CLANNAD is a hugely popular romance adventure game that was released by Visual Arts/Key as a PC game in 2004 and has been ported to various platforms, including the PS2. The game was adapted into an anime in 2007, and the second season, the After Story, was also made into an anime the following year in 2008. It is still hugely popular 15 years after the game was released and over 10 years after the anime. It became a hot topic due to its heartwarming stories and touching stories that moved viewers to tears. This time, instead of ranking the scenes, I will introduce some of the scenes that moved me personally. The latter half of the list is a joke section, so please bear with me.
CLANNAD Contents Introduction

The protagonist, Okazaki Tomoya, had given up sports due to an injury and was living as a delinquent, but one day he met Furukawa Nagisa, who was standing alone on the slope leading to school. This encounter would greatly add color to Okazaki Tomoya's otherwise gray life. The school life he spends with Nagisa is completely different from what it used to be, and the two of them overcome various difficulties to get closer and grow together in order to revive the drama club, which is Nagisa's wish.
Introduction to the contents of CLANNAD-AFTER STORY-
Source: CLANNAD
This is a story about Okazaki Tomoya and Furukawa Nagisa up until their graduation and after. Nagisa graduated a year late due to illness, and Okazaki works as an electrician where an acquaintance of his works. The two of them started living together and thought that their happy days would continue forever. However, a very sad fate awaited them.
Huko had fun (Season 1 Episode 9)
Source: CLANNAD
Okazaki and Nagisa have been working hard together with Fuuko to make her wish come true. Up until that point, Fuko had been extremely rude to Okazaki, but in this scene she finally expresses her sincere gratitude to him and tells him how much fun she's had every day. The Fuko scenario lasts for about four episodes, and taking into account the events leading up to it, this is truly one of the most memorable scenes, so please watch it in its entirety. You'll definitely be moved to tears.
Happy Birthday Kotomi (Season 1 Episode 14)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya remembers Kotomi, the Kotomi scenario is resolved, and in the end, the thing Kotomi wanted most is returned. When her parents couldn't attend Kotomi's birthday party as a child because of work, her father burned his work thesis out of sadness. However, the thesis wasn't a thesis at all, but a catalogue of a teddy bear that Kotomi wanted. Her parents were thinking about Kotomi, and right up until the moment they died, all they could think about was delivering a teddy bear to Kotomi. It was the moment when it finally arrived in Kotomi's hands after 10 years...
Freedom from the Fujibayashi sisters' conflict (Season 1 Episode 18)
Seeing Tomoya protecting Nagisa, Tomoya realizes that he really does love Nagisa. Or rather, the Fujibayashi sisters, who knew but pretended not to notice, saw the reality that they could no longer look away from. Both sisters love Okazaki, and the older sister has been suppressing her feelings for a long time in an attempt to get her younger sister Ryo and Tomoya together. Even though she knew that her older sister also liked Okazaki, the younger sister relied on her kind older sister and let herself go with the flow. It was a memorable scene where the conflicts between the two of them were overflowing with tears. The overdubbing playing in the background is also wonderful.
Make Your Dreams Come True Nagisa (Season 1 Episode 22)
Just before Nagisa was finally able to perform the play she had always dreamed of, she found out that her father had originally wanted to be an actor, and that his acting was very good, and despite his talent, he gave up on that path because of her birth. Because of this guilt, Nagisa was unable to act on the stage. Nagisa's father comes up to her and shouts, "Make your dreams come true, Nagisa," and "I didn't give up. I made my dreams your dreams." This shows that a child's dreams are also a parent's dreams. To be honest, I think there are very few families as wonderful as this, but it was a great scene that made me realize once again how wonderful family is.
If I'm with Tomoya-kun (Season 1 Episode 23)
Source: CLANNAD
All I can say is that if there's a girl like this, I'd like to see her. When asked what she wants to do, Nagisa says from the bottom of her heart that anything is fine, anywhere is fine as long as she's with Tomoya-kun. She's just an angel. Since it was a side story, the story was relatively comedy-like up until that point, but at the very end, I was able to see a tremendous thrill.
