The Rising of the Shield Hero is a popular work that has been scheduled for a two-season anime adaptation starting in January 2019. Originally a popular web novel, it was later made into a book and manga, and is finally getting its long-awaited anime adaptation. The story is a so-called reincarnation story, in which the protagonist is summoned to this world and given the mission of dealing with the waves that are plunging the world into chaos. However, in this work, the protagonist is portrayed with a great deal of negative emotions, such as hatred and jealousy, which is hard to believe for a protagonist in a fantasy world. The cause of this all is Myne Sphere, whom I will be introducing today. In this article, I would like to introduce you to Myne Sphere.

Who is the First Princess, Myne Sphere?

Myne Sphere is the first princess of Melromarc and will be working alongside the hero. She has a very devious personality and is not particularly well-liked by those around her. In fact, her younger sister Melty has a higher right to the throne, making her second in line. His ability to seduce others is truly impressive. He is so greedy that he even plans to kill his younger sister, Melty, in order to inherit the throne himself.

Mine Sphere: The Source of the Shield Hero's Hatred

When protagonist and Shield Hero Naofumi Iwatani was summoned to this world along with three other heroes, the Shield Hero was a hated presence in this land. This seems to stem from the fact that a generation ago, the Shield Hero sided with the demi-humans, who were at odds with humans. At the time, no one wanted to join the Shield Hero. So Myne stepped up. At the time, she hid her identity as a princess. She stole the Shield Hero's money and valuables, and then lied about being raped. This incident led the Shield Hero to leave the castle and travel alone. Iwatani, who holds a deep grudge against this incident, came to hate Myne and her royal relatives, who would constantly pick fights with him.

The Evil Deeds of Myne-Sphere

Myne-Sphere is surprisingly clever. She challenges opponents she thinks she can win, and then, when she's about to lose, she skillfully intervenes. Here's a brief look at some of Myne-Sphere's evil deeds. There's actually a lot more.

Interfering with the duel between the Shield Hero and the Spear Hero

After learning that Raphtalia is a slave, the Spear Hero duels with the Shield Hero without even asking for details. At the time, Myne was traveling with the Spear Hero. The Spear Hero seemed to be overwhelmingly dominant in the battle, but thanks to the Shield Hero's efforts, he was on the verge of losing. Myne then quickly intervenes. While this interference appears to have given the Spear Hero the victory, her misdeeds were exposed. Even the two high school heroes saw through her. It seems Myne can use wind magic.

Interfering with the Race Between the Shield Hero and Spear Hero

Together, the Shield Hero and the Spear Hero compete in a race using Filo and a dragon, competing for the right to rule a village. As is often the case, there is a faction of the Spear Heroes who interfere. They are, of course, led by Myne. Myne is a wonderful villain who is so satisfying to watch. Of course, her interference fails, and the story ends with the Shield Hero winning, but how long will she remain as this villainous character beside the Spear Hero?

Planning to Assassinate Melty

She plots to assassinate her younger sister, Melty, who is first in line to the throne, and take the throne herself. Her ruthlessness towards her sister is truly menacing. This time, she tries to get not only the Spear Hero, but also the Sword Hero and Bow Hero involved in the plot. Of course, in a way that portrays the Shield Hero as the villain. But Myne is betrayed by the Church of the Three Heroes, with whom she had been in cahoots, and is nearly killed along with the hero and Melty. What a sad existence.

Something Myne Sphere Says Every Time

There's something Myne Sphere says every now and then. It's the line about how the Shield Hero brainwashed her. In fact, her father, the Acting King, also used this phrase. He used it in every scene. It's a common phrase used when criticizing the Shield Hero, and is likely a catchphrase. In reality, the Shield Hero does not have such an ability. It's a magic phrase that he used to smooth over all the inconveniences he faced. I wonder how long we'll be hearing these words.

The Day Myne Sphere Disappeared

The time has finally come for Myne's evil deeds to be exposed. And by her own mother. The Shield Hero calls for the death penalty, but the Queen demands a punishment so severe that she will think death would have been easier. So the Shield Hero proposed renaming the Acting King and Myne. The Acting King was renamed Trash and Myne was renamed Bitch, and anyone who called them by their original names would be punished. Incidentally, Bitch's adventurer name became Whore, and she was also given a slave crest at this time. It's a story that will unfold a little further down the line that Bitch will have this slave crest removed.

The Relationship Between Myne Sphere and Her Father

Perhaps it's better to call it the relationship between a bitch and a scumbag. In fact, the two were originally good friends and did similar things, but gradually a gap began to open up between them. A bitch who switched from being a spear hero to a bow hero. A bitch who crossed the waves. On the other hand, there's the scumbag who has reflected on what he's done up until now, and the bitch who continues to make a fool of herself. Her own father even told her it was okay to kill him if the opportunity arose. However, the scumbag father also worries that if he, as her father, were to take action himself, she might go easy on him.

This time, we introduced Mine, who, despite being in her own country, continues to openly interfere with the Shield Hero in The Rising of the Shield Hero. Her villainous nature, which is refreshing enough to be called the ultimate villain, fulfills the requirements of the Curse series, so while we don't want her to be there, the story wouldn't move forward without her. I'm curious to see what she'll do next.
