Set in 19th-century France, "The Case Study of Vanitas," a tale of vampires and humans, is currently garnering attention for its second season, which will begin in January 2022. Did you know that a stage adaptation of the series will also be released next year? The dark worldview and occasional comedic twists in the storyline will be a truly fascinating spectacle. Ahead of the show's opening, we'd like to introduce the cast!
About the Stage Version of "The Case Study of Vanitas"
The decision to produce a stage adaptation was announced on the official website at the end of October. The first season will begin on January 21, 2022, so there will be a short gap between the start of the second season and the start of the second season. The venue is Theater 1010, located in Adachi Ward, Tokyo. The spread of COVID-19 forced the theater community to temporarily suspend activities, causing significant damage. However, now that the infection situation has calmed down relatively, we are truly glad that we have been able to decide to resume performances. Next, I would like to introduce who will be playing the main characters!
Vanitas: Keisuke Ueda
Vanitas will be played by Keisuke Ueda. This actor, originally from Osaka Prefecture, was once a finalist in the Junon Boy contest. While he has appeared in dramas and films, his overwhelming majority of work is stage. He's particularly known for his involvement in stage adaptations of anime, playing key or leading roles in famous works like the "Hetalia" series, "Mr. Osomatsu," and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba." Looking at the image, the incredibly accurate portrayal of Vanitas raises expectations!
Noe: Shuji Kikuchi
The role of Noe is played by Shuji Kikuchi. A Tokyo-born actor, he previously won second place in a talent audition. She later became an exclusive model for the magazine "smart." She's a member of the theater group "Gekidan Bancho Boys☆" and is actively involved in stage performances. Like Ueda's portrayal of Vanitas, the Noe in the image is incredibly well-realized, and we're excited to see how she'll perform on stage.
Jeanne: Aimi Nojo
The role of Jeanne is played by Aimi Nojo. She's probably best known as a former member of Nogizaka46. As a member of Nogizaka's first generation, she likely has many longtime fans. She loved theater and musicals from a young age and often went to see them. When she was in elementary school, she auditioned for "Annie." Though she was unsuccessful, the experience boosted her confidence and strengthened her desire to perform on stage. Since joining Nogizaka, she has steadily progressed toward her career as an actress, starring in a film and appearing in a Sailor Moon musical. Since graduating from Nogizaka, she has pursued a full-time career as a stage actress, so we're excited to see what she does next!
Dominique: Miki Sawada
The role of Dominique is played by Miki Sawada. Born in Tokyo, she graduated from Shobi Music College. Notable alumni include voice actors Ayumi Fujimura and Hitomi Nabatame. She is primarily a stage actress, appearing in productions such as "Ookiku Furikabutte." She has a diverse range of activities, including serving as a backup dancer in Momoiro Clover Z's music videos and live performances.
Laurent: Haruki Okayama
Haruki Okayama plays the role of Laurent. Born to a father who was a Japanese dancer and a mother who was a ballerina, he was surrounded by art from a young age. She moved to the United States at the age of 14. While appearing in numerous stage productions in Japan, she also performed overseas, making her Broadway debut in 2014. She has also been active in a variety of fields, including teaching as a part-time lecturer at Gakushuin University and forming an idol group with voice actor Yuki Torikoshi.