Don't bully Mei (AS episode 4)
A cool and precious scene of Mr. Comedy Sunohara. Sunohara used to always rush over if something happened to Mei-chan, but as time passed, when Mei-chan was starting to feel disheartened that the cool big brother from back then was no longer there, Sunohara came rushing over and was still the same cool big brother that Mei-chan loved. Sunohara's occasional serious moments are a must-see.
Please move forward when you can (AS episode 9)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya tearfully says that he should have also repeated the year, perhaps because he is worried about Nagisa, who has had to repeat the year, and feels lonely. Nagisa, with a slightly angry tone, admonishes him, saying, "If you can move forward, then go ahead. If you can move forward, then you should move forward." To Tomoya, who is about to stop, this is a line that Nagisa can say because he knows how painful it is to stop himself. It was a great scene that made me think deeply about even obvious things.
Let's Get Married (AS Episode 12)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya is mentally exhausted by his father's arrest and the lack of apology and anger towards him, and in his frustration, he slams his fist against the wall repeatedly. Nagisa desperately tries to stop him. She tells him that there's no point in doing that, that he's not alone, that she's here for him, and that he can rely on her. It's not easy to stop a man who is really going wild with Nagisa's fragile body, but Nagisa still tries desperately to stop Tomoya. Then, when Tomoya finally regains his composure, he says to Nagisa, who has done so much for him, "Nagisa, let's get married." Nagisa immediately says yes. Tomoya seems to rely on impulse, but I'm impressed by Nagisa, who was willing to say yes no matter what he was asked, no matter what time it was.
Give me Nagisa (AS Episode 13)
Source: CLANNAD
No matter how much he usually mocks Nagisa, he is still Nagisa's parent. He has to make a firm decision when it's time. And Nagisa is not something that Akio can just hand over to him. It was a memorable scene where Tomoya made a manly decision in a situation where they both had to show each other their determination and how serious they were. It was also the moment when their relationship, which had always seemed like an extension of friends, became father and son.
The name is Shio (AS episode 15)
Source: CLANNAD
This is the scene where Tomoya and Nagisa are thinking of a name for their child. Tomoya says that he can give the family name, so Nagisa can decide on the name. And Nagisa thinks that it would be good to have a name related to the sea, which is also related to his own name. And the name they decided on is Shio. As someone who watched them as innocent couples in the first season, it was a very touching and heartwarming scene to see them getting married and deciding on a name for their child.
It's Okay to Cry (AS Episode 18)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya abandoned his child and left him in the care of the Furukawa family for five years due to the disappointment of losing Nagisa. When he met Shio for the first time in five years, he found that she had grown into a fine child thanks to the education of the Furukawa family. On their first trip together, Tomoya lost the toy that Tomoya had bought him, and he has been looking for it but has not been able to find it. Even though Tomoya offers to buy her a new one, Shio says that's the only one her daddy bought her for the first time. Even if it's the same thing, it's the second time he bought her, and the first was that one. Tomoya apologizes to Shio for neglecting her, and Shio, just like Sanae taught her, the only times it's okay to cry are in the bathroom or on her daddy's chest, and she has been holding back her tears even when she can't find her toy, but for the first time in her life she bursts into tears on her daddy's chest, on Tomoya's chest. This would definitely be in the top three tear-jerking episodes.
Did he finish it? (AS Episode 19)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya's father, Okazaki Naoyuki, was not a good father in the anime broadcast. Tomoya found his father annoying and irritating. He injured Tomoya because of himself, and the relationship between the two deteriorated severely due to his self-blame. Naoyuki was involved in something almost criminal, was arrested, and became a total wreck, but ever since Tomoya was born, he dedicated his life entirely to raising Tomoya. He didn't remarry, he didn't play around, just to raising Tomoya. In this famous scene, Tomoya, who had become a father himself, finally realised this and said that he'd had enough of being a dad and that he could take it easy, and they finally made peace. This is one of the top three scenes you can't watch without crying.
