What is Lancer's true identity?

Cu Chulainn, the son of light in Ireland, is a knight of the Red Branch who is known as the "Ferocious Dog of the Clan." In order to win the princess he is in love with, he becomes an apprentice to Scáthach, the queen of the Land of Shadows. After that, he learns various magic and martial arts from her and is given the magic spear Gáe Bolg.
Unknown past

After leaving the Land of Shadows, he became famous throughout Ireland, battling many battlefields as a Red Branch knight under the King of Ulster. However, he killed his best friend Ferdia due to the machinations of Queen Maeve of Connaught. He also killed his son Conla, even though he didn't know of his existence. In his final moments, thanks to Medb's schemes, the geis were defeated one after the other, and while half of his body was paralyzed, he was stabbed by a Gáe Bolg that had been taken by the enemy, and he died. However, he washed his spilled innards with water, placed them back in his stomach, tied his body to a stone pillar, and did not fall until the very end.
A battle maniac!?

He has no wish for the Holy Grail, and all he wants is to "fight the strong with all his might." He has run through the battlefield and sacrificed many things in his life, and although he has regrets, he has no regrets.
Action in the story

In the UBW route, he appears as a helper for Shirou and Rin, whose servants were stolen under Kotomine's orders, and engages Archer, who has joined Caster's side. Lancer's fierce attack, freed from his constraints, overwhelms Archer, but he sees through Archer's true intentions and stops the fight. Afterwards, he accompanies Shirou and Saber to rescue the kidnapped Rin, and then goes to rescue her on his own, but rebels when Kotomine orders him to kill Rin.
Master Killing

Kotomine, who deemed him useless, ordered him to kill himself with the Command Spell, and he stabbed himself in the heart with Gae Bolg, suffering a fatal wound, but he did not die instantly, and Kotomine, who had used up all his Command Spells, was killed, and Shinji was driven away, freeing Rin. He set fire to the castle with runes and disappeared, taking Kotomine with him.
What is the appeal of Lancer?
A man who is good at his job!

There is a sense of security that he will do the job he is given perfectly. There is no need to worry about being betrayed unless something extraordinary happens. However, he is not as loyal as a robot, and has the determination to say no to things he doesn't like. On top of that, he prioritizes his master's orders. What a wonderful sense of professionalism. It's also cool to see him do his job reluctantly.
A knight!
Normally he has a friendly personality, but when it comes to battle, he is extremely strict and cold-hearted. He will kill without hesitation if they are his "enemy," even if they are family or best friends, and will never betray or betray his "master" no matter how much he dislikes them.
Just like an older brother!

He is free-spirited and has a bad mouth, but he is charming and caring, and has a straightforward personality. He values beliefs and righteousness, and wants to fight with all his might, so he is also very attractive as a warrior. Due to his achievements in the story, fans sometimes call him "big brother."
Servant Abilities
He's a minor hero in Japan, but if the setting was Europe, where he's more well-known, he would be on par with Hercules and King Arthur. If he's summoned to Ireland, his strength will surpass King Arthur's, and he'll get additional castle treasures.
The Power to Survive

A servant specialized in "surviving", surviving any situation that could kill him. According to himself and Tohsaka Rin, if he focuses on defense, he can hold out well enough even if he is up against Saber and Archer at the same time. He also fought Gilgamesh for more than half a day, and it is said that he was quite worn down.
Abundant Class Aptitude

Although he was summoned as a Lancer, due to his skill in Rune Magic and anecdotes about his ferocity in battle, he is actually suited to three classes: Lancer, Berserker, and Caster. It is said that he also possesses the skills of Tank and Wall Noble Phantasm, and the Blessing of Insomnia. He is the only one who has aptitude for classes other than Assassin and Extra Class.
High agility

His magic resistance is not that high, but it is extremely difficult to hit Lancer with magic due to his high speed. In other Fate series, Lancer, who boasts high agility among servants, chased Assassin and ran normally on the road. And he does it with an incredibly beautiful form, at a speed that can keep up with the track. He also shows off his specialty, the javelin throw, and we see him perform like an athlete.
Skills as a Servant
Continue Fighting
The ability to continue fighting even if slightly injured. It's not a matter of mindset, but as long as the injury isn't fatal, it's fine. It's more of an ability to "hardly get injured in the first place" than an ability to "keep going even when injured."
Rune

