The second season of "The Duke of Death and His Maid" is scheduled to air in July as part of the summer anime series. In our previous article, we reviewed the first half of the first season, covering episodes 1 through 6. This time, we'll be introducing the second half, episodes 7 through 12. We hope you'll check it out before watching the second season.
Episode 7: "An Ordinary Day with the Duke and Alice"
Alice was waiting for the Duke to cook together in the magical oven that a witch built and loved every day. Apparently, she had spotted it in town the other day and bought it, and it even came with the witch's recipe book. The young master decides to cook together, but Little Devil Alice teases him about it. When he asks what he's making, she teases him again, saying, "A love potion...it's just soup."
What will be made in the witch's kiln?
The ingredients Alice puts into the kiln are definitely not food, including lizard tails, amoebas, red clay, snail shells, and cat hair. When the young master says, "That's definitely not food, is it?" Alice smiles and replies, "I was surprised when I found one in town: a potion that can remove witches' curses." Since the witch who cast the curse isn't there, Alice offers the young man a potion she's made, offering to try anything. The young man drinks the hellish-tasting potion, but it doesn't lift the curse. However, the young man smiles and says, "Well, it seems like it's not a simple curse. More than anything, I'm happy that you encouraged me. Thank you."
Cursed Sheet Music
Alice finds a sheet music on a bookshelf. It's said to be the most beautiful sheet music in the world, the last work left behind by the musician McFarlane. However, it's cursed and is said to cause abnormalities when played. However, it is said that if the piece is played perfectly, the curse will be purified. As the Young Master attempts to play, the ghost of MacFarlane appears before him, but MacFarlane can only be seen by the person playing. MacFarlane keeps getting in the way of the Young Master, and also starts playing pranks on Alice. Alice, who for some reason cannot see, rejects his request, but she can see him. Ignoring MacFarlane, the Young Master finishes playing perfectly. Then, MacFarlane is purified along with the sheet music. "Are you being purified?" the Young Master's cry echoes throughout the room.
Episode 8 "White Snow, Black Clothes"
Bochan has a younger brother named Walter. While he may seem gentlemanly and cool at first glance, he has an abnormal complex about Bochan. He grabs Viola as she heads off to the villa and confronts her, saying that as the next head of the household, he needs to know where she's going. Viola then tells him that once the curse is lifted, her older brother will be the head of the household, and that he's the "second son," leaving Walter in agony. He has an abnormal rivalry with Bochan, making him a troublesome second son who has an unusual aversion to the words "second son" and "two."
Alice Arrives on a Snowstormy Night
On a snowy night, while playing chess with Alice, the Young Master recalled the time Alice came to the villa. At the time, the Young Master was living a rough life, having been shocked by the curse and kicked out of the villa. The Young Master refused to accept Alice working as a maid, but Rob forced her to hire him. The Young Master didn't want to have anything to do with anyone and thought, "Please leave me alone. I'll die alone..."
The Twisted Young Master and Alice
The Young Master then hurls harsh words at Alice, trying to get her to leave and giving her difficult tasks. However, Alice supports the Young Master with a smile as a maid. Unable to drive Alice out, the Young Master leaves the mansion on a snowy night, leaving behind a note that read, "If you don't leave, I'll leave."
Remembering Alice
"No one will love you, and you will never love anyone. I collapse in the snow, remembering the words of the witch who cursed me: 'Live a miserable life,'" she says. At that moment, memories of Alice from when I was little come flooding back. As I lose consciousness, I hear Alice calling out to me, thinking how I can't remember Alice, the girl I wanted to see again.
Alice's Feelings for the Young Master
"I've decided to die. Can't you just leave me alone?" Alice becomes angry at the young master. She scolds him for saying something so destructive that it would cost him his life. "Please think about the feelings of those you leave behind. There are people who love you," Alice says. It was the young master who treated her kindly and saved her when she was a sickly, alone child. He told her that it was thanks to her that he had been able to live until today.
Let's go home, and let's live together from now on...
The young master shed tears at her words as they returned to the mansion together, and he swore to love Alice for the rest of his life.
Episode 9: "The Young Master, Alice, and Their Christmas Promise"
On Christmas Eve, Viola, Kafu, and Zain are coming to visit for a party. The young master is excited about the party and is looking forward to it. Just then, Kafu and Zain arrive with a fir tree. Alice and Kafu are in charge of decorating the tree, while the young master and Zain are in charge of decorating the room. Christmas preparations are progressing smoothly.
The One Who Arrived with Viola
Then Viola arrives, along with Walter, disguised as a coachman. As usual, Walter's abnormal rivalry with the young master continues, blaming him for the strange fact that he's been treated like the young master's spare. He then challenges the young master to a challenge to see who can uncover the truth behind the curse first. The winner will inherit the family home, and the loser will be the spare forever. After the young master accepts the challenge, Walter quickly leaves. The remaining members then begin the Christmas party.
Conveying my feelings once again
After the party, the young master and Alice go for a walk in the falling snow. They reminisce about the time when Alice first arrived. The young master ran away from home during a snowstorm, and Alice rescued him, returning him to the mansion. In front of the fireplace, he said, "I'll live. I want to live with you..." He then reiterates to Alice, "There are so many things that make me glad I didn't give up. It's all thanks to you." Alice replies, "Thank you. I'll take it as a Christmas present." As she lay down next to the young master in the snow, Alice asked, "Aren't you cold?" to which she replied, "I want to share it with you. We're going to live together."
