Fuuto Tantei is the legitimate sequel to the 2009 special effects series "Kamen Rider W," which began serialization in Big Comic Spirits in 2017! This highly anticipated series will be streamed and broadcast as an anime in the summer of 2022! Here, we've gathered information about the characters other than the protagonists, Shotaro Hidari and Philip! We've also written a separate article about the two main characters, so please take a look!

Character #1: Ryu Terui/Kamen Rider Accel

Ryu Terui

An elite police officer assigned to the Fuuto Police Department. He's an incredibly elite young policeman, achieving the rank of superintendent. He established the Paranormal Crimes Division, primarily responsible for combating Dopants and other threats, and became its chief. Though cool and lone-wolf, he was originally a kind-hearted police officer. After his family was murdered by a Dopant, he pursued the culprit and sought revenge. In reality, he harbors a fiery passion. When questioned while in a bad mood, he utters the line, "Don't question me!"

Kamen Rider Accel

Possessing exceptional talent as a warrior, and with his talent and resistance to mental interference, he receives support from Shroud and becomes another Kamen Rider, "Kamen Rider Accel." While he demonstrates overwhelming strength from his first appearance, his hatred of Dopants can sometimes lead him to go too far, frequently clashing with Shotaro and his friends. However, they gradually come to respect each other and recognize each other as reliable allies.

Ryu Terui in Fuuto Tantei

After the main story of W, he married the heroine, Akiko Narumi, and continues to work as a detective and Kamen Rider Accel. As a result, he frequently visits the detective agency and teams up with them, making him a very reliable ally for Shotaro and his friends. While he still has the same cool personality and tendency to do reckless things, his personality has become more mellowed by his past and his marriage. In Fuuto Tantei, he develops an unusual feud with Gojo Ichiha/Scream Dopant, a resident of Ura-Futo. He still calls his wife Akiko "Director."

Character #2: Tokime

Tokime

The heroine of Fuuto Tantei. A bewitching beauty with long hair. She is nicknamed the "T-Junction Witch" for repeatedly committing thefts using the alternate dimension created by the Lord Dopant, which led to her involvement with the Narumi Detective Agency. Although suspected of murder, she is cleared of suspicion due to damage to the memory she possessed and partial memory loss. After the incident, she is placed on probation by Ryu Terui and takes refuge at the Narumi Detective Agency, where she becomes a staff member. It is suggested that she has ties to the underground Fuuto.

Character #3: Akiko Narumi

Akiko Narumi

The heroine of Kamen Rider W. She has a bright, innocent, and active personality, but she often comes across as more of a motherly figure, a mood maker, a mascot, or a straight man than a heroine. She is the daughter of Soukichi Narumi, the former director of the Narumi Detective Agency. In the first episode of the W series, she comes to the agency to close it down, and learns of the darkness lurking in Fuuto. She then becomes the new director of the Narumi Detective Agency, supporting Shotaro and Philip. Her active personality often leads her into dangerous situations, but she also uses her unique ideas to find clues to solving cases. She always keeps a pair of slippers for tsukkomi (comedy quips). Her catchphrase is "I wasn't listening!"

Akiko Narumi in Fuuto Tantei

She married Ryu Terui, and her real name is Akiko Terui, but she goes by Akiko Narumi due to the name of her agency. Her personality remains the same, and her position has remained almost unchanged. However, Tokime tends to take over the role of holding one of Shotaro and Philip's bodies when they transform.

Character #4: Mantoyuki Samurai

Mantoyuki Samurai

He is the leader of the organization "Machi," which operates out of Ura-Futo, the underworld of Wind City, and the main antagonist of the series. He is tall, handsome, and gentlemanly, earning the trust of his subordinates. However, he is also cold-hearted, ruthlessly discarding those who make mistakes or fail to meet his expectations. His goal is to build a utopia in Ura-Futo for the "Hydopes," who have sublimated the power of the Gaia Memory. He himself transforms into the Aurora Dopant using the Gaia Driver Rex.

