Conan's true identity is the high school detective Kudo Shinichi. After being hit in the head from behind by Gin of the Black Organization and forced to drink APTX 4869, he was transformed into an elementary school student. Because of this, he often blurts out difficult words in his daily life...and each time, he tries to brush them off by saying, "Big Bro Shinichi..."

Perhaps it's the protagonist's fate... Conan is extremely popular both as "Edogawa Conan" and "Kudo Shinichi." In high school, he was with Ran, and in elementary school, he was with Ayumi, the idol of the Detective Boys, and Haibara... Conan is simply popular. We don't know if it's his intelligence or his strong sense of justice that makes him so attractive, but there seems to be something about him that draws women to him.

One reason Ran and Ayumi have a crush on Conan (Shinichi) is because they've spent so much time together, but some girls fall for him instantly. In the Traveling Theater Troupe Murder Case, a new transfer student, Ito Megumi, approaches Ayumi because she "looks like her brother when he was a child," causing her to become anxious. (Incidentally, Ayumi was also a fan of his brother Tamanosuke at the time.)

Even though he may be physically a child, he's still a high school student inside. If he were to lay a hand on an elementary school girl, it could lead to police involvement. One of Conan's favorite tricks to solve cases smoothly is to act as a messenger, saying things like, "Kogoro's uncle told me to prepare XX." When Conan hears this, even first-graders like forensic teams will investigate as instructed, without even asking for confirmation. Among them are forensic scientists who readily answer Conan's questions when he enters a crime scene. It's as if Conan's position is on the same level as a police officer.

Conan has solved many cases with his accurate advice. Because of this, as the story progresses, some capable people begin to view Conan as special. Sera clearly views Conan as special, and Detective Sato also treats Conan as special, although he is unaware of his true identity.

Conan's voice actress is Minami Takayama, who is also the main vocalist for the music duo TWO-MIX. When she appeared in Detective Conan as "Takayama Minami," she was a very popular singer and a talented singer, but when she sang as "Conan" and "Takayama Minami's stand-in," she was extremely tone-deaf. Her singing was so bad that the audience booed, saying she was "really tone-deaf."

What's more, the power of anesthesia is so strong that it can instantly wipe out the consciousness of an adult. Overuse of anesthesia could be life-threatening, but Conan doesn't hesitate to inject it into Kogoro's neck.

Kogoro is usually nearby during crime scenes, but on rare occasions, he's not present. In those cases, he has to find a replacement target (someone to shoot the tranquilizer gun at). Ran's best friend, Sonoko, fits the image of a "playboy who doesn't seem suspicious even when he solves a case while the victim is unconscious." Conan mercilessly shoots her with a tranquilizer gun, even though she is Ran's best friend.
