Steins;Gate is a popular anime based on a video game, and has become a well-known work that ranks highly in many anime rankings. As such, many people are likely familiar with it. Steins;Gate (hereafter referred to as S;G) is a science fiction work in which time travel becomes one of its themes in the second half, making it enjoyable for fans of Hollywood movies. Another appealing feature of Steins;Gate is the appearance of many fascinating characters that are unique to anime. Among them, the presence of Shiina Mayuri, the other heroine who is a match for the main heroine Makise Kurisu, is significant. Here, we will introduce the charm of Shiina Mayuri, the other main heroine of Steins;Gate!
Shiina Mayuri is Okabe Rintaro's childhood friend!
Mayuri is childhood friends with Okabe Rintaro, the protagonist of Steins;Gate. They've been friends for a long time (since elementary school), and they're comfortable with each other. Because of their long-standing friendship, Rintaro is the character in the series with whom she interacts most naturally. Mayuri calls Rintaro "Okarin," but Rintaro himself doesn't like that name and would rather be called Hououin Kyouma.
Shiina Mayuri is a soothing character even in the story! Her gentle personality is charming!
Mayuri is a soothing presence in the Steins;Gate series. She's always smiling, dislikes conflict, and speaks in a pathologically calm tone, almost like a saintly mother. Even when Rintaro is acting out of control in Hououin Kyouma mode, she does show a slightly troubled expression, but she is charming in the way she gently admonishes him with her usual smile. I'm sure there are many men who would like to have a childhood friend like Mayuri!
With an open-minded personality and unbiased approach to people, he is also the most well-liked character in the series. Despite his reserved demeanor, he is surprisingly cheerful and able to get along with anyone. Among the main characters of Steins;Gate, who tend to live only in their own world, it can be said that she is the most free-spirited and not bound by her own world.
When you think of Shiina Mayuri, you think of "Tutturu♪"!
The most essential keyword when talking about Mayuri is "Tutturu♪"! "Tutturu♪" is so synonymous with Shiina Mayuri that "Tutturu♪" is the most important word when talking about her! When you think of Shiina Mayuri, first try to remember "Tutturu♪"!
"Tutturu♪" is Mayuri's catchphrase, and she's known for repeatedly using it at every opportunity. She often uses "Tutturu♪" before speaking, especially when conveying a message or trying to make her presence known. "Tutturu♪" itself doesn't seem to have any special meaning, but it's a memorable word, so it became popular among some people when the show was aired.
The origin of the "Tutturu♪" line seems to be Shokotan, also known as Shoko Nakagawa, saying "Tutturu♪." Shokotan has been saying "Tutturu♪" since around 2006, but Steins;Gate wasn't released until 2009, so Shokotan was much earlier!
Shiina Mayuri has the biggest breasts out of all the main characters!
The female characters in Steins;Gate generally have modest measurements, similar to those of average women in real life. The main heroine, Kurisu Makise, has a bust size of 79cm, and Suzuha Amane's waist is 61cm, not in the 50s. The characters are strangely realistic.
Even so, Mayuri boasts a larger-than-average bust size of 85cm, plus a height of 152cm and a waist size of 56cm, making her a truly impressive figure for a moe character! If she's only 152cm tall but has a bust of 85cm and a waist of 56cm, then if you were to compare these measurements to a real-life girl, she'd definitely have some pretty impressive looks (although for some reason Mayuri tends to get overshadowed in the Steins;Gate world)! By the way, she weighs 45kg. Looking at the numbers, Mayuri looks great!
Shiina Mayuri is surprisingly an otaku! Many of her friends are otaku too!
Mayuri might not look like it at first glance, but she's actually a serious otaku. While she doesn't stand out as much as characters like Daru and Faris, who are clearly otaku in appearance, her inner otaku level is no less than Daru or Faris's.
Specifically, she works at a maid cafe in Akihabara and is skilled at making cosplay costumes, proving she's a true otaku. She also became friends with Faris at her part-time maid cafe, and is second only to Faris in popularity at her workplace, Maid Cafe Make Queen! Yeah, I'd love to have a girl like Mayuri working at a maid cafe... seriously...
Mayuri's Stardust Handshake is somehow heartbreaking
Mayuri's "Tutturu♪" is what makes her Mayuri, but there's another characteristic of hers that shouldn't be forgotten when talking about her. This is the "Stardust Shakehands." This Stardust Shakehands refers to a pose Mayuri occasionally strikes, where she holds her palms up toward the sky and looks up.
The name was given by young Okabe Rintaro, who was inspired by Mayuri's pose. After losing her grandmother, Mayuri began to occasionally strike this pose, and Rintaro, feeling saddened by this, naturally came up with the name when he saw Mayuri. The Stardust Shakehands itself has no special meaning, but it became the catalyst for the relationship between Rintaro and Mayuri.
Mayuri is a kind-hearted girl who wishes happiness for Rintaro.
Mayuri is a somewhat tragic character, likely due to the many tragic events she endures in the middle of the story and the fact that she is relegated to a less than fortunate position in the latter half. Normally, Mayuri would be the main heroine, but for some reason, Kurisu Makise takes on the role of Rintaro's supporting partner, preventing Mayuri and Rintaro from progressing beyond the role of childhood friends.
Still, Mayuri is such a sweet girl, wishing Rintaro happiness with a warm expression! In other anime, childhood friend characters (especially those with a strong moe element) tend to think they understand the protagonist better than anyone else and try to exclude the main heroine character who joins later. However, Mayuri doesn't do that. She actively supports Rintaro's happiness and success. Truly, if you had a childhood friend like this, you'd be living a happy life!
Mayuri Shiina's voice actress is the incredibly popular Kana Hanazawa!
Mayuri Shiina's voice actress is Kana Hanazawa, a name anime fans will know! Kana Hanazawa is one of the most representative female voice actors of the 2010s, and is a hugely popular voice actress who has played numerous beautiful main characters. I'm a big fan of Kana Hanazawa, and I can't help but watch any anime she stars in (or rather, because the shows she stars in are often really interesting)!
Kana Hanazawa's notable works include Kuroneko from "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute," Tomoka Minato from "Ro-Kyu-Bu!", and Angel Perhaps the angel from "Steampunk: Beats!" is one example. While she has appeared in many more works, she is a voice actress who often plays the heroine in popular works! Hanazawa's cool, beautiful characters are heartwarming just to watch, and that's thanks to her delicate yet powerful acting!
Shiina Mayuri is a main heroine who rivals Makise Kurisu!
While Makise Kurisu is always the most memorable main heroine of Steins;Gate, I personally think Mayuri is a great main heroine, just as good as Chris! If it were me, I'd definitely choose Mayuri (lol). Chris and Rintaro certainly have a good chemistry, and they're fun to watch, but if they were to get married, I think Mayuri would be a better choice.
Above all, she's a wonderfully cute girl whose "Tutturu♪" and stardust shake hands are soothing! Her slightly airheaded side is charming, and she has no bad points! Depending on the timeline, there's probably a dimension where Mayuri and Rintaro could find happiness, but I hope the anime will also air Mayuri's route!