Cu Chulainn has mastered the original rune magic. This rune magic is very versatile and can be used for various purposes such as searching for enemies, erasing their presence, and setting fires. Because of this skill, Cu Chulainn is also suitable for the caster class.
Arrow Protection

A skill that makes it impossible for any projectiles caught in his field of vision to work. In Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works, he activates this skill during a battle with Archer, and his eyes turn from their usual red to a slightly golden color.
Lancer's Noble Phantasm
Piercing Spear of Death Thorns (Gáe Bolg)

The curse of reversal of causality creates the result of "the spear hitting the heart" and then creates the cause of "firing the spear". In other words, it allows for a sure-fire hit. Since it pierces the heart, which is the weakest point of living things, it is possible to bring the opponent to certain death even if they are able to withstand the "Sword of Promised Victory". And yet, it consumes little magical power, and in a one-on-one battle, it does not require magical power to be replenished even after six consecutive battles (fighting all Servants other than the user), making it extremely efficient in PvP.
Piercing Spear of Death (Gáe Bolg)

This is a Noble Phantasm that projects Gáe Bolg towards the enemy, causing a huge explosion and sweeping away the entire army. Since it is an attack method with a very wide range, it is an effective Noble Phantasm in group battles. It seems that the causal reversal effect of piercing the heart is gone, but it is a powerful technique that physically tracks the opponent and hits them. Furthermore, when thrown, Gae Bolg returns to its owner in a stylish line.
Lancer is unlucky!?
Unlucky Master
Source: Tokyo Ghoul © Ishida Sui / Shueisha, Tokyo Ghoul:re Production Committee
The original master was Bazett, but Kotomine ambushes her and steals her command spell. The command spell gives her the approval for her master's switch and commands her to "fight everyone, but don't defeat them. Make sure you survive the first encounter." Because of this, he was always forced to go easy on others, which was nothing but humiliation for him, as he had joined the Holy Grail War in order to fight. The fight against Archer is said to be the first and last time he was able to fight at full strength.
The Noble Phantasm is not a sure kill

Even when the Noble Phantasm is a sure hit but fails to kill any opponent, one cannot help but feel the low level of luck. In the Saber line, various factors such as Saber's intuition skill and high luck probably came together to cause the miss by chance. Also, in the battle against Archer, Archer's unexpected shield ability blocked the attack. However, he inflicted a deep wound.
The coolness of his death
Fate
Saber and Shirou Emiya are in a desperate situation facing Gilgamesh, the strongest servant. He appears dashingly and lets Saber escape, showing his tsundere side while saying, "Don't get the wrong idea." A death that can be said to be the manliest of men.
Falling in UBW

To briefly explain the plot, he helps Rin because he likes her even though he is not her master, and even though he is ordered to commit suicide by the Command Spell, he kills Kotomine Kirei and sets fire to a building. There is a coolness that cannot be explained in words, so if you have not seen it, I recommend you watch the TV anime version of UBW.
Lancer's famous battle scene
VS Archer

Archer and Lancer's showdown of contradictions (Gáe Bolg vs. L'Aias). Also, because this is Lancer's first serious battle, the force and momentum of this battle is incredible, making it one of the most intense battles in the Fate series. It's incredible! It's a fight to the death. By the way, they are at odds with each other. They are a long-time sworn enemy who just can't get along.
VS Saber

During the fierce sword fight with Saber, Lancer uses his Noble Phantasm for the first time in the series. This battle scene must have captured the hearts of fans in an instant! Depending on the route, they later become allies, but due to these events, Shirou has a negative impression of him.
Summary
He has a manly personality, is caring, and is treated poorly in battle, but he is a famous Heroic Spirit, so if fans were to mention the Servant they would like to summon, I think this person would be the first to come up as a candidate. I'm sure there are many people who were fascinated by his coolness in the work!
