Haruto is the same generation as him and was a former member of the Kao-kai. He is currently a musical actor. He and Haruto have been best friends and rivals since they entered junior high school. During his time at Kaokai, Kaito competed with Haruto for the star slot, but lost in rock-paper-scissors. Since then, he has held a strong grudge against Haruto and has unilaterally cut off all ties with him. Because of that incident, he has vowed to never play rock in rock-paper-scissors again. His rough manner often leads to misunderstandings, but he is a caring older brother. He is the second son of an older brother, and also has a nephew. He has a driver's license and travels in his own car. He is also a light drinker.

Kaito was a very diligent student and had excellent grades. Incidentally, during his time at Kao-kai, Uozumi would sometimes take over the work of Haruto, who was the top student, because he tended to put off his work.

He was a former member of the Kaokai at the same time as Haruto. He currently belongs to a musical theater troupe. Haruto is completely captivated by him, and he describes her as "the only person in all humanity who is as beautiful as me." As he himself says, he is quite handsome, and during high school, he and Haruto were known as "Prince Haruto and Princess Ritsu." He also has a slightly narcissistic streak. Incidentally, he is a close friend of Futaba, a fellow Kao-kai member, and they have been classmates since their first year of junior high school. Futaba calls Saotome "Ritchan" and they are close friends. They are currently members of the same theater company, and even let Futaba stay at their house the day before practice. Since high school, he has been the most mature member of the Ancients, with a broad perspective and a good sense of getting things done, making him the group's leader. He's afraid of bugs.
