"Nijiyon Animation" is an anime adaptation of the four-panel comic "Nijiyon" by "Nijigasaki High School Idol Club." The characters are more cutely deformed than in the regular anime version, and the story is characterized by focusing more on the everyday interactions between the members rather than on idol elements. Basically, all the members of the club are active solo, but did you know that they sometimes form units? Learning about units will help you understand the relationships between the members, so it can also serve as a way to prepare before watching the anime. In this article, we would like to introduce the four units in total!

A・ZU・NA

A unit formed by three people, Ayumu Uehara, Setsuna Yuki, and Shizuku Sakurazaka, pronounced "Azuna." The unit name comes from the "A" of Ayumu, the "Zu" of Shizuku, and the "Na" of Setsuna. The concept of the unit is "Seven Transformations," and the world view is inspired by the excitement of an amusement park parade or a toy box where you don't know what will pop out. Each of the three members performs a solo stage with a different worldview, but by combining the three, they are able to perform performances in various genres such as fairy tales and horror.

QU4RTZ

A unit formed by four members: Emma Verte, Nakasu Kasumi, Tennoji Rina, and Omi Kanata. A quartet-style unit with two first-year students and two third-year students. The unit is pronounced "Kuotsu" and the 4 in the unit name is written as a variant of the alphabet A. This is the first four-member group in the history of the Love Live series, and although each member is unique, they perform a performance with a great sense of unity when they are on stage. This is symbolized by the harmony of the chorus, and they sometimes perform a cappella. Since there are no cool characters in this unit, they were able to take advantage of the strength of all the members being cute, and succeeded in creating a chorus of cute voices.

DiverDiva

This unit was formed by Asaka Karin and Miyashita Ai. The unit's name is a combination of "Diver," which means to dive deep into the heart, and "Diva," which means a diva. Although the two are in the same unit, they compete as good rivals who help each other improve. Conceptually, the unit is based on the club's idea of "friends and rivals." Many of their songs are cool and sexy, and Karin and Ai's proportions are excellent, which enhances the worldview of the songs.

r3birth

This unit was formed by Mia Taylor, Shou Lanzhu, and Shiori Mifune. The 3 in the unit name is listed as a variation of the alphabet E. This unit was formed by members from three countries: Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States. The songs have an international atmosphere, with a mix of Japanese, Chinese, and English. All of the members are characters who appeared midway through the series, so some people may have thought that a new unit would be formed when the three new members were added. As anyone who has played the app game version will know, when they first appeared, all three were very eccentric characters and often clashed with the club. However, now they have reconciled and become members of the club, and have even formed a unit like this. I also played the app game version, and as someone who has played it for a long time, it's somehow very moving.

Unit Introduction Summary

The club members show wonderful and attractive performances even as soloists, but when they become a unit, they become even more powerful and show different good points than when they are solo. There are many good songs that do not appear in the unit app game or anime, so if you are interested, please check them out! That's all for now. Thank you for reading.