The Miracle that the Town Created (AS Episode 22)
Source: CLANNAD
Snow flying up into the sky? No, a ball of light of happiness. The girl from the fantasy world and Tomoya, the two worlds are connected, and many pieces of happiness from various people are released from the fantasy world and dance in the sky. And then a miracle occurs. This part, or rather CLANNAD, has many scenes that leave the viewer's imagination, but I think this part is where Tomoya and the girl from the fantasy world's wishes came true.
It's about to begin (AS episode 22)
Source: CLANNAD
The very last scene of CLANNAD. Fuko's words seem to appeal to the viewers, the players, who have overcome the many sad and painful things that have happened. Tomoya said in episode 1 that it's okay to find something fun to do, and then Fuko said at the end that the fun is just about to begin. The beginning and the end are beautifully connected, and it's so touching that it could be said to be a memorable scene that you will never forget.
Tomoyo's Appearance (Season 1 Episode 1)
Source: CLANNAD
This is the scene where Sakagami Tomoyo, who was said to be a legendary delinquent, appears, and she is so strong that she later beats up Sunohara every day. I remember being shocked that she was so strong that she could beat up a large group of yankees with such a cute face.
A spell that will definitely come true (Season 1 Episode 17)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya and Anzu are locked in the gym storeroom by Yukine Miyazawa's magic spell that they can't escape from. There were rumors that Anzu's popularity exploded around this episode. But it's true that her cute appearance, different from the usual Anzu, was very impressive, and Tomoya's strange behavior to break the spell was also a memorable scene.
It's a hell of a scene, Okazaki-san (Season 1, Episode 18)
Source: CLANNAD
A lot of girls come to Tomoya's school, worried about his suspension. Tomoya is troubled by who makes the food he eats. Furthermore, Fuko makes the situation worse by pretending to come to help him. Kotomi, who was thought to be Tomoya's only ally, also betrayed him. It was a great scene that made me want to experience something so enviable at least once before I die. I'll have the grotesque Baumkuchen made by Fuko.
And the toilet seat cover (AS episode 3)
Source: CLANNAD
This is a very popular scene that is also a kind of famous quote from CLANNAD. At one time, it was popular among some people to add toilet seat covers to the end of sentences (lol). It's not a very important scene in CLANNAD, but for some reason, the wonderful phrases that stick in your mind make a strong impression.
Fuko Appears (appears once in several episodes)
Source: CLANNAD
Fuko-chan is there when you're in trouble. When Okazaki is in trouble, Fuko-chan appears out of nowhere, crossing dimensions, and sometimes leaves the situation even more chaotic before leaving. It's enough if she appears. In reality, she's not supposed to appear at all. Every scene where Kaze appears is a memorable one (laughs).
Small Palm (AS Episode 22)
Source: CLANNAD
Tomoya, Nagisa, and Shio live happily in a world where everything has been rewarded. And their best friends are working hard on their own paths. While watching this scene, the song Small Palm plays in the background. It's a great scene and I want to know how to watch it without crying. At the end, when they go to see their grandfather and Naoyuki greets them with a smile, it's just so... I really love this part of the lyrics: "Do we remember or have we forgotten all the sad things that have happened up until now?"
CLANNAD Famous Scenes Summary
There are about 50 episodes in total, and it's no exaggeration to say that every episode of CLANNAD has a famous scene, but this time, I tried to include many famous scenes that start with Tomoya and Nagisa, which can be called the official story. After AS, the anime is the Nagisa route, and since it's the main scenario, there were many famous scenes, and I was moved by the memories as I was writing this. There are plenty of memorable scenes for other characters as well, and there are so many more that we couldn't introduce here, so please enjoy CLANNAD with your own eyes! As I've mentioned in the middle of the video, there are many depictions that leave it up to the viewer to decide, so please be forgiving if you have a different interpretation (lol). So, thank you for staying with us until the end.
