of the Zabi family handcuffed him and threatened him, Casval emphatically declared, "I am the son of Zeon Zum Deikun!" He also showed his aggressive side even as a child, fighting enemies in a Guntank.

When you think of the Ral family, you think of this man! Ramba Ral. He's a highly capable soldier and quick to fight, but what makes him great is his kindness and coolness! After rescuing Artesia and her friends, Ramba Ral was asked to bring back a cat from her house, and he gladly agreed. His kindness even earned him a nice reward from Artesia (lol).
Ramba Ral and Hamon are the perfect pair!
Hamon is Ramba Ral's partner, and one we shouldn't forget. She's a sexy character, similar to Fujiko Mine in Lupin. (Her voice actress has actually been playing Fujiko Mine since 2011.) Ramba Ral relies on Hamon for various missions, and the two played a major role in Casval and his companions' escape to Earth. By the way, the scar on Ramba Ral in this image was caused by being caught by a cat at Artesia's request (lol).
The Zabi Family's Troublesome Relationship
After Deikun's death, the Zabi family was forced into devastation, effectively taking control of Zeon. However, the Zabi family was not a monolithic clan. Some plot, some try to stop them, some fight at the forefront as soldiers, and some are kindhearted...the Zabi family is filled with a diverse range of personalities, making the conflicts within it compelling.

Gundam THE ORIGIN begins with the time of Casval, so we can see Char's gradual breakdown as he burns with revenge. Casval, who initially appears to be a kind-hearted boy, is portrayed as a ruthless character who will not hesitate to kill his friends and comrades in order to achieve his goals, revealing Char's innermost feelings.

So far, I've only given a rough overview of the highlights, but the real highlight is the growth of Char and Sayla. The story of how they began to walk very different paths is the biggest highlight, so be sure to pay close attention.
