The world of The Rising of the Shield Hero begins with four heroes being summoned. However, the main character, the Shield Hero, seems to be disliked in this world. The other three heroes also seem to mock him. However, the four of them share a common destiny. Their mission is to work together to calm the waves that are leading the world into chaos. Among them, the Spear Hero, Kitamura Motoyasu, always seems to pick a fight with the Shield Hero. So, in this article, we'll introduce you to the Spear Hero.

He's a handsome 21-year-old college student. He feels like he's in the world of the online game Emerald Online. He's a womanizer, and all of his companions are girls. He came to this world because he was killed after his cheating was discovered, and he says he doesn't like girls who are obsessed with something and have a pathological condition where they are devoted to one person. For this reason, he entrusted the matter of Rishia to Naofumi, the Shield Hero. He is generally a soft-spoken person and would never make an enemy of women, but he seems to be very opinionated and, despite saying he trusts his comrades, he is always being manipulated by Myne.

The relationship between these two begins at the beginning of the story, when Myne lies about being raped by the Shield Hero. Motoyasu completely believes this lie and begins to believe Naofumi is an enemy of women. Because of this, he probably couldn't forgive Raphtalia for having the slave mark. He also tells Filo, in her human form, that he's into angels. He takes every opportunity to poke fun at Naofumi's relationships with women. During the kidnapping of the second princess and the assassinations of the Bow and Sword Heroes, he completely believes Myne's farce and denounces Naofumi. Their relationship continues: Myne telling lies, Motoyasu believing them, and Naofumi trying to correct her but no one believing him. However, this relationship changed when the Queen exposed all of Myne's misdeeds, banishing her from the royal family and forcing her to change her name to Bitch (her adventurer's name is Whore). Motoyasu is also glared at by the Queen and called her a Whore. However, the good thing about Motoyasu is that he continues to keep Bitch by his side. Though she appears less and less, she continues to fight alongside Motoyasu.

Is Spear Hero Kitamura Motoyasu Committing Corruption?

Every contest involving the Spear Hero, from his duel with Naofumi over Raphtalia, to the dragon race with Filo, to the kidnapping of the second princess, is peppered with cheating and lies. This can lead to the perception that Motoyasu is a coward, but he's still a hero, even if he's corrupted. In fact, Motoyasu has never cheated. It was Myne who cheated and lied every time. He simply didn't notice. He has no sense of cooperation whatsoever, but he trusts his comrades deeply, so he probably didn't see what they said. He's simply a womanizer, and yet he's a true hero, something that those around him can't see.

What is the relationship between the Spear Hero Kitamura Motoyasu and the Sword and Bow Heroes?

Surprisingly, they don't seem to get along that badly. Even when the two pointed out their cheating in their duel with the Shield Hero, they didn't show any signs of resentment. During the waves, none of the three cooperate, each doing their own thing and being useless, as is the usual pattern, but this was surprising. When he learned that the Sword Hero and the Bow Hero had been assassinated, he attacked Naofumi, determined to avenge them. He probably considered them allies. Later, in fact, both of them were still alive and joined the battle. They end up fighting together, but it seems that everyone except the Shield Hero did so willingly. Even taking into account what each of them said in their subsequent information exchanges, it's possible that the three of them harbor animosity towards the Shield Hero born of jealousy, and that the system is such that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Good Deeds Performed by the Spear Hero, Kitamura Motoyasu

There was a village that had long suffered from famine. The Spear Hero arrived there and bestowed upon them a miraculous seed. The miraculous seed grew incredibly fast, bearing various fruits in the blink of an eye. Before they knew it... This was one of Motoyasu's good deeds. However, the Miracle Seed later grew too large and became a monster that parasitized humans. The Pope of the Church of the Three Heroes complained about this to the Spear Hero, saying it was an attempt to make him a hero. The Shield Hero, who cleaned up the mess, also complained about it, but this story...is a little hopeless, and it doesn't seem like the Spear Hero is to blame. Certainly, they should have waited and seen how things would turn out later, but it's quite amazing that a Miracle Seed would turn into a monster...The Spear Hero has been portrayed as hateful on many occasions, and his repeated distrust of the Shield Hero has been unpleasant to watch, but this...is what I think.

The Spear Hero, along with the Bow and Sword Heroes, hasn't been doing much to date. While his performance in future waves is of interest, we're also curious to see how his relationship with the Shield Hero will develop. In the manga version, there are also heroes who have come from the world beyond the waves, and it will be interesting to see how the conflict with them will turn out. It's still impossible to predict how the story will progress!
