The Death Office is not a city hall but a "Death Office" where people who have died for various reasons visit. People from all walks of life, including those who committed suicide, were murdered, died of illness, died in an accident, died of old age, and were stillborn, visit the Death Office and go through the procedures for their own death after death. Various stories of death are told, but the employees who work at the Death Office were also dead people once, and they all died for the same reason. I would like to introduce the employees of the Death Office, who are the main characters in this work.

All the employees of the Death Office are on death row! If you are sentenced to death, you can take the employment exam!

Everyone's a murderer

All employees of the Death Office have the character "shi" in their name, which is replaced with katakana. All employees of the Death Office are those who have been sentenced to death and executed, and those who have been sentenced to death are forced to take a recruitment exam by ordinance. If they refuse, they will be sent to the "path to the underworld" and will wander in the darkness for eternity. Those who have been executed and executed on false charges can attain nirvana, but it seems possible to refuse this.

Shiyakusyo Employee - General Information Shimura / Ichimura Masamichi

Shimura

Shimura is the protagonist of this work, a staff member who wears glasses and always has a fake smile on his face. His job title is General Information, and he is responsible for a variety of tasks, from guiding customers who come to the Death Office to training new employees. He has a polite and calm personality, and is a polite but rude person who always uses polite language, and does not change his expression unless something extraordinary happens. He sometimes takes a sarcastic attitude towards rebellious customers. His motto is "The customer is a Buddha."

The reason why Ichimura Masamichi was executed

Shimura was arrested as the murderer of his daughter, but it was actually a false accusation. He was exhausted by the torturous interrogation by the police at the time and admitted his guilt, which led to his execution. If he was executed on a false accusation, he would be able to attain nirvana, but Shimura chose to refuse this and instead is investigating the real murderer of his daughter, his missing wife, and the movements of the religious group "Kago no Kai" that is involved in them.

Death Office Employee, Suicide Division Nishikawa / Nishikawa Miwako

Nishikawa

Nishikawa is set to be the heroine of this work, but so far she has not done anything heroine-like. She is a beautiful woman with short hair and thick lips, and although she has a slightly strong personality and a sharp tongue, she is basically a gentle and caring woman. She was apparently a hairdresser in her lifetime, and the reason she was executed was because she repeatedly committed bizarre murders, killing three of her affair partners and slitting their mouths with scissors, but the details have not yet been revealed.

Ishima, Death Office Employee, Homicide Division / Tokuji Ishima

Ishima

Ishima is a tough-looking old man with a shaved head, but he is a kind-hearted man who is quick to cry and easy to empathize with. He is often heartbroken when children die, and in some ways, he is the most decent old man in the Death Office. In life, he was a carpenter and lived with his niece, Michi. He thought of Michi as his own child, but one day he witnessed Michi being raped by two boys, and he killed the two boys and buried them in the mountains. Although the body was later found, Ishimata concealed the fact that he had raped Michi out of consideration for her, and so he was sentenced to death.

Death Office Employee, Lifestyle Accidents Division, Hayashi/Haruya Hayashi

Hayashi

Hayashi is a young man with long hair and a modern look. While most of the employees wear suits, Hayashi is the only one who wears casual clothes and has a loose personality. Although he is a friendly and good-natured young man, Hayashi is also a death row inmate. He is troubled when his father reveals that his real father was his grandfather, who was an actor, but with the support of his older sister, he grows up to be a young man with a strong sense of justice. However, perhaps due to this experience, she also had an extreme side, throwing her childhood friend out of the second-floor window of the school to help the bullied friend. Later, she married her childhood friend and had a daughter, but the child was with her lover, and she was sentenced to death for killing her lover, wife, and child in a rage.

Shiragami, Death Office Employee, Illness and Death Department/Shiragami Shizuka

Shiragami

Shiragami is a fair-skinned beauty with a quiet and melancholic expression. She is not the type to assert herself, but has a strong self-denial personality, and is a gloomy woman who has a habit of apologizing immediately. He was born in a mountain village and was treated as the child of a god. Eventually, he married a childhood friend from the village, but after hearing his mother say "child of a murderer," he began to suffer from strange auditory hallucinations. In fact, Shiragami's father died due to Shiragami's own mischief, and his grandfather had imprinted it on him so that he would not remember it. However, when he remembered it, he became confused, killed his grandmother and mother, and was executed.

Death Office Employee, Man-Made Disaster Death Division, Iwashimizu/Iwashimizu Naoki

Iwashimizu

Iwashimizu is a young man with a plain face. He has no initiative and is a typical person who waits for instructions. His father was originally overly involved, managing his entire daily schedule, so he is unable to make any decisions without his father's instructions. When his father is diagnosed with cancer and he is told to live freely, he is powerless to do anything. On top of that, a fire at his family's house leaves him stranded in an internet cafe, and his naivety makes him unsure of how to live his life. Driven to the brink, Iwashi Mizu sets fire to the internet cafe in the hopes of eliminating it, resulting in 11 casualties and the death sentence.

Shiyakusyo Employee, Homicide Division, Hashimoto/Hatamoto

Hashimoto

Hashimoto is a new recruit who has been assigned to the Shiyakusyo. He has long hair that covers his face, and is a quiet character who is known as a shadowy character. He is the type who keeps his frustrations to himself, but when he loses his temper, you never know what he will do, and he even attacked Fushimi, who was emotionally abusing him, with a cutter. However, that doesn't mean he can't communicate with him. When a mother with a reclusive son came to the Death Office, he became enraged by her argument, so it is highly likely that he himself was a recluse and was driven into a corner by his family, but there are no detailed episodes yet.

Death Office Employee, Traffic Accident Death Division Matsushige/Matsushige Kenzo

Matsushige

Matsushige is a middle-aged employee with a strong dialect. He is apparently a former follower of the religious group "Protection Society," which has a deep connection with Shimura. However, this is just what Shimura says, and Shimura himself denies it. It seems that he has some kind of connection with Shimura.
