CLANNAD is a hugely popular romance adventure game that was released by Visual Arts/Key as a PC game in 2004 and has been ported to various platforms, including the PS2. The game was adapted into an anime in 2007, and the second season, the After Story, was also made into an anime the following year in 2008. It is still hugely popular 15 years after the game was released and over 10 years after the anime. The story was very heartwarming and moved everyone to tears, which became a hot topic. In this article, we will introduce the charms of Miyazawa Yukine, a sub-heroine but also an important key person!

The protagonist, Okazaki Tomoya, had given up sports due to an injury and was living as a delinquent, but one day he met Furukawa Nagisa, who was standing alone on the slope leading to school. This encounter would greatly add color to Okazaki Tomoya's gray life. Their school life together is completely different from what they had been used to, and the story follows Nagisa's wish to revive the drama club as the two of them overcome various obstacles, growing closer together and growing together.

This is a story about Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa up until their graduation and what happens after. Nagisa graduated a year late due to illness, and Okazaki works as an electrician where an acquaintance of his works. The two of them started living together and began living happily every day, thinking that it would continue forever. However, a very sad fate awaits them. What will happen to their future?

Miyazawa Yukine (CV: Enomoto Atsuko)

She is a girl one year younger than the main character Okazaki and is always in the reference room. She loves books, so she stays in the reference room to watch over the books that have nowhere to go. She sometimes acts like a fortune teller, treating visitors to light meals, giving advice on their troubles, and casting spells on them. She has a very gentle personality and is a saint who treats everyone equally. She has excellent grades and is good at sports, making her an almost perfect superhuman. As her older brother was a notorious delinquent, she is close friends with the local delinquents and is affectionately referred to as Yukinee, but she also has a sad past in that her brother passed away in an accident.

Miyazawa Yukine's charm #1: her cute appearance

I'll introduce her later, but her inner self also makes her look cute. The other characters have relatively strong personalities, so she's a classic cute character. The character has a very simple set of long brown hair, but the way she manages to look this cute is truly a testament to Key, and to Yukine.

Miyazawa Yukine's charm part 2: Buddha-like kindness

There are no characters in CLANNAD who are that bad, but I think she is one of the most saintly characters out there. The reference room where Yukine works is a place of rest for lost people and a place where their worries can be resolved, as she hides people like Okazaki and Sunohara who have taken refuge there, and even shows them the way, without asking any questions, or shows them the way, even though they may not know why. All of this is likely due to Yukine's Buddha-like personality.

Miyazawa Yukine's charm part 3: spells

To be honest, Yukine has relatively few scenes in CLANNAD and is more of a supporting character, but when she does appear, the impact she leaves is incredible. In particular, the spells she performs every time are very important in the story. The magic spell in the gym storeroom was a big hit with viewers. In the anime it was an event with Anzu, but there are other character versions in the game, so I'd say good job, Yukinee. She also gives important advice for the story, and I think she'll do something really important when she appears.

Miyazawa Yukine's charm part 4: Key person

As mentioned above, Yukine doesn't have many scenes, but her remarks are often metaphors for very important things in the story, and there are many times when Okazaki and Nagisa remember things they heard from Yukine, and the story continues. Personally, I think that the girl from the fantasy world, Fuko, and Miyazawa Yukine are some kind of special beings connected to another world. I knew the gist of the legend of the balls of light, and the punch line was that I heard that if you collect seven of them, Shenron will appear (lol). I think they probably just dodged the question a bit and actually knew. Yukine, who are you...?

Miyazawa Yukine's charm point 5: her brother

Yukine is very earnest, kind and gentle, while her brother is the polar opposite, being the leader of a group of delinquents, but she was originally afraid of him. However, after her brother passed away, she became closer to his friends in order to find out what kind of person he was and why he was so loved, and this is how she became the Yukine she is today. In reality, she loves her brother very much, and has a special affection for Okazaki, who resembles him in some ways.

Miyazawa Yukine's charm #6: Destructive power

This is not a violent story like Anzu or Tomoyo. Yukine generally doesn't rely on others or show any signs of being in trouble, she's always calm and never shows her weaknesses to anyone, but there were some tearful scenes in the Yukine scenario, when she cast a spell on herself to make her meet the person she likes, and then when she was crying and talking to someone in a warehouse even though no one was there, and when she realized that it was her brother that she wanted to meet, which she doesn't usually do (from Hikari Watches Over the Slope), and when she rests her head on Okazaki's lap, she was so honest and cute, it was a devastating cuteness that you don't see in the normal Yukine. The fact that she only shows a little of these sides of herself is also Yukine's charm.

Although she is one step behind the five main characters, she is a significant contributor in terms of importance, and it is no exaggeration to say that Miyazawa Yukine is an important character who helped Nagisa and Okazaki move forward because of her. She's a perfect girl who is both cute in appearance and a saint inside, so when you watch CLANNAD, be sure to pay close attention to what Yukine says and admire her cuteness. Thank you for staying with us until the end.
