Conan and Kogoro happen to be at the scene of a murder every time. The police inspector who always comes to the scene is Inspector Megure, also known as Megure Juzo. He wears a very inspector-like outfit that reminds one of Lupin's Zenigata, and has a beard that looks like seasoned seaweed. But Inspector Megure has a lot more to offer than just his appearance! Here are 10 characteristics of Inspector Megure!

Characteristic 1: Surprisingly young? Megure Juzo's Age

Inspector Megure is quite a well-built man, but his age is...not even officially announced! However, since he is a senior of 38-year-old Kogoro and a contemporary of 41-year-old Inspector Nakamori, we can assume that he is a little over 40 years old. That physique at just 40 years old... I think he should lose a bit more weight, considering his health.

Characteristic 2: Megure Juzo's trademark "hat"

Does anyone know what kind of hairstyle Inspector Megure has? Most people probably don't know what his hairstyle is, because he always wears a hat. Why does he stubbornly refuse to take off his hat? The answer lies in an old scar hidden under the hat. Inspector Megure sustained a scar while protecting the girl who would later become his wife during a past incident, and he hides it because he doesn't want people to see it and ask him about how they met.

Characteristic 3: Megure Juzo's wife is incredibly beautiful!

While watching the anime, Inspector Megure doesn't seem to have any relationships with women, as I mentioned earlier, he actually has a super beautiful wife named "Midori". She's a little younger, probably around 37-38 years old, and has a strong personality. In terms of age and personality, she seems to be a little similar to Ran's mother, Hime.

Midori was a typical delinquent in her high school days

Facing a hit-and-run criminal who was targeting delinquent high school girls, Midori decides to become a decoy to avenge her friend. The police try to stop them, but Midori, who was a delinquent at the time, has a grudge against the police and refuses. The police had no choice but to give up and Inspector Megure was assigned as her bodyguard, and the incident led to the two getting married. By the way, she looked like a delinquent Ran, but she was beautiful even back then.

Characteristic #4: She's a completely different person at home? Megure Juzou and Midori are in love

Although Inspector Megure is generally kind, he sometimes yells at his subordinates and Kogoro. At home, you might think he's a strict husband, but when he's alone with Midori, he lives a lovey-dovey life like a completely different person. When he was hospitalized due to an injury, he asked her loudly to peel an apple for him, and Midori said, "No matter how old you are, you're always a spoiled brat," which suggests that he has always been a spoiled brat.

In fact, Ai Orikasa, who is the voice actress for Midori, was also active as Mitsuhiko's voice actress in the TV anime and movie version when Ikue Otani, who is the voice actress for Mitsuhiko, was on hiatus. Characteristic 5: Megure Juzo is in almost every movie

Inspector Megure is an important character who is indispensable to Detective Conan, and has appeared in almost every movie. However, "almost" does not mean all of them. In fact, out of all the films released so far, "Kara Kurenai no Love Letter" is the only one in which he does not appear. This may leave die-hard fans who looked forward to Inspector Megure's appearance in every film feeling a little unsatisfied.

Characteristic No. 6: The relationship between Megure Juzo and Mouri Kogoro

Inspector Megure and detective Mouri Kogoro. The relationship between the two has been going on for a long time, starting when Kogoro was a detective and was his boss and subordinate. It seems that Kogoro has always been a big headache for him, and he complains that most cases have gone unsolved because of Kogoro.

There is a collaboration work with Lupin III in the Detective Conan movie, and in it, Inspector Megure reveals that he was an old acquaintance of Inspector Zenigata of ICPO. I couldn't imagine that these two would have known each other over 20 years ago, so if you haven't watched it yet, please check it out.

Characteristic #7: Is he actually a loser? Megure Juzo can't solve mysteries

Inspector Megure is a police inspector with many subordinates. Of course, his deductive skills are impressive... but in reality, they're not that impressive. The cases Conan encounters are all difficult, and he often makes mistakes and comes close to making false arrests... it's scary to think how many innocent people would have been arrested if it weren't for Conan.

He has a strong sense of justice and will even risk his life to protect the victim

Still, the reason Inspector Megure is so popular is his strong sense of justice! His determination has especially grown since the incident in the past when Midori was seriously injured, and there is a scene where he yells at Detective Sato for casually talking about a sting operation. Also, when Sonoko was about to be attacked with a metal bat, he shielded her and took the bat in the head, resulting in him being hospitalized.

Characteristic #8: Megure Juzo has absolute trust in Kudo Shinichi

Inspector Megure has absolute trust in Shinichi, who has been involved in various cases as a high school detective, and even asks for his advice. He still has the same trust in Shinichi when he arrives at the scene of the crime and temporarily returns to normal with an antidote. By the way, he calls Kogoro a jinx, and the difference in how the two are treated is considerable.

Conan is a first-grade elementary school student, so at crime scenes, police officers may not pay him any attention or treat him as a nuisance, but Inspector Megure listens to Conan's opinions and often uses them as hints to advance his investigation. However, unlike Detective Sato, he doesn't receive any special treatment, and just thinks of him as "smart for a first grader."

Characteristic 9: Megure Juzo is modeled after a character in a detective novel

There are many characters in Detective Conan who are modeled after people, and Inspector Megure is also modeled after someone. The model character's name is "Jules François Amédée Maigret." He is a police officer who appears in detective novels and is known as Inspector Maigret. Incidentally, before he became an inspector, he was active as Inspector Maigret, just like Inspector Megure.

Characteristic #10: The voice actor for Megure Juzo is that person!

Inspector Megure's unique voice. Once you hear it, you'll never be able to imagine anything else. The voice actor for Inspector Megure is Chafurin. Even if you're not familiar with voice actors, I'm sure many of you know him. Chafurin is also the one who plays Namihei in Sazae-san. With that in mind, the scene where Inspector Megure yells at him makes you think of Sunday evenings.

As a police inspector, Megure Juzo is strict with his subordinates and has a stronger sense of justice than most. However, when he is alone with his wife, he shows an unexpected side to him, such as being affectionate. Please keep an eye out to see what other gaps will emerge in the future!
