"Nijiyon Animation" is an animated version of the four-panel comic "Nijiyon" by the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. The characters are more cutely deformed than in the normal anime version, and the story is characterized by many relaxed interactions between the members. The school idols in this work are different from other Love Live series in many ways. Did you know? This time, I would like to explain about the school idols of Nijigasaki High School!

All of them are solo idols!

In other Love Live series, nine characters form one group. However, in this work, all the members of the club are depicted as solo idols. Currently, there are 12 members, including new characters, who are active as soloists, and each member performs in their own style. Since all the members are unique, the atmosphere on stage is also very different for each member. The story also depicts the joys and hardships of working as a soloist, and there are many episodes with an atmosphere that was not present in other series. The club can be said to be a place where each member can pursue their own individuality as a school idol.

Aren't you aiming for Love Live?

The Love Live series has a big theme of "winning Love Live," but in this work, we do not aim for Love Live. Unlike other series, the club does not have the problem of school closures. Originally, the club was made up of a few members led by Yuki Setsuna, who aimed to achieve Love Live, but they clashed with Nakasu Kasumi due to differences in direction. Feeling guilty that what she wanted to do had crushed the "love" of the other members, Setsuna disbanded the club. The club was later re-established, and Setsuna joined after being invited by Yuu and Ayumu. They began to place more importance on the stance that it's okay to aim in different directions, and that everyone should achieve what they want to do. Of course, just because you're a school idol doesn't mean you have to aim for Love Live. This is a work that makes you realize that there are other things you can gain from doing things.

Many new characters

This work is also famous for having many new characters. There are many characters with unprecedented characteristics, such as the blonde gal Miyashita Ai, the pure foreigner Emma Verte, and Tennoji Rina, who has a blank expression and reacts with a board. Some people may worry that if they introduce so many new characters in this work alone, they will run out of material. However, in this work, all the characters are solo idols, and they need individuality to stand out as solo idols. In that sense, the importance of character setting is greater than in other series. I think it is possible because it is a unique work that is different from other series.

There are also units within the club

The School Idol Club of Nijigasaki Academy is attracting attention for its activities as solo idols, but in fact, the club members have formed several original units. There are four units in total: "DiverDIva" by Ai and Karin, "AZUNA" by Ayumu, Setsuna, and Shizuku, "QU4RTZ" by Emma, Kanata, Kasumi, and Rina, and "R3BIRTH" by Lange, Mia, and Shioriko. Through their activities as a group that is different from their solo activities, you can see a new side of the club members. Each unit has its own unique personality, so be sure to give them a listen!

Summary

I have explained the characteristics of Nijigasaki Academy's school idols. There are many elements that are not found in the traditional Love Live series, so it is enjoyable not only for those who have watched the Love Live series, but also for those who have never seen it. "Nijiyon" can also be watched on the official Love Live channel on YouTube, so it might be a good idea to prepare before next year's broadcast! That's all for now. Thank you for reading.
