"Paranghyou no Yohane - SUNSHINE in the MIRROR -" is an official spin-off of "Love Live! Sunshine!!". The story revolves around the main character, who is modeled after member Tsushima Yoshiko, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of reincarnation in another world. All the members of Aquors appear, but there are no school idols, and the story is set in a different timeline from the original. The main character, Yohane, has a beast companion called Laelaps. In fact, in the original work, there is an animal that could be said to be the model for Laelaps, and he is a character that Yoshiko is very familiar with. In this article, we would like to introduce Laelaps, including some scenes from the original work!

Partner: Laelaps

This beast, with its wolf-like aura, appears as John's companion. Its dignified eyes and imposing presence are striking. It seems like a reliable companion who will be a great help to John. His profile on the official website doesn't provide many details, so you'll have to wait until the broadcast to find out what kind of role he will play. There's also a manga currently being serialized, so if you can't wait for the anime, be sure to check that out. Next, I'd like to introduce the character who could be considered the inspiration for Laelaps, along with his appearances in Season 2 of the anime!

Appears in Episode 5 of the Anime's Second Season

In Episode 5 of the anime's second season, the animal that served as the model for Laelaps appears. While this episode has nothing to do with Yoshiko Tsushima's usual school idol activities, it gives us a glimpse into Yoshiko Tsushima's positive side, making it a delightful episode for Yoshiko fans. It's also one of my favorite episodes. One day during bad weather, Yoshiko's umbrella is blown away. She chases after it, only to find a dog. That's the dog in the picture. It's a very adorable dog, isn't it? Its silhouette and gray and white color scheme are very similar to Laelaps'. Yoshiko wanted to keep the dog, but her house didn't allow pets. Later, she begged Sakurauchi Riko if she could keep it. Riko, who doesn't like dogs, hesitated at first, but after a series of events, she agreed. Yoshiko also became curious about the dog and came over to Riko's house to check on it. It was only when Yoshiko arrived that she began calling the dog "Laelaps." Incidentally, Riko had named it "Nocturne." The combination of Yoshiko and Riko, "Yoshiriko," is also a highlight of this episode.

What does Laelaps mean to Yoshiko?

The owner was safely found, and Laelaps was returned. However, Yoshiko is still curious about Laelaps, and decides to take Riko to his owner's house to see if she can get him back. She finds Laelaps, but before she can call him back, his owner returns, and she hastily leaves. Yoshiko then begins to talk about herself. Ever since she was a child, things often didn't go well for her, and she spent her days feeling unlucky. However, she convinced herself that this was because she had a special power, an invisible force at work. This is why she began calling herself a fallen angel. Yoshiko believed that fate and invisible forces didn't really exist, but when she met Laelaps, she felt drawn to him by an invisible force, not by chance. This is the scene where Yoshiko first talks about the origins of her fallen angel character. It was Laelaps who created this connection, and it could be said that he affirmed Yoshiko's ideas about "fate" and "invisible forces." Yoshiko may be glad that she stuck to her fallen angel character. Laelaps is a character who had a profoundly positive influence on Yoshiko, so it's no surprise that he's Yohane's partner in this work.

Summary of Laelaps

In the original work, Yoshiko and Laelaps share a strong bond despite being separated, but in this work they travel together as partners. Their shared adventures will undoubtedly deepen their bond. I can't wait for the anime to air in July! That's all for now. Thank you for reading.
