Fuuto Tantei will begin streaming and broadcasting in August 2022. It's the official sequel to Kamen Rider W, a popular Heisei Kamen Rider series that aired in 2009, and the first Kamen Rider series to be adapted into an anime. As a sequel to Kamen Rider W, this work has a well-established worldview and setting. As a result, there are many terms unique to the series, and knowing these terms will help you enjoy the series even more! This time, we'll introduce the terms and settings that appear in Kamen Rider W and Fuuto Tantei!

Glossary Part 1: Fuuto City

Fuuto City

The fictional city where the series is set. This coastal city, likely located near Tokyo, is always dotted with windmills of various sizes, and wind power generation appears to be widespread. Around the time of W, the Sonozaki family, a local notable, dominated Fuuto's underworld, leading to a deterioration in public safety by distributing Gaia Memories.

Glossary Part 2: Gaia Memory

Gaia Memory

A bio-sensitive device containing Earth's memories. It has a USB-like shape and is approximately 10 cm long. By inserting it into the human body, it installs a program that reproduces Earth's phenomena, transforming the body into a Dopant with superhuman abilities. To use a Gaia Memory, it must be connected to a connector somewhere on the body. Special procedures were required for the installation of the connector, and the Museum handled this process while it was still in operation. While it grants superhuman abilities, it is highly toxic to the mind, distorting emotions and mentality without a filter called a Driver.

Glossary Part 3: Dopant

Dopant

A being who has gained superhuman abilities through the Gaia Memory and has become a monster. In many cases, the toxicity of the Gaia Memory distorts their emotions and mentality, leading them to commit crimes. Dopant-related damage was unrelenting in Wind City. The organization that manufactured and distributed Gaia Memories was destroyed in the main story of W, and the number of cases was expected to decrease. However, the remaining Gaia Memories have become a premium item and are still in circulation, so the problem has not yet been eradicated.

Glossary Part 4: Museum

Museum

A secret organization that manufactured and distributed Gaia Memories in Wind City. The Sonozaki family, a local notable, was behind the organization, and its goals were to recover funds and uncover the secrets of Earth's memories. It disappeared after the Sonozaki family, which ran the organization, collapsed.

Glossary #5: Memory Driver

Driver

A device that controls the power of the Gaia Memory and acts as a filter to suppress its side effects. It's also known as a transformation belt. Created by Shroud, it's used by Kamen Rider W (aka Shotaro Hidari and Philip), as well as Kamen Rider Accel (aka Ryu Terui). Soukichi Narumi also once used it, and in Fuuto Detective, it's also used by Mantoyuki Samurai, the leader of the underground organization "Machi."

Glossary Part 6: Memory Break

Memory Break

When a Kamen Rider attack destroys or expels a Dopant's Gaia Memory, returning them to human form. The BioConnector also disappears. While there are side effects, it generally does not result in death.

Glossary Part 7: Earth's Bookshelf

Earth's Bookshelf

A space within the brain where all of Earth's memories appear in the form of a bookshelf. Philip can access this vast database and retrieve the information. However, due to its sheer size, the information can only be accessed by narrowing down the search by keyword, and information searches may be locked for some reason. Furthermore, the information exists only on Earth's surface; information from other worlds cannot be searched.

Glossary #8: Foundation X

Foundation X

A huge, shadowy organization that provided funding to the museum. It not only provided funding to the museum but also to other organizations, and in return, it accumulated research results. In W, an agent of the organization, Jun Kato, attempted to rebuild the museum but failed. The organization's name also appears in other series.

Glossary #9: Narumi Detective Agency

Narumi Detective Agency

This detective agency is located in Wind City. It was originally founded by Narumi Soukichi, father of Narumi Akiko, and operated alongside his partner Matsui. However, Soukichi perished on the very night Philip and Shotaro first met. Since then, Shotaro and Philip have run the agency, with Narumi Akiko, the director's daughter, taking over as director in W. The agency primarily handles Dopant-related cases, and was relied upon by the townspeople as the police lacked the means to combat them. Despite the twists and turns that police officer Ryu Terui has faced since arriving in Fuuto, from the latter half of W to Fuuto Detective, they have formed a close cooperative relationship, sharing information and solving cases.

Glossary #10: Fuuto Irregulars

Fuuto Irregulars

These residents of Fuuto are reliable informant friends of detective Shoutarou Hidari. Appearing in W are Watchaman, Santa-chan (referred to as the "Manager" in Fuuto Detective), and Queen & Elizabeth. In Fuuto Detective, Akira Aoyama, Frank Shirogane, and Lily Shirogane, who met during the Gaia Memory incident in W, join the team as new members.

Glossary 11: Hydope

Hydope

A dopant who continues to use Gaia Memory reaches a higher level of existence. Those who become Hydopes can maximize the power of the memory.

Glossary Part 12: Town

Town

This underground organization, operating behind the scenes of Fuuto after the demise of the Museum, featured in Fuuto Detective, is a mysterious entity operating behind the scenes of Fuuto. It travels between the underworld of Fuuto City created by the Lord Dopant and appears to aim to create an ideal world for those who have become Hi-Dopes, but the details remain shrouded in mystery. It has been revealed that the original organization, the human resources development company "Kai Operation," was part of the parent organization of Foundation X.