Episode 10: "A Song Just for the Two of Us, the Young Master and Alice"
One day, Alice had a dream. She dreamed of being with her mother, Sharon, at the young master's mansion as a child. Sharon, the head maid, was beloved by the other maids and servants. Alice loved her mother so much that she wanted to be a maid like her mother. Being physically weak, Alice often slept in the mansion and was bullied by other children. However, she loved the kind young man who protected her. Her mother, who always supported her, woke up when she hugged her and said, "My dear Alice, I'll always protect you. I love you."
What Happened One Sleepless Night
One day, unable to sleep, the young boy was forced by Alice to sleep next to him until he fell asleep. The young boy became even more nervous because his crush was sleeping next to him, so the little devil Alice sexually harassed him, causing him trouble. Although this kind of reverse sexual harassment is bothersome to the young master, who knows Alice's feelings, it also makes him happy.
The Young Master's Determination
The young master tells Alice that it's wrong for unmarried men and women to sleep together. He then tells her that once the curse is lifted, he intends to tell his mother about their relationship. It's not easy for an heir and a maid to be together, but he'll seriously ask her, and if she doesn't agree, he'll leave home, but Alice stops him. "You shouldn't think about such things, please don't think about them," Alice pleads with a smile. Alice suppresses her true feelings and puts on a smile.
Rob's Reminiscence...
While Rob was taking a break, the boy came over to show him the gloves Alice had hand-knitted. Seeing the boy's laughter, Rob was reminded of the past. When Rob was ordered to care for the cursed five-year-old boy, Rob, with no experience raising a child, was honestly overwhelmed. He raised the boy, worried about whether he could raise him alone. However, as the boy grew older, they began to clash, arguing and running away from home. He eventually shut himself in his room and expressed a desire to die.
Rob Thinks of the Young Master and Alice
Rob wanted the young master to have someone his age to talk to, and Alice was the first person he thought of. After hiring Alice as a maid, she became even more invaluable to the young master than Rob had imagined. However, he was worried that Alice's feelings for him might alienate him from his family, even though she hopes the young master can break the curse and live with his family. He was happy that Alice had feelings for him, and he loved her too. He then tells Alice, "Your feelings for the young master are pure; if I may say so, they are fate."
Episode 11: "The Young Master and the Secret Magic"
While searching the mansion for clues to the young master's curse, Viola finds a servant's diary. When she goes to return it, her mother finds her and scolds her. Viola tells her mother, "I shouldn't live for myself," but she is simply told no. Enraged, Viola runs away from home to the young master's villa.
The Servant's Journal
Viola, who has run away from home, badmouths her mother to the young master and proposes living at the villa. The young master tries to stop her, but Viola refuses to listen. Then Rob appears and encourages Viola, who cheers him up and decides to stay instead of running away. He then hands Alice the servant's journal, hoping it might contain a clue to breaking the curse. It mentions two unfamiliar people dressed as nun's at the mansion.
Dalles's Conspiracy
Dalles, who had been watching the whole thing, called Zain and ordered him to do two things: tell Alice not to get involved any further and destroy the servant's diary. When Zain refused, saying he couldn't do such a thing to his friend, Dulles threatened to take the cuffs away from him. Unable to refuse, Zain took the servant's diary and tried to burn it, but then the young master appeared and saw him.
Zain and Bochan
Zain decided he didn't want to do this after all, so he stopped burning the journal and told Bochan that he was being threatened by Dareth. Bochan then told Zain it was okay to burn it, saying, "I can't cause any trouble for you or Kafu. I wouldn't want anything to happen to Kafu either. You're both important friends, so please burn it." He handed the journal to Zain.
Why is it in the coffin...?
Zain decides to do something for the young boy, using magic to make it look like he's burned the diary and offering to take care of him until Dareth is no longer watching him. Dareth, watching this, mutters, "I'm annoyed, but I'll leave it as it is for now," and opens the coffin. Inside, he finds Alice's mother, Sharon.
Episode 12 "With the Young Master..."
When his mother called him to the main residence, the young master was depressed. He was anxious about meeting his mother while the curse had not yet been lifted. This was the first time he had been called since being moved to the annex. Seeing him like this, Alice asked if she could come with him.
Alice and Gerbera
When Bochan arrives at the main residence, he goes to greet his mother. There, Gerbera, the same strict mother who always treated her children, is waiting for him. Gerbera tells Bochan to stay the night, saying they'll talk tomorrow. As Gerbera leaves her room, she happens to see Alice passing by and mistakes her for Sharon. Alice's mother, Sharon, and Gerbera were close friends and got along well. Since Sharon's death, Gerbera has changed.
Bochan's Thoughts
The next day at dinner, Gerbera tells the children that their hospitalized father's condition is not good, and that if Bochan cannot break the curse by spring, Walter will be the heir. When Gerbera says that's all, Bochan says he has something to tell them as well. He then tells them that he wants to marry Alice. Bochan responds, "You've got to be kidding me! Born into a noble family, you have no right to free love. You should only think about breaking the curse."
You're kidding!
Bochan was furious, thinking that there was no way his mother could say something like this as a joke. "You locked me up in the villa and never tried to get to know me again, yet you still tied me down emotionally." "Alice always acts like she doesn't care about the curse and treats me like a normal person." "It was Alice who rescued me from that miserable darkness!" "If it weren't for Alice, I would have died a long time ago. Please think about your children, not just the house and heir." And then,
I, I'm going to marry Alice!
With those words, the young master returned to the villa with Alice.
Declaration to Alice
Seeing the young master like that, Gerbera smiled and said, "I can't believe that he was such a kind and weak boy talking back to me. He's grown up so much." After returning to the villa, the young master told Alice that Gerbera had told Alice that he loved her. He then declared to Alice:
You've taught me so much, and how to love others. I promise, I will always shower my love on you.
And then, Alice whispered to the sleeping young master, "I love you, young master."
