"Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh" encompasses many genres, including science fiction, otherworldly worlds, magic, action, and mystery. It skillfully blends these elements and is incredibly entertaining. While I can confidently recommend "Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh," what really sets it apart are its many captivating characters. This time, I'll be introducing them by "strength." I'll also present them in a ranking format, so please make your predictions.

Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh is a wildly popular light novel series. It began in 1998 and will celebrate its 21st anniversary in 2019. That just goes to show how much support it has, but Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh was a work that was so futuristic at the time that it could even be said to have changed light novels. It's a masterpiece that will remain in the history of light novels!
Various Omnibus

This is the main character, Boogiepop. He is a being said to be a Grim Reaper who operates using the body of a high school girl named Touka Miyashita as a vessel. Although he appears female, Boogiepop is male. He uses the first-person pronoun "boku" (I), so he may not be an adult, but that is still shrouded in mystery. The story unfolds in an anthology format, with Boogiepop at the center, who has a mysterious aura. If you haven't seen the anime yet, there's still time!
The Enemy of the World

To the public, Boogiepop is a fantasy-like figure who "kills you when you're at your most beautiful, preventing you from becoming any uglier." However, in reality, when the world is in danger, he is the enemy of the world's enemies, automatically emerging like a mysterious bubble. I'm definitely not saying they're allies (lol). There are many enemies in this world, and they all have a variety of abilities. This time, I'll be announcing a strength ranking that includes those enemies.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 10 Strength Rankings: Limit
Twin Sister
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Reaching the top 10 is Mitsuko Amamiya, nicknamed "Limit." In the series, she is the older twin sister who appears in "Lost Mobius." She appears in the anime's opening credits for about 0.1 seconds (lol). They're twins, so similar it's hard to tell who's who.
Abilities
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Limit's ability is "Air Bag." This ability creates an absolute wall that protects the user from any attack. Normally, the user uses the air they are in contact with as a shield. It can repel any attack, but cannot attack from the user. This makes it the strongest defensive ability, which is why it's ranked 10th! I'm looking forward to seeing it appear in the anime.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 9 Strength Rankings Reset
Twin Sister
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
This is Amamiya Setsuko, the younger sister of the aforementioned Amamiya Mitsuko. Their ability is called "Reset," and they are powerful enough to be compared to Fortissimo (see below), who is said to be the strongest in the Unification Organization. They are twins and both are strong, but ultimately they end up in conflict, with one faction wanting to destroy the world and the other wanting to control it.
Abilities

Setsuko's ability is "Reset." In contrast to her sister Mitsuko, Setsuko can control the impact of "Moby-Dick," a weapon thrown or fired from her hand. It possesses the greatest offensive ability of the Unification Organization. He also has agile movements and excellent evasion abilities.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 8 Strength Rankings: Fortissimo
The Strongest MPLS
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
He is the strongest MPLS (ability user) in the Unification Organization. He is ranked at the highest in both attack and defense. He is aware of his own abilities and power, and perhaps out of boredom, he has a habit of challenging those said to be stronger than him. He challenged Boogiepop, but since he is not an enemy of the world, he was easily brushed aside. His weaknesses are the short range of his attacks and his inability to attack and defend at the same time, which is why he was ranked 8th this time.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 7 Strength Ranking: Rokumine Midori
Snow Woman
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Top 7 is an MPLS named Rokumine Midori. She is the enemy of the world, and according to Boogiepop, she is a Snow Woman. Her power allows her to stop (freeze) any object just by looking at it. Her husband is Rokumine Heizo. She is immortal because her own power is constantly attacking her. So the age gap between her and her husband is only getting bigger (lol).
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Strength Ranking: Top 6: Zoragi
Makoto Hashisaka
Imaginary Father
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Zoragi is an imaginary monster created by Makoto's imagination of the father he has never met. It also appears on the cover of King of Distortion. The King of Distortion is an automatic being, just like Boogiepop, and has the ability to bring out the distortions and weaknesses in the hearts of humans and others. Zoragi is the father of True Imagination, and is the physical manifestation of the King of Distortion. He is capable of easily destroying an entire city, and this was the only incident in which Boogiepop was injured. He is also a monster of the true heart, so even after defeating Zoragi, you have to fight a double battle: you must show him your true self as a "true hero" and convince him! He is quite a tough opponent.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 5 Strength Rankings: Riki-Tiki-Tabi
A Mysterious Being
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
This mysterious being appears in the light novel "Beat's Discipline," which can be considered a side story to Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh. He has no physical body, and his will has been passed down through many people for generations. In this light novel, he appears as a young boy wearing something resembling a nun's habit.
Reflection
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
A nemesis of the Unification Agency, this entity is a wandering energy entity. It has no physical form. It reflects any attack back at the opponent, leaving Riki-Tiki-Tabi unaffected. They also have the ability to transfer damage directly to their opponents. Attacks such as slashing, kicking, and choking are transferred directly to the attacker, so Liki-Tiki-Tavi is not harmed. They can even repel hostility directed at them, and can attack mentally as well. This can leave their opponents unable to move. However, they cannot attack themselves, so they are ranked 5th this time. However, they are almost the strongest. Only witches can stand up to them!
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 4 in the Strength Ranking: Alcestis
The Ice Witch
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Alcestis is one of the archenemies of the Fire Witch, Nagi Kirima. She exists as the Ice Witch and has lived for over 100 years, changing bodies as she goes. She can freeze giants bigger than mountains just by looking at them, and the moment an opponent shows hostility towards Alcestis, their spirit is connected to them and they are forcibly transported to the "Witch's Future," a ruined wasteland where no life can exist. She is the strongest, as she can kill with just hostility. However, she was defeated in a battle with the Fire Witch, so she did not quite make it to first place.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top 3 in the Strength Ranking: Walpurgis
The Fire Witch
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Walpurgis is the Fire Witch inside Nagi Kirima. She also exists in different bodies, and before she was Kirima Nagi, she was her mother. She chooses bodies that are good for both the mind and body, making her the strongest in the Kirima family (lol). She is the nemesis of Alcestis, who is in 4th place.
Antagonism
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Alcestis is Alcestis's counterpart. While Alcestis's power is gravitational, Walpurgis's power is repulsive. He also has a fiery temper, and the moment he materialized he declared war on the Unification Organization, defeated Oxygen, and defeated Alcestis, turning her into an ice wedge. He's incredibly strong, isn't he? However, his mental weakness was exposed and he was defeated by Kirima Nagi. That's why he came in third place this time!
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Strength Ranking #2: Mizunohoshi Touko
The World's Enemy
Death Energy
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
His ability is "Strange Days," which allows him to see people's deaths and manipulate their death energy. By storing this death energy, his mind, or soul, continues to live on even after his body perishes. Although he committed suicide, his soul continues to wander, using many people to achieve his goals. Boogiepop continues to pursue that soul. It is a very troublesome entity, and it is causing Boogiepop a lot of trouble. Its spiritual power is what makes it so troublesome.
[Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh] Top of the Strength Ranking: Boogiepop
It's definitely this guy
Source: Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh © Kohei Kadono/KADOKAWA ASCII Media Works/Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh Production Committee
Topping the list is, of course, the protagonist, Boogiepop. While there are some close battles, it's unlikely there's any character who can match Boogiepop. He's a being that transcends humanity, and his fighting style relies more on hidden powers than abilities. While other characters have various abilities, such as speed or the ability to fight with thin threads like piano wire, Boogiepop's simple powers are the most effective. He also has a kind side, as seen when he skillfully pushes students to the brink of suicide, or, conversely, stops a student from committing suicide with just his words.
