The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic is a light novel based on the novel site Let's Become a Novelist, and it's been decided that it will be adapted into an anime series starting in January 2024! The protagonist, who was never meant to be summoned to another world, discovers that he has the potential to become a healing magic specialist, but what awaits him there is an extremely Spartan, hellish training session. After surviving the training, the protagonist becomes a healer running around the battlefield...or rather, he becomes invincible with his well-trained physique and endurance, able to heal himself when needed! In this article, we'll be introducing a brief summary of the first episode of this work, with spoilers!
Story 1: Second-year high school student Usato Ken gets caught up in a summoning to another world!
One day, second-year high school student Usato is summoned to another world along with his classmates, Vice Student Council President Kazuki Ryusen and the perfect superhuman Student Council President Suzune Inugami. King Lloyd of the Ringle Kingdom, who summoned them, explains that the Demon King's army is invading and putting them in a critical situation, and that as a last resort, he has summoned a being from another world who possesses the qualities of a hero. The kings bow and ask the three for their cooperation, but in reality, only Kazuki and Suzune possess the qualities of a hero; Usato was simply caught up in the summoning.
Story Part 2: Usato gets caught up in the chaos and discovers he has the potential for healing magic!
Kazuki and Suzune discover that they possess practical magical abilities and immense magical powers as heroes, but the moment Usato's magical abilities are revealed, everyone erupts in excitement. Usato possesses the rare potential to become a healing magician. The reason everyone is buzzing isn't because he has special abilities, but because they believe one person must not find out about this fact.
Story Part 3: Rose, the commander of the Kingdom's Lifesaving Corps, kidnaps Usato!
The country's leaders were concerned that Rose, the commander of the Kingdom's Lifesaving Corps, would discover Usato's existence. Rose had made a significant contribution in the battle against the Demon King's army and was the strongest person in the country. However, her educational policy was extremely Spartan! If an ordinary person were to undergo Rose's training, she would impose such harsh training that it would destroy their mind before their body. Usato's existence was easily discovered by Rose, and she almost forcibly took Usato away.
Story Part 4: Usato Becomes a Member of the Kingdom's Lifesaving Corps!
Members of the Kingdom's Lifesaving Corps are tasked with transporting and treating the wounded on the battlefield. However, these members have a mindset that seems to be living in the end of the world, and Rose, the leader of the corps, is the most notable example of this. From that day on, Usato began training with the Lifesaving Corps, undergoing extremely harsh training that involves forcibly healing injuries and fatigue with magic and training nonstop.
Story Part 5: Usato begins to adapt to the incredibly Spartan training!?
Although it was a training session that would have caused a normal person to run away, Usato showed incredible adaptability. Before being summoned, Usato was aware that he had been spending his days aimlessly with no particular goals in mind. Now that he had a clear goal, he was motivated to continue training. He also possessed the adaptability and mental fortitude to withstand harsh environments, and persevered through the rigorous training. Apart from that, he disliked the unreasonableness imposed on him by his leader, Rose, and rather than becoming discouraged, he began to show a rebellious spirit.
Story #6: Graduating from Ordinary Life!? Usato is Adopting a Muscle-Brained Way of Thinking!
Usato adapted to the unimaginably rigorous training, and within just two weeks, he had completely absorbed himself into the rescue squad and adopted a muscle-brained way of thinking. By forcibly repairing his damaged muscles with healing magic and continuing his training, he achieved an otherworldly level of super-healing, gaining a strong physique and mental strength. Though he appears quiet, even Rose acknowledges his hidden rebellious spirit, adaptability, and strong mental strength. Despite possessing nothing special except his healing magic, Usato was described by Rose as possessing ideal qualities.
Story Part 7: Usato Forced to Survive in an Extremely Dangerous Forest!
One day, as Usato begins to adjust to the rescue team, Rose gives him an absurd request: to hunt the apex predator of the forest ecosystem, where extremely dangerous monsters roam. He's forced to carry a camping kit and be thrown into the forest. The apex predator in question is a large bear called a Grand Grizzly! Soon after entering the forest, Usato finds himself being chased by a Grand Grizzly and a Blue Grizzly.
Story #8: A deadly battle unfolds with a vicious creature that can easily kill apex predators!
However, in that forest existed an incredible monster capable of killing even apex predators: a grand grizzly and a blue grizzly. It was an enormous snake! The snake easily killed two grizzly bears. Usato saw a grizzly bear cub lying sadly beside its corpse, and resolved to subjugate the snake. Usato teams up with a grizzly bear cub to fight the giant snake, but is driven into a hopeless situation.
Story 9: Usato is shown a mysterious vision!
Rose, who had witnessed the entire battle with the giant snake through her familiar, rushes in and easily finishes it off. Although she was unable to win, Usato's actions are praised by Rose. She takes home the baby blue grizzly bear she fought alongside, names it Bluerin, and returns to her days of training. Then, one day, with the countdown to the Demon King's invasion approaching, Usato is shown a vision by a mysterious girl with animal ears of a war with the Demon King's army, in which Kazuki and Suzune are killed. The Demon King's army is accompanied by a powerful warrior known as the Black Knight, and it was this Black Knight who killed the two in the vision.
Story Part 10: The Battle Begins! A Healing Factor Runs Through the Battlefield!
The Demon King's army finally begins its invasion, marking the beginning of Usato, Kazuki, and Suzune's first battle. Usato runs around the battlefield recovering the wounded, and occasionally beats up soldiers from the Demon King's army. But meanwhile, Kazuki and Suzune are facing off against the Black Knight. The Black Knight has the truly invincible ability to nullify any attack he receives and even reverse it exactly as it was. The soldiers fall helplessly, and even when they try to blind or surprise attack, Kazuki and Suzune are defeated by this unfair ability that reverses the damage without question.
Story #11: Usato repels the Black Knight by misusing healing magic!
With Kazuki and Suzune facing a lethal blow, the battle would have turned against them. Usato rushed to their aid just in time. However, the Black Knight who defeated them possessed the invincible ability to return any damage he received directly to his opponent. However, Usato's physical attacks could be used against the Black Knight without being counterattacked. By using healing magic to heal the Black Knight while striking him, Usato directly inflicted pain and shock without harming him. By misusing healing magic—healing the opponent with healing magic and only inflicting pain and shock—Usato was able to knock the Black Knight unconscious and capture him. This victory would determine the outcome of the war.
Story 12: Traveling Abroad with the Beastwoman Amako
After defeating the Demon King's army, Usato finds the beastwoman who had shown him the vision of Kazuki and Suzune's deaths and questions her about her purpose. She turns out to be Amako, a beastwoman with precognitive abilities, and she is searching for a healing magic user who can save her sick mother. Furthermore, at the request of the king, Usato travels abroad as an emissary to secure the cooperation of other nations. He also accompanies Amako on her journey to fulfill her wish, traveling abroad with Kazuki, Suzune, Bururin, and the guard, Alku.
