Megaton-class Musashi, a completely new IP from LEVEL5, was a work that received considerable attention in both the game and anime, but it was a hopelessly unpopular IP. However, the game was widely praised as being interesting despite some issues, and the anime also picked up steam midway through, earning high praise from viewers who watched it to the end. The story unfolds as 99.9% of Earth is destroyed, with the majority of remaining Earthlings enjoying a false peace while seeking ways to fight back. It features both Earthlings and aliens known as the Dracters. This time, I'd like to introduce the characters on the Dracter side!
Character #1: Ashem Raia
Daughter of the Dracter Queen, Clauzet. Under the queen's orders, she infiltrated Ixia and possessed the female student, Asuna Kanzaki, waiting for an opportunity. Her mission: to assassinate the Rogue pilot. The Queen's goal was to expose the sheltered girl, Ashem, to blood, but her assassination plans failed due to her (and her guards') incompetence and her unfamiliarity with Earth culture. Conversely, she ended up killing a low-ranking Dracter assassin while trying to save Yamato, leading her to choose the path of coexistence and defect from the Queen.
Ashem Raia's Thoughts
This character is considered the heroine of this work. While initially a clumsy young lady, she possesses a strong personality and ideals. Later in the story, she becomes more than just a young lady who needs to be protected. As a heroine in a robot anime, she is similar to Erika from "Daimous," as she is an alien who seeks harmony with Earthlings. However, in terms of personality, I think she's similar to Kudelia Aina Bernstein from "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans," who initially started out as a clumsy young lady striving for ideals but eventually grew stronger.
Character #2: Sarzanto Evol
He serves as Ashem Raia's bodyguard. A large man with a SP-like build, he is a loyal companion to Ashem. When she decides to defect to the Queen, he unhesitatingly sides with Ashem, judging her to be a legacy inherited from the Queen. He supports Ashem's assassination plans via communications, but his lack of knowledge of Earth culture can sometimes lead to confusing advice and disruptive situations. However, he seems somewhat influenced by Earth culture, and his frequent visits to maid cafes suggest he may have been seeking harmonious relations with Earth.
Miscellaneous Thoughts on Sarzanto Evol
Although Sarzanto appears to be a tough, serious, and strict character, he also shows a playful side, frequenting maid cafes. However, there's an ominous hint that he himself is voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi. Since Ashem behaves like Kudelia from Iron-Blooded Orphans, Sarzanto, who plays Fumitan, was in a somewhat precarious position. It seemed as though he would one day die protecting Ashem, but a certain man ended up fulfilling that promise.
Character #3: Clauzet Lia
The Queen of Dracter. Dracter is a name given to her by Earthlings, and she and her people refer to themselves as the people of Sidor. She has a ruthless personality, ordering the assassination of her own daughter, ruthlessly testing and condemning subordinates who are likely to betray her, and launching a preemptive attack on Earth, wiping out 99.9% of the population. However, all of her decisions are based on the interests of the people of Sidor, making her a highly charismatic figure.
Miscellaneous Thoughts from Clauzet Laia
She's a frighteningly cold-hearted queen, but she's also a thorough realist. They were searching for a new home after their home planet was destroyed, but they knew that Earthlings had already established a culture there, and that their demands to "terraform the area and atmosphere they inhabit" would not be met. To avoid any lasting harm, she mercilessly sought to destroy humanity from the start. From Earth's perspective, they are heartless aliens, but from the aliens' perspective, there is no more reliable leader. However, in the final episode of Season 1, a certain man staged a coup d'état, leaving her severely injured.
Character #4: Grifferth Gled
The supreme commander of the Dracter. He is a calm, collected, and capable man who is highly trusted by the Queen, but the Queen sees through his strong loyalty to Ashem. After being ordered to eliminate Ashem, who betrayed him, he infiltrates Ixia to protect him... He views Earthlings as inferior, and after witnessing Ashem and Yamato connect with each other, he becomes extremely attached to Ashem.
Miscellaneous Thoughts on Grifferth Gred
voice is Takahiro Sakurai. His character, an elite who is obsessed with the heroine and subject to power harassment from his superiors, exuded a sense of unease even from his voice acting. Examples include Suzaku Kururugi from Code Geass, McGillis Fareed from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Bison Gerafil from Buddy Complex, but Grifferth was unmistakably Bison. His seemingly decent initial appearance and extreme obsession with the heroine make him unmistakably Bison Gred. It's a strong case of déjà vu. Griffarth's brain is damaged by seeing Ashem and Yamato understand each other, and he even attacks Sarzant and the Queen...
Character #5: Demir Gaura
Dracter's chief of staff, clearly a small-time strategist. While loyal to the Queen, he has a sarcastic personality and is arrogant towards those below him.
Miscellaneous Thoughts on Demir Gaura
He's a character who doesn't deserve much mention at this point. It's unclear what happens after Griffith's coup, but it doesn't seem like he'll be actively involved in the story. It would be interesting if he did.
[Megaton-Class Musashi] Summary of Characters on the Dracator Side
Here's a summary of the characters on the Dracator side of Megaton-Class Musashi! For fans of mecha anime, this is a show that pays homage to the original characters, and the second half is incredibly exciting. Season 2 looks like it's going to get even more interesting, so I recommend watching Season 1 before watching Season 2. You can currently watch all episodes on YouTube!