Character #5: Mikio Hano

Mikio Hano

A detective working at Fuuto Police Station. He has known Shotaro since high school, and would pass on information to him in exchange for taking credit for his accomplishments. When Ryu Terui established the Organized Crime Division, he and his subordinate, Makura, became his subordinates. He's a playful, gullible, yet likable character, often seen as a comedic relief character, but he's actually an excellent detective and quite strong.

Character No. 6: Shun Makura

Makura

Hano's subordinate. He gives off a strong impression of being a naive and inexperienced police officer, and in the main story of W, he often picks on Shotaro. He's generally a good-natured character who gets teased, and often ends up visiting the detective agency. In Fuuto Detective, he appears to be growing as a considerate junior officer.

Character #7: Watchaman

Watchaman

A blogger who searches for beautiful women and gourmet food in the city and posts them on his blog. He is one of Shotaro's allies, the Fuuto Irregulars, and is a particularly relied-upon informant by Shotaro due to his wide range of activities. In the main story of W, he owns many cell phones, but in Fuuto Detective, he appears to have switched to a smartphone.

Character #8: Manager (Santa-chan)

Manager

A member of the Fuuto Irregulars, he is the manager of a pet shop in Fuuto City. He used to work part-time as a sign holder, wearing a Santa costume and sunglasses, which earned him the nickname "Santa-chan."

Character #8: Queen & Elizabeth

Clean Elizabeth

Members of the Fuuto Irregulars, a charismatic college student duo popular with high school girls. In W, they are high school girls who are knowledgeable about student affairs and provide information mainly on incidents involving students. They made their entertainment industry debut during W and continue their entertainment careers in Fuuto Detective.

Character #9: Aoyama Akira

Aoyama Akira

A middle school student who joined the Fuuto Irregulars in Fuuto Detective. In the W era, she was a sixth-grader and asked the detective agency to help her older sister, Yui. Despite claiming she couldn't do anything on her own, she showed courage by going alone to EXE. Just as the revived Philip said in the final episode, "Maybe you could become a member of the team," in Fuuto Detective, she became a member of the Irregulars. Despite claiming she couldn't do anything on her own, she learned to rely on others and became a cheerful, happy person. Her extensive network allows her to gather information from students.

Character #10: Frank Shirogane & Lily Shirogane

Lily Shirogane

A magician active in Futo City and his apprentice and granddaughter. Lily, an apprentice magician, wanted to perform a successful magic trick, so she tried using the Gaia Memory. At one point, her life was in danger due to the use of the Gaia Memory, but she was rescued by Shotaro and Ryu Terui. Frank Shirogane later retired from magic and opened a cafe, and Lily continued working as a magician, helping out there. In Futo Detective, the cafe is the meeting place for the Irregulars.

Character #11: Mick

Mick

The Sonozaki family's pet cat. He has a wild, capricious, and unlovable temperament, and doesn't bond with anyone outside of the Sonozaki family. He was formerly the museum's executioner. After the Sonozaki family's downfall, he was taken in by Shotaro at Philip's request. In Fuuto Tantei, he is technically the detective agency's pet cat, but he only returns when he feels like it. However, due to the influence of the Gaia Memory, he is highly intelligent and returns to the agency when he senses something unusual in the city.

[Futo Tantei] Character Summary

Here's a roundup of the characters appearing in Fuuto Tantei! I've written a separate article about the main characters, Hidari Shotaro and Philip, so please take a look! Fuuto Tantei is serialized in a young adult magazine, so it's a work that allows you to fully experience the flavor of W while doing things that aren't possible in Sunday morning anime, so I definitely recommend it to W fans. However, it's also perfectly enjoyable to start with Fuuto Tantei and then get into W! If you don't usually watch anything other than anime, I recommend taking this opportunity to watch Fuuto Tantei along with the anime, as you'll have a lot of fun!
