The Rising of the Shield Hero is, as the name suggests, the story of the Shield Hero's rise to power. This story is already complete in the original web novel version. It would be fine to rank the characters' strength after all the others have been eliminated, but as the anime is about to begin, we will also introduce the main characters and introduce each character in a ranking format based on their strength when they first fought Glass and the others. To be honest, there are many vague points about their strength, but we hope you will enjoy it and think, "Oh, so these characters are appearing!"

Strength Ranking: 8th Place: Spear Hero, Kitamura Motoyasu

Screaming Motoyasu

He's a handsome 21-year-old college student. He feels that this world is the same as the world of the online game Emerald Online. He's a womanizer, and all of his companions are girls. He came to this world after his cheating was discovered and he was killed, and he says he doesn't like girls with pathological symptoms who are obsessed with something and remain single-minded as if they are trapped by something. For this reason, he entrusted the matter of Rishia to Naofumi, the Shield Hero. He is generally a softie and would not do anything to make women his enemy, but he seems to be very opinionated and, although he says he trusts his companions, he is always being manipulated by Myne.

Strength Ranking: 8th Place: Bow Hero, Itsuki Kawasumi

Itsuki Kawasumi, summoned as the Bow Hero, is a 17-year-old high school student. He's actually from a Japan with supernatural powers, summoned from a different world from the Japan known by the Shield Hero, Naofumi. When he was summoned to this world, he described it as similar to the consumer game, Dimension Wave. His magical aptitude is wind and earth, and he can use the spell Down, which lowers the enemy's abilities. Although he has many abilities, he is still young, and like the Sword Hero, Amagi, he is often seen to be unaware of his own ignorance and become arrogant. He is a hero who never apologizes.

Strength Ranking: 8th Place: Sword Hero, Ren Amaki

Amaki Ren, the Sword Hero summoned to this world, is a 16-year-old high school student. While he's still a high school student and lacks thoughtfulness in some areas, he doesn't seem like a bad person. When he was summoned, he thought this world was a VRMMO (Virtual Reality MMO). It seems that swords are a common and coveted weapon in this world as well. Five subordinates volunteered to accompany the hero on his journey, the most of any of the five summoned. Incidentally, the protagonist, the Shield Hero, tried to equip a weapon at the weapon shop for the first time, but was unable to do so due to a violation of the terms of service, even though he was still trying to hold a sword in his hand at the time. Since the power relationship between these three heroes is completely unknown, they have been ranked the same.

Strength Ranking: 7th Place: Filo

As part of their covert business, the slave trader sold a gacha-like egg game in which they could buy an egg of unknown quality for 100 silver coins. At the time, 100 silver coins was a considerable sum for the Shield Heroes, but perhaps drawn to the idea, they chose one and purchased it. From that egg hatched Filo, a filolial. A mysterious monster who loves to pull carts and becomes restless if he doesn't pull the cart at the right speed. Just like demi-humans, monsters also tend to grow larger as they level up, and Filo grows up healthily. The Shield Hero dotes on Filo as she grows up healthily, while Raphtalia feels a bit jealous.

Strength Ranking: 6th Place: Theres

Theres asks the Shield Hero to make some jewelry for her. Impressed by his skill, she promises to pay in installments. She then fights the Shield Hero and his companions. What we currently know is that she uses jewels to cast magic, and that she, along with L'Arc, comes from the other side of the waves. And she's hostile to our hero. Her magical abilities are incredibly powerful, but what is her true identity?

Strength Ranking: 5th Place: Raphtalia

Raphtalia was originally afraid of the Shield Hero, but she also respected him. One reason for this is that the Shield Hero was a hero among the demi-humans. After that, she began to say things like she wanted to share Iwatani's pain, and before she knew it, her feelings had turned to love. After Filo was born, they began fighting over Iwatani. Iwatani seems to understand Raphtalia's feelings, but for one thing, after being betrayed by Myne in the past, he doesn't want to get too involved in relationships with women, so he thinks he'll put it off for the time being until the world is at peace. It will be interesting to see how their relationship will ultimately develop. Incidentally, the Shield Hero actually kissed her on the cheek once. She was embarrassed at the time, and the Shield Hero spoke of it as if he were kissing a pet, but the true meaning of that kiss is also something to be curious about.

Strength Ranking: 4th Place: Glass

Glass

Glass, who became an enemy after the last wave, also came from the world beyond the waves. While a person, she is characterized by her spirit-like existence and the fact that she always carries a fan as a weapon. Even her existence remains completely unknown. However, it seems she has her own mission. It will be interesting to see how she will become involved in the story going forward. She seems to be able to greatly power up using items, but at this point it is unclear who she is stronger or weaker than.

Strength Ranking: 3rd Place: The Hero of the Shield, Naofumi Iwatani

The Hero and the Scum

At the beginning of the story, Naofumi Iwatani was summoned as the Shield Hero. A 20-year-old college student and otaku, he was reading a book called The Book of the Four Sages in the library. The moment he found a blank page, he was reincarnated into another world. In this other world, a story straight out of a book, he is summoned as the Shield Hero, one of the four holy heroes who protect the world from the threat of the waves. The Shield Hero has great defensive capabilities but no offensive power whatsoever. He is also shunned by Orthoclay Melromarc 32, who summoned him, and the story begins with him shunning them after being falsely accused of raping Melromarc's daughter, Myne Sphere. To be honest, at this point, we only know that he is as skilled as those from the other side of the waves to an extent.

Strength Ranking: 2nd Place: L'Arc

L'Arc's Appearance

L'Arc comes from a world beyond the waves. While fighting the heroes, he seems to be holding back so as not to kill them, suggesting there's something going on. There's also a scene where he shows trust in the Shield Hero, so it's exciting to see how their relationship develops. Although he is clearly superior to the Spear, Sword, and Bow Heroes, he put up a good fight against the Shield Hero. It feels like he still has a secret weapon up his sleeve, and somehow I feel like he's better than the Shield Hero at the moment.

Strength Ranking: #1 Fitoria

Fitria

Fitoria, the queen who rules over the world's Filolials. She's a legendary Filolial said to have been raised by the Four Holy Heroes. While she hasn't appeared much recently, some wonder if she's still stronger than the Shield Heroes. I don't have a clear reason for this, but she gives off an overwhelming impression when she first appears, and she also provides protection when she changes classes, giving the impression that she is a cut above the others. That's why I've chosen Fitoria as my number one pick.

Strength Rankings: Finally

Queen

What I'm curious about is how the positions of the Spear, Bow, and Sword Heroes will change in the future. Unfortunately, they're currently complete losers, but if that's the case, then there's no point in them coming to this world as legendary heroes! I can't wait to see how this series will turn out!
