Tonikaku Kawaii is a series currently being serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. It's a romantic comedy, but it skips over the process of falling in love and getting married, starting with the main character getting married right from the start. From there, there aren't any major hardships, and 90% of the story is spent simply flirting with his cute bride and deepening their bond. Tonikaku Kawaii, a work in which the bride is simply adorable, will be made into an anime starting in October 2020. I'd like to introduce you to Yuzaki Nasa, the incredibly lucky protagonist who has been blessed with such an incredibly cute bride!
Yuzaki Hoshizora, written as Hoshizora, is NASA! The Protagonist with a Sparkly Name
Nasa, whose name is written as "starry sky," was chosen with the hope that he would grow up to be a man as big as the universe. It's pronounced "Nasa" after the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). As expected, Nasa, who was given what's commonly known as a sparkly name, grows up being mocked by those around him because of his name. His kindergarten teacher would laugh at him every time she called him by his name, and his friends at kindergarten mocked him, saying it was strange to call him Nasa, considering he'd never become an astronaut.
Nasa Yuzaki: Growing Up Straight and Crooked
Nasa-kun grew up being ridiculed by those around him, but he didn't become sulky or turn to delinquency. He grew up upright, but he hated being made fun of, so he worked hard to avoid being made fun of. As a result, he became a brilliant student who achieved first place in national mock exams, but at the same time, he grew up to be an overconfident, self-conscious middle school student who considered himself a perfect superhuman. He calls himself a man who can travel faster than NASA.
Nasa Yuzaki has a fateful encounter, gets hit by a truck, but doesn't reincarnate.
Nasa, the self-conscious protagonist, happens to meet an incredibly cute girl one snowy day and falls in love at first sight. Thinking that this is a fateful encounter, Nasa instinctively tries to call out to her. However, he is hit by an oncoming truck without even noticing it. He is hit hard and bleeding, but he is not reincarnated into another world, and miraculously, he survives. This is because the girl shielded him.
Nasa-kun grits his teeth despite the fatal injury
The girl was clearly more seriously injured than Nasa, but she walked away as if she was unconcerned. Nasa-kun was also seriously injured, bleeding from his head, but with incredible determination, he gritted his teeth and set off to search for the girl despite his injuries. Miraculously, Nasa found the girl and confessed his feelings to her. The girl replied, "I'll go out with you if you marry me," and Nasa replied without question, saying he'd be happy to. However, Nasa, unable to bear it any longer, collapses and wakes up in the hospital.

Afterward, Nasa, who had suffered a serious injury, was hospitalized and happily resigned from junior high school. A year later, he passed the entrance exam with top grades, but instead of attending high school, he spent his days working part-time jobs. Unable to forget the girl he met, he continued working with a blank mind and lived alone in a cheap apartment that seemed somehow familiar. One day, when Nasa turned 18, that incredibly cute girl appeared, offering to become his bride.

He's a quirky genius with a personality that is completely absorbed in what he decides to do, such as getting up and confessing to a girl he fell in love with at first sight, even though he was seriously injured and near death. When he's working, he shows such intense concentration that he can't even notice anything else.
Nasa-kun is indifferent to things other than his interests
However, he is indifferent to things that don't interest him. He lives comfortably in a cheap apartment without a bath, has no TV at home, no hobbies, and doesn't seem to have much interest in entertainment. However, it's a different story when his cute wife is involved! He becomes interested in things like housing and entertainment, things he hadn't really thought about before. He's not very knowledgeable about anime, games, or other cultures, but he does show some biased knowledge in certain areas.
Nasa Yuzaki: No matter what you say, he's a genius and a man who can survive anywhere.
Once he gets motivated, he's driven to study to the fullest. Not only does he achieve top scores in national mock exams, he can easily repair electronic devices that require specialized knowledge, program and create games on old computers, build his own electrical appliances used in public baths, and build optimized systems by modifying the bathhouse's boiler. He's also good at logical thinking, and has incredible specs that make him easily wealthy if he were motivated. However, he doesn't seem to have any intention of making use of his talents.
Nasa's Godfathers! Nasa's Parents Are Kind Parents
Although Nasa's parents gave him a flashy name and caused him unnecessary hardship, they are truly kind people, unlike the parents of the protagonist from the previous work. His father was originally an archaeologist who taught at a national university in Tokyo, but he moved to Nara Prefecture for the vague reason of wanting to do excavations in the original location. He inherited his straightforwardness once he sets his mind to something. His mother, meanwhile, has a strangely good sense of intuition, which he likely inherited from his parents.
Nasa-kun is also a very kind person
Nasa-kun is grateful that Tsukasa saved his life when he nearly died in a traffic accident, and he bows his head sincerely to his kind parents. Nasa himself is also a very compassionate person. Even if he has something he really wants to do, or someone in trouble, he can't ignore them, even if he thinks it's a hassle.

90% of Tonikaku Kawaii is about the incredibly cute bride and the constant flirting with her, but the main character, Nasa-kun, is also quite a unique and eccentric character. His unique and eccentric personality adds a comical element, and even though there are quite a few episodes where they're just flirting, I think it keeps the show interesting! The Tonikaku Kawaii anime is scheduled to start airing in October! I highly recommend this anime to anyone who just wants to replenish their cuteness!
