It's been about 27 years since "Osomatsu-kun" first aired in 1988. The sextuplets are finally back... but none of them - Osomatsu, Karamatsu, Choromatsu, Ichimatsu, Jyushimatsu, and Todomatsu - have permanent jobs and are enjoying a self-indulgent life as so-called "NEETs." What's worse, now that the sextuplets are adults, they're indulging in alcohol, gambling, and whatever else they want, even though they're NEETs. This time, we'll be taking a look at the antics of these no-good NEETs!
NEETs Can't Quit Gambling
All six brothers are unemployed and mischievous, but the eldest, Osomatsu, is the quintessential useless NEET, loving to gamble. Naturally, he has no talent for gambling, and almost always loses. He's grown into such a gambling addict that when he runs out of money to buy bets, he heads to the racetrack clutching a handmade ticket.
The NEETs don't pay for the oden they eat
In "Osomatsu-san," Chibita starts an oden stand, but despite being a regular customer, the sextuplets refuse to pay, to the point where they could be sued for eating and drinking without paying. To top it off, Chibita even kidnaps Karamatsu and demands a ransom. Even so, none of the brothers pay a penny.
Punish those who betray the NEETs
Among the sextuplets, Todomatsu is the one who dreams of a fulfilling life and starts working part-time at a cafe to escape his NEET lifestyle. He gets along well with the girls who work there, and is on the verge of becoming the fulfilled adult he dreams of. However, he is ruthlessly sabotaged by his brothers, who don't approve of sneaking around, and he ends up safely reverting to being a NEET.
A NEET with fashion sense that's too bad for him to enter society
A simple narcissist wouldn't be a problem, but Karamatsu's narcissism is so abnormal it's called a "psychopath." His fashion sense, in particular, is abysmal. He thinks that even clothes that make you wonder "Where did he get those!?" are cool, not to mention his sunglasses... It's tragic.
The "most decent NEET" isn't decent!
Choromatsu, the third brother of Osomatsu-san's siblings, plays the straight man. He's one of the more normal "among the six," but by most standards, he's not. Despite showing off his job hunting skills, he ultimately fails to land a job, just like his siblings. And because he's an idol otaku, Totoko often takes advantage of him... He's a typical pervert.
A Hopelessly Shy NEET
Although both brothers have been NEETs for many years, Ichimatsu is the only one who is extremely shy, to the point that even his own brothers worry about whether he will be able to make it in society. He himself says that he doesn't need friends because he has siblings, and he is a character who has no confidence in his ability to live alone, let alone work.
NEETs are motivated by impure motives!
The sextuplets usually lead lazy, NEET lives, but on rare occasions they get serious about work. That's when they get horny! Tricked by the transfigured Iyami and Chibita, the sextuplets quit their NEET lifestyle to earn money for erotic purposes. They work hard and quickly collect a stack of bills in a duralumin case.
Unpredictable! The Most Dangerous NEET
Jushimatsu is incredibly cheerful and spends most of his time smiling. He's so unpredictable he's even been called a "cheerful madman." He has exceptional athletic ability, and when he participated in a dolphin show, he didn't play the role of a zookeeper, but instead played the role of a dolphin and swam off somewhere.
Summary of the NEETs
Each of the sextuplets has a distinct personality and shows many different sides to them, but the one thing they all have in common is that they're all NEETs. However, if they put their minds to it, they have the potential to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, so I'm looking forward to the day when we can see them in action. (Although that day may never come...)
