The author's talent is incredible
Author Yumi Tamura is an incredibly popular manga artist, whose hit series has continued uninterrupted since her debut in 1983. She continues to write today, and readers are constantly drawn to her world. It's no wonder that such a veteran manga artist has continued to write this epic work for 35 volumes. While 35 volumes might seem intimidating, once you pick it up, it's a quick read. You'll read it in no time. Let's start by introducing "7SEEDS."
What's the plot of 7SEEDS?
Large-Scale Plan
A group of scientists on a fictional Earth made a terrifying prediction: "In the near future, a giant celestial body will fall, causing various disasters on Earth, resulting in a state similar to that of the dinosaurs." So, in a top-secret global meeting, the "7SEEDS" project was decided upon. It's an ambitious plan to cryopreserve young, healthy humans, and then thaw them once a computer determines that the Earth's disasters have subsided, in order to preserve the species for the future. It's a pretty crazy plan, but they went ahead and carried it out.
Survival Start
Participants must meet a number of criteria set by the government. They must be healthy, young, have no criminal record, and have good DNA, among other things. Some people are actually informed of their whereabouts in advance, while others wake up to find themselves here. The "Spring Team" we'll introduce today are people we didn't know at all. At first, they struggle to accept their situation, but gradually they learn to survive by utilizing each other's areas of expertise! Let's take a look.
【7SEEDS】Spring Team
Suegurono Hana
This is Suegurono Hana, the 17-year-old protagonist of the Spring Team arc. She's a beautiful girl, but she's also competitive and unyielding, and has considerable knowledge of survival. She later learns that her father, Suegurono Takashi, was heavily involved with "7SEEDS," which leaves her with mixed feelings. She's also in a romantic relationship with Aota Arashi, a member of the "Summer B Team," and works hard, hoping to reunite with Aota. She's feminine, strong-willed, and always looking straight ahead, making her the perfect protagonist. Her voice actress is the ever-popular Yoko Hikasa!
Yukima Haru
This is Yukima Haru, a 16-year-old from a distinguished musical family. Her specialty is the piano, and as you'd expect from such a distinguished family, she's quite skilled. At first, he was devastated, thinking he'd never be able to play the piano again, but Hana reaffirmed his love for music and he bounced back. He's a bit cynical, but he grows stronger as time goes on. It's amazing that such a handsome man can play the piano. His voice actor is the manly-voiced Hirofumi Nojima!
Tsunomata Mansaku
This is Tsunomata Mansaku, 18 years old, the fourth son of a Buddhist temple. He's calm and collected, with a second-degree black belt in archery. He's a physically strong man who expresses his emotions through Chinese poetry, making him quite an old-fashioned character. It's just as it seems (lol). Before being frozen, he had a girlfriend, and later we learn that he served as an assistant to a professor who was a participant in the "7SEEDS" project. She never told him anything, which must have been quite confusing. Her body was later discovered on Sado Island. It turned out to be a tragic love story. Her voice actor is Ryutaro Okiayu, known for his role in Nube!
Niigusa Hibari
This is Niigusa Hibari, 12 years old. Perhaps the thawing process failed, as she continued to sleep alone after thawing. She's the heir to the Shinkusa family, which has been around since the Heian period, and has a haughty and rather mature personality. It's a shame, considering she's such a beautiful girl, that it goes without saying that everyone on the "Spring Team" thought, "She'd be so cute if she was sleeping!" (lol) She's distantly related to Kusakari Hotaru of the "Summer B Team," and has a one-sided rivalry with her. Her voice actress is Kitamura Eri, who has played many main characters!
Taiami Chisa
This is Taiami Chisa, 18 years old. She has a very gentle and calm personality. In the anime, she wears her hair in a bun. While generally calm, when she's angry, she can become quite scary, enough to scare those around her (lol). Even Anohana is shy. She's kind, but she's also strong-willed! Her voice actress is the soothing Mamiko Noto!
Nobi Momotaro
This is Nobi Momotaro, 12 years old. Of course, his nickname is Nobita (lol). He has an excellent memory and won a competition before being frozen. Apparently, she was treated like a genius at school, even being called a child prodigy. In this episode of "7SEEDS," she is rescued by the "Summer A Team" while adrift after the Spring Team disbands. She is treated poorly, but seems to have been saved after reuniting with the Spring Team. Despite her young age, she's a hard worker! Her voice actor is veteran Ryo Hirohashi!
Amacha Fujiko
This is Amacha Fujiko, a 17-year-old girl who aspires to be a doctor. She went missing when the "Spring Team" broke up, but later began living with Chisato, and Hana joined her along the way. Before being frozen, she was actively involved in activities such as volunteering overseas. She witnessed the birth of Kurumi from the "Autumn Team" and continues to grow. Her voice actress is Shizuka Ito, the voice actress for Sailor Venus!
Yanagi Tousei
This is Yanagi Tousei, the guide for the "Spring Team." His age is unknown, but he is a former member of the Self-Defense Forces. He is quite stubborn and arrogant, and initially disliked, but deep down he has a strong sense of responsibility to the team. In the end, he sacrifices his life for the team, a true man of character. He has quite a large female fanbase! His voice actor is the renowned Hisao Egawa, who's played everything from handsome men to Spopovich (lol)!
