"Shikimori-san Isn't Just a Cutie" has been introduced as a 1000% adorable short romantic comedy. Furthermore, at the beginning of the serialization, the editor encouraged the author to draw "a manga about girls that isn't just cute," and the heroine, Shikimori-san, was set up as a "cool, beautiful girl." As a result, the work is full of thrilling romantic comedy-style scenes and memorable scenes featuring the heroines in cool scenes. Here, we'll introduce some of the most memorable scenes that caught our eye! If you watch these scenes, you might understand why it has so many female fans as well as male fans!

After the New Year's Shrine Visit

The two after the visit

The two, who had come to visit the shrine for the New Year's shrine visit, took a rest on a bench after praying. There, they talked about what wishes they had made. Shikimori said it was a secret, but Izumi's wish was for "the safety of my family and Shikimori." When asked if he had made any wishes for himself, he replied, "I've forgotten all about my bad deeds," and "As long as Shikimori is with me again this year, I'm not afraid of anything." Upon hearing this, Shikimori grabbed Izumi's face, ruffled her head, looked her in the eye, and asked, "Is it okay if it's just for this year?" Izumi's face turned red, and she gave a confusing response: "A lifetime contract..." (lol).

Just the Two of Us in the Nurse's Office

The Two of Us in the Nurse's Office

Izumi was hit directly in the face by a basketball during gym class and was rushed to the nurse's office. This time, it wasn't so much misfortune as it was just clumsiness... The nurse returned to the staff room, leaving Izumi and Shikimori alone in the nurse's office. Shikimori initially tried to return to the classroom, but as she talked with Izumi, she decided not to go back after all. Then, in response to Izumi's words, "The next class is about to start!", Shikimori lifted the covers off the bed Izumi was sleeping on and said, "Maybe I'll hide in here." Izumi panicked when she heard this, but then she flashed a mischievous smile and said, "Just kidding♡". Shikimori seemed even more assertive than usual... but afterwards she blushed and thought to herself, "I was too aggressive."

The Scene Where Shikimori's Drawing Collapses

Shikimori Tears of Joy

Shikimori and her friends are now in their second year of high school, and it's finally time for class changes. This marks a crossroads between her friends, who she's been close with, and whether she'll be in the same class as Izumi... (Though since it's a manga, the outcome is pretty much known.) Izumi secretly hopes she'll be in the same class as Shikimori again, but Shikimori calmly tells her not to worry, saying she'll visit her often even if they're in different classes. And then, finally, the class announcements come. Upon learning they'll be in the same class, Izumi bursts into tears of joy. With her usual relaxed smile, Shikimori says, "Thank you for your continued support this year," and heads off to Nekozaki and Yaman. However, Izumi realizes something she forgot to mention, and when she turns around, she sees Shikimori, hands raised and pumping her fist in joy, crying tears of joy.

Shikimori's Look, Different and More Mature

Shikimori's Look, More Mature

Shikimori usually dresses cutely, but on this date she shows up in a more mature outfit. The two go for sweets, where Shikimori orders black coffee and Izumi orders the Kuma Prince plate. The waiter who brought the ordered items puts the childish Bear Prince plate in front of Izumi without any hesitation (lol). Seeing Izumi's delight in front of the sweets, the female customer next to her laughs and comments, "Cute." Feeling embarrassed, Izumi asks, "Is it weird after all? I'm so cute..." to which Shikimori replies with a mature smile, "You're always cute though." The way he casually calls her "you" instead of "Izumi-san" is also a mature and lovely scene. After this, she takes a bite of the sweet dessert, which she doesn't like, and sticks out her tongue, which is also cute, so it's a must-see.

Inutsuka and Nekozaki, Caring Friends

Nekozaki Raising His Hand

It's the mixed-gender relay race at the school sports day. Because it's a popular event, no one wants to participate, so Shikimori's class decides to choose their runners by drawing lots. Izumi is the first to sacrifice, followed by Yaman. Shikimori exchanges his lottery ticket with a kid who drew the winning ticket in order to participate with Izumi. These three are decided. Inutsuka then volunteers, saying, "A relay with you guys sounds like fun." Nekozaki follows suit and raises his hand. Izumi is moved by Inutsuka's manly actions. "That's so encouraging, Inutsuka-kun!" he exclaims, overjoyed, and thanks Nekozaki. Watching with a sulky look on his face is Shikimori, who's been secretly trying to look cool out of sight. Nekozaki also gives him some advice: "When you're trying to look cool, you have to do it in plain sight."

The Sports Festival: Yaman's Facial Muscles Come Back to Life

Yaman Collapses

Yaman's facial muscles are usually dead, whether he's angry or laughing, so it's hard to tell what's going on. The Sports Festival episode brings Yaman's facial muscles back to life. Having zero athletic ability, Yaman initially acts as usual with no motivation, but as he continues to practice, he gradually begins to change. The usually listless Yaman even starts to say, "Let's do our best." Then, on the day of the sports festival, the relay finally begins, but Yaman falls midway through and ends up with a disastrous result. However, seeing Shikimori's furious comeback and the fierce run of anchor Inutsuka, Yaman begins to cheer, his eyes welling up, saying, "Do your best!" After crossing the finish line in brilliant first place, Yaman announces, with a beaming smile he has never seen before, that "it was fun."

Inutsuka looks cool at the sports festival too!

Inutsuka as Anchor

There are many highlights at the sports festival, such as Shikimori's cool scenes and Yaman's expressions. Inutsuka also shows off his naturally handsome side at the festival. While there are many comical scenes leading up to the passing of the baton, there are plenty of scenes where Inutsuka lives up to his word, such as when he shows concern for a depressed Yaman or when he makes a clean turn to take first place to fulfill his promise as anchor. The scene where he shows concern for Yaman is a particularly memorable one, showcasing Inutsuka's kindness, making it a must-see for Inutsuka fans.

Izumi's First Kiss

Izumi kissing

Up until now, the two have had scenes where they've kissed each other on the forehead or the back of the hand, but Shikimori has always been the one to initiate it. However, on their gondola ride to the amusement park, Izumi finally kisses Shikimori. ...Well, on the cheek, actually. This kiss was meant to reassure Shikimori, who had previously expressed anxiety about "what if I go too far away," but the suddenness of the kiss caused Shikimori to go wild on the gondola. However, afterward, she embraces Izumi, saying, "This is happier than a dream..." and they spend a sweet time together. Incidentally, when Nekozaki and Yaman heard about the kiss later, they were thrilled... but when they heard it was on the cheek, they said, "Izumi, you're so mean," and immediately dispersed (lol).

School Trip Photo Shoot

The Six Reaching the Summit

The school trip was full of twists and turns! Izumi's power of misfortune was at its peak, and the group was at their mercy, unable to follow their plans. On top of that, troubles continued, including Izumi losing her scarf... Amidst all this, Saruogi rose to prominence. Saruogi hadn't been able to fit in well with the group until now, but in the episode where she desperately asks her friends for help in searching for Izumi's precious scarf, she has fully become a part of the group. And when they reach their final destination, her anxious expression disappears, and she poses for a photo with everyone, beaming with smiles.

A Compilation of Famous Scenes from "Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie"

Izumi hugging her

So far, we've introduced some of the memorable scenes from volumes 1 to 10 of the manga. What did you think? There are so many other great scenes, and I wasn't sure which ones to introduce... but if I were to introduce them based on my personal preferences, it would end up being filled with great scenes featuring Izumi's mother, so I'll stop here (lol). By the way, Volume 11, the memorable 100th chapter, finally contains "that" scene, so although I wasn't able to introduce it all this time, I hope you'll pay attention to it as well.
