It's common knowledge among Detective Conan viewers that Conan's true identity is the high school detective Kudo Shinichi. In every movie, the circumstances surrounding his transformation into small size are always explained at the beginning. Conan reverts to his Kudo Shinichi form maybe once a year, but this time we'll be introducing the characteristics of Kudo Shinichi rather than Conan.

Characteristic #1: Shinichi becomes so obsessed with the case that he gets beaten up and forced to drink APTX

The incident that led Shinichi to become Conan is the familiar scene from the movie. He discovered a vodka transaction and was so engrossed in filming it that Gin came up behind him and hit him with a stick, knocking him unconscious. He then shoved APTX in his mouth and woke up transformed into Conan. Every time I see that scene, I wonder how they got him to take the drug...

Characteristic #2: Shinichi is a big hit at school

Although Shinichi isn't portrayed as particularly handsome in the anime, in reality, he receives a ton of love letters and is popular with all walks of life, regardless of whether they're seniors, juniors, or classmates. Even after he briefly absents himself from school as Conan, his juniors erupt in cheers when he briefly reappears as Kudo Shinichi.

Characteristic #3: Shinichi's cool and pretentious personality

Shinichi may look like a model, but he has a rather quirky personality. Although he has a hot-headed personality, he generally gives off a cool demeanor, and when an incident gets involved, he makes people squeal with his cheesy lines and makes Sonoko cringe.

Characteristic #4: Shinichi's Soccer Skills Are on a High School Student Level

Conan is often seen juggling the ball while thinking, but that's because he played soccer when he was Shinichi Kudo. If he had continued playing soccer, it wouldn't have been surprising if he had been a talented player who could have played at the National University of Tokyo. However, he said his goal was to build up his physical strength in preparation for his career as a detective, and he never focused solely on soccer.

Characteristic #5: Shinichi and Ran Have Been Friends Since Preschool

Shinichi met Ran in preschool. From the outside, it seems like they're in love, but Ran is insensitive and Shinichi isn't honest, so things aren't progressing very quickly. However, his feelings seem to be devoted, and in middle school he was confessed to by the student council president, who was famous for being beautiful, but he turned her down because he had feelings for Ran.

Characteristic #6: Shinichi is actually childhood friends with Sonoko.

When talking about Shinichi, we tend to focus on his relationship with Ran, but he's also been childhood friends with Sonoko since kindergarten. Sonoko admits that Shinichi has a good face, but she often seems put off by his cheesy lines. She's doing her best to help Shinichi and Ran's relationship progress.

Characteristic #7: Does she have the same face as Shinichi? Relationship with Kaito Kid

Shinichi and Kaito look so similar that they both claim to be. There seems to be a reason why Kaito Kid looks so similar even without a disguise. Considering the feud that dates back to their fathers' generation, it's even speculated that the two are related by blood.

Characteristic #8: Shinichi flies away whenever he hears about a crime

As anyone watching Conan knows, Shinichi is so obsessed with crimes that he flies away whenever he hears the word "crime." When Shinichi finally decides to confess his feelings to Ran at a restaurant, he stumbles upon a murder. At Ran's suggestion, he heads to the crime scene. Afterward, he returns to his child's body, leaving Ran behind...

Characteristic #9: Shinichi absolutely loves Sherlock Holmes!

I'm not sure if it's because he's been dubbed the "Heisei Sherlock Holmes," but Shinichi absolutely loves Sherlock Holmes. He's always bringing up Sherlock Holmes whenever something happens. Such was his geekiness that he associated his birthday with "the day Holmes fell over Reichenbach Falls with Professor Moriarty."

Characteristic #10: Shinichi's Voice is Essentially the Only Appearance on the Phone

Conan cannot simply return to his original form with an antidote, and Shinichi himself rarely appears in the anime. Instead, he regularly communicates with Ran via email and phone, and when they call, he uses a bowtie-style voice changer to speak in Shinichi's voice.

He's cool, pretentious, and handsome. Although we rarely see scenes featuring Shinichi, he often appears in the specials and movies. Will he ever return to his original form and live a normal life? However, if he does return to his original form, it is highly likely that Detective Conan will end, which leaves fans with mixed feelings.
