This work is serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday and is written by the author of the popular anime adaptation Hayate the Combat Butler. The story centers around the protagonist, Yuzaki Hoshizora (written as Hoshizora but pronounced as Nasa), who can reach the speed of light faster than NASA, and his mysterious, cool, and incredibly cute wife, Yuzaki Tsukasa, who flirts with him. But of course, there are more characters than just these two. The other characters also have strong personalities, of course. We'd like to introduce you to the unique semi-regular Arisugawa Kaname, and his family!
Nasa's favorite nearby public bath: Kusatsu Onsen Kaze Yufuin
Nasa isn't particularly picky about where he lives, living on the second floor of a cheap apartment called "Tachibana No. 3" (a haunted building, no bath) for ¥42,000 a month. Since it doesn't have a bath, he prefers to bathe at Kusatsu Onsen Kaze Yufuin, the family home and part-time job of his junior colleague, Arisugawa Kaname. The name seems like it's easy to just add "kaze" to anything, so it's likely unrelated to Kusatsu Onsen or Yufuin.

Originally a junior at Nasa's school, she's a girl with pigtails and a ribbon. She generally respects Nasa and always speaks like a junior, but she's quite cheeky, and when she first appears, she teases him for being with a girl. Nasa apparently had no interest in girls during his school days, so she was incredibly surprised when he got married.
Younger, but Reliable Junior
Although she is younger and one of the younger characters in the story, she has a strong personality, and without her, the bathhouse might not even be able to function. She's been involved in the bathhouse business for a long time, and it seems she's had her fair share of hardships, with her unreliable older sister and mother, and her father leaving her for another woman. While she may seem like a cheeky junior, she's actually one of the most sensible and reliable people in the story. In fact, it's only thanks to Nasa's help that the bathhouse is able to function as it does today, and she seems to feel a certain gratitude for him.
He's a junior who likes dirty jokes, but...
Perhaps because of his job at a public bathhouse, he likes dirty jokes and sometimes plays the role of the funny man, but since many people, including his family, are unreasonable or unconventional, he often plays the role of the conscientious straight man. He often gives good advice and acts as a consultant to Nasa-kun and Tsukasa, who are naive due to their quick marriages, so while he initially appeared as a cheeky junior, he has now settled into his role as a reliable and sensible advisor.
The story begins with a casual remark from her
She appears more frequently than Nasa and Tsukasa, and often begins the story with a casual remark or piece of advice from her. She gives advice to Nasa and Tsukasa, encourages them, and finds them amusing, but she's also a very kind person who listens to their irritating boasting without a frown. She's such an important character that the story would be impossible without her.
Arisugawa Aya, Kaname Arisugawa's older sister, is a defeated heroine from the start.
Arisugawa Aya is Kaname Arisugawa's older sister and a classmate of Nasa's. She has a gentle personality, but she's fatally insensitive and slow, making her a bit of a loser compared to her reliable younger sister. She's had feelings for Nasa since their school days, but he got married early in the story, so she became a defeated heroine from the moment she first appeared. What's more, she didn't even realize Nasa was married at first.
A Useless Big Sister
From the beginning, she wasn't a defeated heroine, or rather, she wasn't even a heroine, and she had few screen time. She's a pitiful, unfortunate older sister who's not good at studying. One day, when she suddenly finds out that Nasa is married, she tries to overcome her heartbreak by becoming a YouTuber. She also shows her bad side and gets beaten up by her sister for being so logical. She also lacks stamina. It seems like she's becoming more and more pathetic with each appearance.
A Big Sister with a Natural Sense for Games
Though Aya seems like a bit of a disappointment, she actually possesses a genius sense for games and is a serious gamer. She overwhelmed Tsukasa, who was quite an experienced player, in a certain famous fighting game, completely beating him to a pulp with 20 consecutive wins, leaving him extremely excited. Feeling his pride hurt, Tsukasa challenged him to a match using a Do○kas and Bar○aron, which he happened to find lying around. He won by taking advantage of his experience, but she quickly adapted to the unfamiliar controller and engaged in an evenly matched battle.
Feeling the Vibes of a Romantic Comedy
Nasa's cousin, Onimaru Ginga, is a tough-looking, yakuza-like man, but actually harmless. After a disastrous encounter when they bump into each other naked, and their favorability rating is at its lowest, it seems like something is progressing, or maybe not, on a hike they go on together. This is a romantic comedy.
The Owner of Kusatsu Onsen Fuyufuin, the Unfortunate Mother of Aya and Kaname
Kaname and Aya's mother, and the owner of Kusatsu Onsen Fuyufuin. She seems to have had some tragic life experiences, and has a straightforward personality, which can be described as insensitive. Naturally, she knows about Nasa's marriage, and even mercilessly tells her daughter, heartbroken over the sudden end of her first love, "Get a haircut, study abroad, or whatever, and heal your pain as soon as possible. You'll have to pay for your own travel expenses." However, this seems to be due to the traumatic experience of her husband being seduced by a younger woman and then eloping.
Apparently she went on a trip to get over her broken heart
After that, she didn't appear for a while. It seems she left her two daughters behind, forgot about the store, and went on a trip overseas to get over her broken heart, and Kaname had forgotten about her. In the end, she still hasn't gotten over the fact that her husband was cheated on, and sometimes behaves strangely out of nowhere. With a mother like this and Aya being a total loser, it seems like she's causing Kaname a lot of trouble.
[Tonikaku Kawaii] Arisugawa Kaname & Family Summary
This is a romantic comedy, but it's a unique comedy/romance story that starts with the characters being married from the very beginning. Kaname is an essential character, even within the story. However, his sister and mother might not be necessary. He serves as a conscientious straight man and advisor, and in a sense, he's the character most closely related to the reader. The anime featuring Kaname and his family is scheduled to begin airing in October. Anime shows tend to be postponed these days, but I hope they don't!
